I loved the shot of steers standing there, as you drove into the pasture without a bale. You can just tell they're thinking "Brothers... What's wrong with this picture?"

Somebody commented the other day that you should take the hay to the field in the back of your truck (saving the tires on the trailer) everyday. When you want to move the trailer, just move it with your truck (with the hay still in the back of your truck) and then transfer the hay to the trailer at your new location. 💖🌞🌵😷

Hey Tyler, Google this (I looked at the images and lots came up): horse trailer rubber bumper. You might even consider using two or three shorter ones spread out to miss where the cows most likely step on the single piece bumper. And about the parts that do not make it to the video just leave them in I will watch anyway. God bless stay safe

That's quite an impressive turkey at the end of the video. And chickens do a great job of mowing. Our 8'x4' chicken tractor leaves a swath of bare dirt after the chickens have been moved. Sure, the chickens require food and care, but they utilize the weeds to create eggs, which is more than you get from mowing or weed whacking.

I move my chicken fence every couple of months. This winter I didn’t cause of all the rain but the grass was growing so much that I had to mow and move. It just before this last round of storms we have had. I absolutely love my fence. I bought Premier 1 cause I didn’t know about Gallagher until watching you. I haven’t checked there’s out cause I’m covered at this time. Thank you.

There are lots of plans available for mobile chicken tractors or “chick-shaws”. I am sure you can come up with something that is moveable and easy to maneuver. And it will give you another project to film!!!!

Always lots of odd jobs - that trailer "step" will come off again, just a matter of when. Think a chicken house will last you into the years but do you have the time and money to do it now? Wish you had a video of the ranch before you started and then did one today - you have come a long way FTR.

Simple solution --> fill the gap with a 1-2" wooden strip, with no gap between the boards of the feed wagon, there won't be a wastage of hay.....?
@markschumacher7408
@markschumacher7408 5 месяцев назад
Filling in the hay feeder gaps keeps hay from falling on the ground, but it inhibits rain draining away and fosters the wood rotting. There are always pros and cons with any solution.
@gurubhat6680

narrowing the wider gaps to stop hay loss and drilling a few holes may be a solution?@@markschumacher7408

🎉 can’t wait for that build!! I think our special needs daughter would enjoy having chickens. But yeah slaughtering them for meat would be out of the question so we would have them awhile. But I didn’t want to ruin my grass. Be interesting to see what you come up with❤🎉 Great job(s), Tyler! Seeing what all that involved I’m impressed you fixed it. I’d be tempted to just remove it Lol I mean you’re an expert at backing up🤷‍♀️😂

For bumpers you could use 1 ft bumpers and keep them away from the door opening. 1 ft bumpers are quite common on enclosed trailers.

A mobile “chicken tractor” is cheap and easy to build. You just have to move it more frequently.
@suzisaintjames
@suzisaintjames 5 месяцев назад
15:02 is it more work to build a chicken tractor or mow? What about the expense? Mowing costs your time every few weeks. Mowing means you have to buy feed. Mowing costs fuel to run. Chicken tractor is easy to move, the chicken have shelter against predators, they're healthier eating naturally. Chicken are healthier walking on fresh earth (less poop means less parasites).💖🌞🌵😷

Question: Have you thought about adding a ramp that can fold up and attach to the back of the trailer or even be removed so that way you would not have to worry about the cows stepping on the bumper? Love your videos. I like how you tell your plan of action and when something changes to inform us why it changed. I also like how you explain your thought processes for your projects.

From my perspective, I'd put another hole and bolt near the end of the long run; where the closure is, maybe beef up the plate. And would it be easier to put your bolt heads through the front..? 👍👍🛠🤔💚🕶

I’d go ahead and add another bolt to the end of the bumper before they tear it off again, possibly tearing the rubber.
