That whole thing about your friend putting herself out there to meet the guy from Pixar was so motivating and inspiring and really encouraged me to go for stuff! Thank you so much for this video ♥️
In Bulgaria we celebrate Baba Marta on 1 March. It's a day when we give our family and friends those white and red bracelets and wish each other health and stuff like that. We wear the bracelets until we see a stork for the first time or a blooming tree or another sign that spring has come.
And Baba Marta translates to Granny March, a fictional character who's moods were like the weather this time of year. The story goes that if you hang the bracelets with the first sign of spring she will be merciful and we will get good weather.
Same thing in Greece! We don't celebrate it though, we just wear them all throughout March. I think that's how it is in the Balkans in general Ps we call them Martis/martakia (plural)
That is so true what you have been saying of perseverance. I always thought I would never be good enough for med school but, after a lot of hard work, I got an email saying that I entered into my dream school. Don’t give up kids. I feel like I can accomplish anything now.
The name of the bracelet is martenitsa, my aunt gave me one too for celebrating the arrival of spring, our bulgarian neighbors made them, she also told me that one should take it off when sees a swallow and ties it upon a tree and make a wish:::
The red and white friendship bracelet is actually not just a bulgarian tradition!! We have it here in Romania and Moldova, too - it's called Mărțișor (little March) and it can be worn in many forms: as a brooch or a friendship bracelet like yours!! From what I know, white symbolises the snow, but also purity and red is blood, as in the color of life. The tradition says that at the end of March, you must hang it on a blossoming tree and make a wish!
Hi I have just found your blog and your videos about Minerva uni and this particular video, your day, your smile and your attitude to life have inspired me a lot 💗💗💗 thank u
I have an interview for a teaching internship next week for teaching maths for a month in June/July after uni exams end (really hope it still happens despite corona, or that would ruin everything because I need this for my confidence). They're offering every suitable candidate a place, so there is no need to worry about competition. I'm really nervous and quite scared but also excited! I haven't done much job research but I have this preconception that most jobs must be so boring and uninspiring. Teaching is the only obvious thing to me that wouldn't be boring, and I really hope it's suitable for me. I plan to either do teacher training next year (haven't applied yet) or do a masters' degree and apply for teacher training for the year after :) I love your videos Jade. I feel like no amount of videos will help me understand your life there because it's so hectic and different to mine!
We do the first of March bracelet in Greece too! At the end of March (or whenever the bracelet has broken), we leave it on a branch so the swallows can incorporate it into there nests! uber cute xxx
1:50 she is wearing a martenitza. They are always red and white and essentially its a tradition here in Bulgaria to exchange them on the first of March as a sign that spring is comming. The tradition says that you can take it off only when you see a stork and you have to put it on a bloomed tree :D
You always motivate me so much and I fully believe what you said, it's all about manifesting and working towards what you want and in time, it will all work out! It's definitely been the case for me, patience is key but things work out in the end!x
heyy! I'm bulgarian and I gave some of those bracelets to my friends as well!! I've actually never lived in Bulgaria so I don't know the tradition too well but I still love to celebrate it! Basically the tradition is called "Baba Marta" or Grandma March in english haha and theres a story based around her where her mood changes reflect the weather in march. Also i think that when you see a stork, you hang it on a blooming tree! I suggest you check out culturetrip for more info. ;)
The bracelet is thing in Greece too. It's called martis (the focus on a) after the greek name of the month March. It is worn each year every day of March so as not for us "to get scolded by the sun or be given bad luck from the swallows" lol
We also have this little red and white bracelet in Greece! We call them "martakia" and we give them to celebrate the first day of March! We also usually wear them only on March and then take them off. :)
Oooh we wear that bracelet too!! Im from Greece, and we call it "martis" (aka march). We wear it in the month of march so we won't get sunburnt. It is a tradition here and we wear it until we sea the first swallow. we are neighbours with Bulgaria and I didn't know they do it too! Thats great!
We wear March bracelets in Greece too. Whit this way we celebrate the spring. We take them out either on Easter either in the end of the spring and we put them in trees
I really connect to the follow what you love message. You are obviously in a course that suits you perfectly. I am also in a weird uni- we have 100 undergrads at a marine science research institute. Typical? Hell no. Amazing? Hell yes! It is so amazing seeing how far you have come since A levels and seeing how perfectly this suits you😊
When it says one minute ago: Me: *yay! I'm actually early for once! 😅* Refreshes page.. Comments: *guess you've wondered where I've been!* 😎😎 Me: *well shit-*
Can you please make an advice video on how to get into Minerva university and how we can prepare for getting admitted . I think it will be very helpful for students who are interested to get into Minerva university.
Hi Jade! I’m in Denmark and we’ve started pour 18-day quarantine. In terms of online classes, what do you guys use at Minerva, in order to be 20-ish on the same call for a class with a teacher?
The prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) said : "Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge , Allah will make easy for him a path to Paradis .People don't gather in the houses of Allah, reciting the book of Allah and studying it together , but that tranquility will descend upon them, mercy will cover them, angels will surround them and Allah will mention them to those near him
@@isabellagaskill7335 it's true and it was normal in seventh century until the nineteenth century. For example, according to Christianity, Mary, mother of Jesus, was married to Joseph (90 years old) when she had 12 years old.
I feel like I have the exact opposite personality from you but the things you say always make me think. If you wanna talk to someone just go talk And I just always avoide talking to people not because I'm afraid or anything. I just normaly wanna do things without asking people. But networking is so important and you just need to do it no matter what of u wanna get your goals meet So I'm too thinking of getting a name list? Of ppl who I wanna have tea with At least to use it as a reason to reach out to people
Thanks this inspired me a lot! I've been drawing my whole life 2 and I'm not allowed to go to art school or to continue with art later on. Thanks to you I feel like I can make this dream come true and become what I want to do most: art. Thank you Jade ( ˘ ³˘)♥ (Btw my name is Jade 2)!
How did you search for/find internships that would accept you as a first year? I feel like everything I look at says that if you're not in your penultimate year they wont even consider your application or that older year's applications would take priority, but I really want to get some experience (and maybe some £££ because student finance aint cuttin it😂)
The fact that people have unfairly given you a hard time for going to a university that takes place online and now with COVID-19 a lot of our own education will take place online is quite interesting if you ask me... 🙃
I wrote down multiplied story of animation movie someday I will direct those movie in pixer. I am kind of jealous that you had opportunity which I want. But that's so cool you visit there.
I have a project that I have to submit in my Masters class, and id highly appreciate your help. The project is tackling Pixar university and how such university helps in the training and development of employees, so if you don't mind could I use some of the information you gathered from the interview that was done in Pixar. I'm Lebanese, and honestly I don't have the accessibility to go and make interview with such Pixar employees, so if you could help out, that would be great and highly appreciated.
Ecbb I think it’s when the people who belong to a certain culture or country who go to Minerva get together and do a night/presentation on that culture/country and cook the traditional cuisine etc.
