Hi, Israeli here, your review is very professional (unlike some in literary scenes). i think that in order to solve or even just have meaningful discussion we need to recognise that both sides have incontrovertible rights, connections and narratives in and about the land that don't have to cancel each other out. about the audience - considering that Thrall is a Jew living in Jerusalem, writing on a semi - Jewish/Israeli topic, I would recommend you read Philip Roth's "reading myself and others" in which he discusses Jewish narratives and also the question of non-Jewish audience for a "Jewish" book. (P.S i haven't yet read Thrall's book, but i assume it will be relevant based on reviews I read)
Thank you for the compliment and the book advice! This video got more traction than I expected especially since the book is much narrower in scope than what the comments have suggested.
I didn’t realize they had so many categories for Pulitzer Prizes. It sounds like this book is not for me but might read a winner under the fiction or drama categories.
@@engma2006 Abraham never existed. Judaism like all Religions are Fairytale. The Canaanite Israelites did migrate to Canaan in around 1.800 BC they were already there just didn’t identify themselves as Israelites. There are Canaanite Structures in Israel from 3.000 BC.
Later became Israel. There’s an Inscription in Stone in a Museum in Cairo, Egypt called the Israel Steele where the Pharaoh mentions the Israelites and their Kingdoms. Israel and Egypt existed at around the same time.
Palestinians are migrants just as many Jews are. This whole indigenous pissing contest is nonsense. It’s weird watching lefty pro Palestinians getting all blood and soil.
The whole point of the book is to demonstrate that the complicated apartheid nature of East Jerusalem is what led to the tragic bus crash. I’m not sure what statement you’re referring to, but I’m just citing the author himself.
International law is very clear: the disputed territories belong to country that controls them until dispute is resolved. All decisions of GA of UN are not a law and have stature of advisement until confirment by security council.
There is no such thing as the West Bank, it's Judea and Samaria, the most central area besides Jerusalem, Zion, to the Jews and it belongs to the Jewish state of Israel forever
