Music recommendation: Pottsfield C.M. and the other music played in Pottsfield is based off of sacred harp singing! It's a type of choral music that came from New England, but moved down to the South in the early 1800s. That's why the next three songs after Pottsfield C.M. sound super similar. If you like the music that's played during the second episode, you'll absolutely LOVE sacred harp singing.

AND ANOTHER THING: The C.M. in Pottsfield C.M. stands for Common Meter. Abbreviations like this were very common in the olden days and told the singers the rhythm and meter of the song! This was used a lot by Sacred Harp singers! Common Meter songs go by an 8-6-8-6 pattern, which means the first line of the song has 8 syllables, the second line has 6, and so on.

It’s beautiful and very unique. I found some old recordings from the early 1900s of some of my great aunts singing in that style in Appalachia. Gave me major chills when I listened to them for the first time.

Really nice combination of the actuall OST and some other sacred harp songs. Before the show i did not know such singing even existed, but since then i came to love that genre. It is really unique.

It's called 'sacred harp singing', the album I used for this playlist was- "Vol 104 - Sacred Harp Singing With Dinner On The Ground." It's a really cool subgenre of a capella! :D
