This looks extremely useful to someone who is visually impaired like myself. What is the range for reading text? Can it recognize handwriting? Are there options to turn off automatic dictation and only have it speak when you point at something? How precise can you be with what you’re pointing at? What’s the battery life? So many questions, but this is very impressive and potentially a life changer for me if it can do what I want it to.
Hi there I will answer according to the order you aked =) it depends on the size of the text, big letters you can also see 12 feet away. It's not meant to recognize handwriting, but if the it's written in a good manner (clear letters, not cursive) it can recognize it. yes you can customize it depending on what you point at, and how close the item is to you, for street sign no need to be accurate, but for a book you do. depends on the use, can be a full day and can be just few hours Please don't hesitate to contact us and ask anything =) You're also more than welcome to leave us your details here - orcam.co/37ByfqN and we will get back to you =)
What a wonderful idea for so many , $5000 is kind of par for the course considering what it does , hopefully they continue to work on this technology so it can be more widely available and cheaper like everything when new technology comes out it's expensive , but how much would you pay for a glass of water on the Desert ?? It's a game changer visually impaired people & dyslexia Reading comprehension challenges .. Love it OrCam very exciting product good for you ; I love technology that helps people ..
Hello. I’m totally blind and I have a few questions about this device. My first question is when reading text is there another way for the my eye to read text without having to point at it? Will it read the whole page of a book or only the text you point at? Will the My Eye recognize children and elderly people walking by? Will the My Eye device recognize handwriting? Do you have a Orcam location in Los Angeles?
It can read both by using the pointing gesture and by tapping the device. It will continue reading until it has finished the page, you use the stop gesture, or you tap the device again. It recognizes faces that you have programmed into the device. If the face has not been programmed into it, it will tell you if the person is a man or woman. As everyone's handwriting is different, it is not meant for reading handwriting. Fill out the form and a representative will contact you regarding where you can experience OrCam MyEye 2 in the Los Angeles area: explore.orcam.com/en/specialoffer/
Yes it also has voice command yes it has facial recognition but if you haven't entered a name for it to memorize it will say man in front of you or boy for a child and you have to order orcam online @orcam.com
I love my or cam device, But it is well past 11:00 PM on the East Coast. If you could kindly practice a little bit of etiquette when you send out text messages notifying about sales, it would be appreciated. I’ve opted out of emails and text messages, but still receive them. To get them this late is not cool..
Sounds pretty cool I would love to try it being a legally blind person myself maybe I'm jumping ahead a little bit I wonder could it help with driving and also is the speaker on the outside where everyone can hear or is that internal I think I just answered my own question lol it's internal I remember looking at that part And how much this is incredible
Hi There, How are you doing today? The device itself is a sophisticated camera. It's about the size of the finger and magnetically sits on the side of the glasses. An advanced optical sensor captures an image of your surroundings and communicates the information to you through a tiny speaker which is on the inside at the back near the ear. The device can read any type of text from any surface, people's faces, products, barcodes, colors, money bills, time and date - all in real-time and offline everywhere, and doesn’t need an internet connection Just to be clear - The device is not suitable for driving. Using the device while driving can be dangerous for you and your surroundings since It will not allow for safe response time on the road, which is essential for all drivers and driving situations. We encourage that you do not use the device while driving.
OrCam MyEye provides independence by allowing access to visual information, conveyed by audio, on a tiny camera located on a pair of eyeglasses. Using Artificial Intelligence it reads text, recognizes faces, and identifies products. To learn more, click through to our site: orcam.com

@@OrCam Thanks - Wish this had been available in the first iteration. My mom had MD, but could not get comfortable with the original version - too hard for an older person unused to technology to navigate. This is WAY better!

i would have wanted to try your orcam but you never put your price on the screen. I don't want to give all my personal info, name, address, debit/credit card... etc... so I am going to move on. :/ :( Sigh And your 70% off video came up with double print. I'm loosing vision, or at least some vision and I gave up. I just want to see the price on the screen. :/ I'm getting another visual aid next week, to bad I never got to try yours. Oh, well. I' hope someone who needs it finds the price. :(
