I would never in a million years take on responsibility for someone else’s child. The parents in this case clearly have way too high expectations. Listening to my friends engaging au pairs, I think this is not unusual. In fact, I am quite horrified how my friends that used to be normal and reasonable become quite tyrannical with the au pair. A common thread is how they expect the au pair to start taking on tasks that they in the past failed to do. Invariably, they are the people that come from a privileged background and are shall we say the “too posh to wash” brigade. That is to say, people that criticise other for not doing the things that they themselves will not do. Glad you are still buoyant. Better out of that game I think.

I am also a peaceful, quiet human being - I attract bullies like the ones you mentioned. BUT they are atheists and I believe in a higher power which always see me through ANY situation!
