Dorian is the Greatest ambassador bodybuilding has ever had. He’s shared with us all his knowledge, his honesty and gave us a blueprint on what it takes to be a champion. There will never be another... Thanks Dorian from all of us. Much Love champ
When I was growing up Dorian was the man!! I loved that he wasn’t in that California bullshit !just trained hard in the gym in a dungeon in England. He was this insane freak that came out of his cave once a year only to destroy everyone on the O stage then back to the cave to fine tune his craft. Real gym warrior!
Dorian, a self taught genius, single handedly breaks the stereotypes of bodybuilders. Eloquent, honest, genuine and highly intelligent. I, a fatherless son just like him, believe he is one of the best, if not the best, role model I have. If I ever achieve any sort of greatness, I will owe a lot of it to him. Thank you for your wisdom, your guidance and your endless generosity. May your legacy live on forever.
For people who did start bodybuilding in the 90 Dorian is the king forever... I can't forget his picture on the wall in a small gym In Morocco ..thank u very much Dorian u did give us a big motivation and in M Olympia show u did show us an amazing fisyque.. As a big fan of u I have to say yes Dorian u do it 100 /100 I hope to meet u someday
What a Humble Gentleman ...you are a true Inspiration.... The knowledge shared in this 35:31min video is by far the best...and may be the best almost the entire database on fitness ..
If there ever was a legendary bodybuilder, it's Yates. Look at the dude training in the old "Blood and Guts" video. A perfect example of what determination is and does. This man and his achievements have inspired me more than anyone or anything else in this life. Cheers.
Dorian was and has been my favorite bodybuilder of all time...I clearly remember when I first saw Dorian, I remember thinking how did he get to look like this? He had a different look to him. Also, the fact that you didn’t see him in magazines like most other bodybuilders with sunglasses beside a corvette or something like that.
Dorian, you were my only inspirational god for the 11 year run in my bodybuilding career! I use to follow your info on training, Nutrition, rest, etc! I was inches away from you at the 95 British Grand Prix in Nottingham but didn't feel confident to talk to you, I was a great believer in your approach and standards you had brought to the sport! your sincerity and knowledge are hugely beneficial for any walk of life. pls, do keep the great work! you are legendary Man
The late Arthur Jones was indeed the pioneer of HIT, with his work well-documented in his famous Bulletins 1 and 2, thereafter articulated by Dr Ellington Darden in a number of Nautilus-promoted publications. As did Jones and later Mike Mentzer, Dorian makes an important point about non-productive training. Many trainees who spend hours in the gym make little or no measurable progress, a situation which can go on for months or even years. Others, of a minority, who train in the same way, can eventually make considerable progress, but therein lies their genetic advantage with muscle length. Irrespective of potential, however, the rule of growth stimulation and recovery is universal, in that there is no congruent improvement with muscular development and the ability to recover. The stronger and more developed one becomes, the greater the recovery time required. A 200 percent increase in strength will not mean a corresponding increase in recovery ability, hence the need for less volume and more rest without any compromising of intensity of effort. Thanks largely to the internet, HIT style training should live on for future generations of bodybuilders and anyone interested in resistance exercise. David White Australia
I’ll never forget him coming out as a silhouette and walking on stage getting down on one knee. The crowd went crazy and he put 1 finger up to his mouth to hush the crowd. The rest was history. I’m older than most on here and Arnold was the man but Dorian is right there. His training session were legendary and his leg training was unmatched. True bodybuilding hero..
Dorian is the most intelligent bodybuilder ever, period. He's so pragmatic and disciplined, plans his workouts and write it down right after. 4 days a week training even as a pro because he understands that recovery is important, not only that but even at his time he understood how the body works and not only the muscles need to recover but also the ligaments, joints, CNS etc... Because the myth that you have to train each muscles every 72h is just that, a myth. If you train intensely with heavy weight, then yeah, even if your muscles are recovered it doesn't mean that the other systems in your body are recovering as fast aswell... Long story short, his advices are in vast majority very useful for us naturals lifter and can be applied eyes closed. Love you Mr Yates and wish you the best for the future, have a great day sir! Edit : there is also studies that show that strenght can go up by 300% when the ability of your body to recover can increase by only 50% in comparison...
What a legend! Open minded, honest, intelligent and humble. Always learning. Someone who’s been in top physical condition looking into spiritual teachings probably reaching higher levels of consciousness then most as well. Absolute top human ! Definitely the GOAT IMO 🐐🙏🏻
One more thing I wanted to add when he won his first Olympia and then he came back for the '93... A few months before the 93... those pictures came out on Flex magazine... those black and white pictures that basically sealed his fate... what a psychological coup... to actually show everybody what was coming; what he was bringing to the Olympia... he could have easily won in exactly that condition he was in the pictures. Unbelievable everybody else was competing for second place at that point.
You couldn't have said it better. Absolutely true. Once the photos circulated the bodybuilding scene, everybody lost their power. He installed fear in everyone's heart. Nobody could beat that and they knew it. He came in that year with the greatest advantage, intimidation was planted in his enemy's souls....
You let the truth out in the open... Hope his then competitors don't see this post of yours... Because it will piss them off immensely 😆... Although they know that's the truth...
