Kids in detention almost always tell us that boredom is one of the hardest parts of being locked up. We decided to take another look back at the "Intake" process once kids are brought into juvenile detention after being arrested. In this video from our archive, we look back at the case of Morris, a teenager we featured elsewhere on our channel. Morris was arrested for trespassing, smoking weed and not appearing at a previous court hearing. During Intake, Morris had a phone call with his mom and was then processed into his cell unit where other teen boys were already in their cells for the night. Following the intake process, we then look back at an interview with Morris' parents the day of his court hearing. They discuss how hard the situation has been for the family, and what they're hoping the court will rule in his case.
UPDATE: Morris was arrested for a firearm offense in April, 2022. He pled guilty to being a felon in possession of a firearm and was sentenced to 24 months in prison followed by 2 years of supervised release.
