Vitamin K is a crucial activating part of the blot clot cascade. If I remember correctly, babies need it supplemented as neonates bc their gut flora isn’t active enough to produce enough on its own yet.

Yup, and mom’s vit K does not cross the placenta so babies are born deficient

Elevated Bilirubin in newborns can lead to kernicterus :(