You sir Mr Yates were an incredible bodybuilder & Mr. Olympia Champion! Loved the video. Thank you sir for sharing your knowledge & wisdom & insight with us!
Everything I learnt from this guy, via his books, VHS etc over twenty years ago is solid down to this day. Cut the nonsense out of bodybuilding advice and it made absolute sense. Another Birmingham lad here too!
Thank you for sharing your wisdom. I’ve looked up to Dorian since 1994! What a solid man! Methodical, disciplined, intelligent, analytical and down to earth. I have learned so much and will be forever grateful!
Very real honest straight talking bloke. A real man's man who was way ahead of his time and always turned up granite hard to a show, the ultimate hardcore professional 💪
This video should be viewed by anyone who wants to start bodybuilding or take their training to a new level. So much knowledge from Dorian, he's a bodybuilding encyclopedia. He's the best of the best 6x Mr Olympia speaks for itself. Such a humble honest cool alpha dude.
I can listen to him talk all day.. very knowledgeable and as I'm getting older he even makes more sense to me now. I use his hit training workouts and techniques today and at 44 still progressing with growth. Thanks Dorian..
What a bloke. He has to go down as one of the most inspirational personalities to ever grace this world. His wisdom around world events and his critical thinking is 2nd to none.
It's like Dorian was sent from another world to show us how to be great. Not necessarily to become a champion but to show us how to be the best versions of ourselves. Following Dorian's training has taught me to push beyond what I thought that I was capable of. There's no one else like Dorian in bodybuilding and fitness. He'll be spoken about forever.
He is an inspiration because he never uses excuses just sets out to do something and does it. I think body builders training and dedication to thier sport is second to no other. Its a shame thats not more recognised outside of thier circle...and im a 12st skinny tennis coach who has no desire to build. I just know how hard it is to reach the top in sport.
I remember seeing Dorian in temple gym few months after last Mr o, was reading letters I thought omg it's him.....being a Birmingham lad he's the reason why I starting going to the gym .....
Over the years I've watched many of Dorian's videos and got lots of great advice, not just about bodybuilding, but about life itself. More than just being a great bodybuilder, he's a great man.
I can remember seeing your posters as a kid in the 90s and thinking that's not a real person. The way you speak and come across is a way I can understand and can use in other aspects of my life .... I cant get enough of your RU-vid content.. Also the fact that your British helps as I can relate to your surroundings you had growing up
What a great guy and champion, could have listened to him for hours and learn a lot of things.I have learned a lot about training from reading his articles and gained 22,5 kg of mass and strength off the roof in 3 months of hard training in HIT style blood and guts.
I always respected and admired you as a bodybuilder but when you called out Brian Rose I really saw the quality and integrity of the man you are...not many people have the guts to be so up front and honest as you to be able to call it like it is...much respect
I’m 66 train three times a week , 45 mins to an hour and look forward to that book and any products for “ veteran “ trainers . Dorian helps keep me motivated . Thanks :-)
I love listening to Dorian. The constant camera angle switching is distracting af here though. Please stop trying to win an Academy Award and let us focus on the info.
Great, great video! More useful and intetesting information in 35 minutes then what some channels pump out in a month! I always feel good after listening to you. Thanks Mate!
You are a life inspiration mr yates.Thakns for chsnging my bodybuilding philosophy and the way i sse things generally.Keep looking for life quality ...🇬🇷
Dorian Yates is the best bodybuilder of all time , he is very humble I learned alot from him. I watched alot of his videos and I also did his blood and guts workouts good stuff Champ...
The Intensity and dedication he showed in the gym while in his prime, words cannot describe. The only reason I started training was because of this great man. 100% for me ,UK greatest athlete.
Bodybuilding lifestyle it is a nice day full of productive actions filled with those uplifting small victories. No time to walk in circles getting depressed and bloated.
I really wish I can meet Dorian at least once in my life. Watching him on jre changed my life and my physiciue changed so much which shattered all my confidence issues! Thank you so much sir!
My guru my mentor my everything my idol my god my gurudev please train me gurudev iam from India i want to become a pro bodybuilder but i don't know anything about it I want to touch your feet to take blessing from you you are my everything your life reflects me to do something in life like you please help me I always watch your videos in morning at afternoon evening night before sleep in college everywhere iam from India tripura northeast Agartala I need you as my guru
I like the way he puts it so simple and direct, it's real easy to understand.. Unlike these wanna be bodybuilders on youtube that never won anything and they just confuse the hell out of you with all these convoluted therios about how to build muscle..
The most honest, genuine bloke whoever stepped on a 'posing' stage. However easy would it have been for Dorian to have 'rode' his injuries when asked 'how many more Olympias', and said 8-10 more, and yet he straight away admitted he was losing the passion, and said maybe just one more. Not only was he the greatest of all time, a genius within the sport, an innovator and someone who took the whole sport in a completely new direction, but a guy who some of the usual suspects who can't seem to shut the fk up about themselves, could learn a thing or two about what being a REAL champion is all about. Dorian you have been a name, an image, and an inspiration to me for the last 25+ years, and I know I am not the only one who thinks so,and you continue to do so without the 'best physique of all time', to me that really is saying something to the calibre of this man, you put 'us' on the map, we ALL dwell within your shadow!
