Liam Cunningham looks back on playing the Onion Knight who kept death at bay time and time again, in this extended edition of Game of Thrones Season 8’s “The Cast Remembers” behind-the-scenes series.
“Nothing fucks your harder than time.” Liam you were an absolute legend. I loved how they included him into Jon Snows story after Stannis’ death, it was such a good fit.
@@user-pf7zw9pi6v shut up, how can you be loyal to someone that is dead, he saw good things in Jon, that stannis did at the start before he stannis went crazy
@@user-pf7zw9pi6v You drunk bro? He was ORDERED by Stannis to return to Castle Black. One does not simply disobey Stannis' orders. Stannis was allied with JS, and liked him, so why wouldn't Davos follow him? Should he just kill himself? There was no more Stannis, he had no heirs, and no longer any army.
@@fyivid we had no interaction in Stannis death. He wasn't even mad about Brienne killed him. After his death he lost his personality. He became a different character. Thats because the bad writing after season 4.
The hug he gives Kit Harrington as the poor lad cries. You beautiful, legendary, Irish, wholesome human being! What a privilege it was to see you give the series your all!
Davos Seaworth grew to be from a secondary/background characters to one of my favourites on the show. It was such a nice surprise. That was due to the work of Liam Cunningham, thank your sir!
@@medical-cyanide1526 George said it could've gone for at least 13 seasons, but that would've been way too much realistically lol. If you adapted the books into a show word-for-word, then it may have reached that much, but adapting it for a tv show is obliviously going to change some things. I remember reading that HBO was hoping for 10 seasons but I honestly think the show could've done well if they just did 9 seasons (each with 10 episodes of course) Alas, the showrunners got tired and decided to wrap up the show in 13 episodes when it should've been at least 30 more.
It’s easy for George RR Martin to say that when he hasn’t finished a book since the series began and stopped helping with writing / dialogue since season 5. D&D are by far the biggest culprits of the decline in quality, but George has his share of the blame.
I loved that Davos joined and gave his loyalty to Jon Snow. He is a good man and always tried to help even tho he wasn't truly a common knight. Great character arc tbh
Same, the way he was there for Jon and took care of him and wanted to give comfort when he came back to life was beautiful 💗😭 and when he took care of him after he almost died of hypothermia
I’m currently rereading the books for the second time and Ser Davos is by far the most underrated character. He continuously faces death, the death of his crew, his sons, nearly himself after eating raw crabs on a spec of an island. And yet, he is a man who has the most humble beginnings, has a better since of honor than most lords and knights. He has respect even for those who would spit on him and his smuggler past or have him burnt at a stake.
I like how he also goes along with Jon, Tyrion, and Daenerys in that they've been looked down and pushed around their whole lives yet still try to better the world. The privileged lords of Westeros look down on Davos for being low born despite the fact that everything he has he got because he worked hard and earned it
Oh... the good old days when Game of Thrones ruled the earth i really miss those days and the late nights being sucked into the world of magic and dragons it was so captivating... It's actually really hard to put into words how much i love this show. I must also point out it looked like Kit Harrington broke down here 5:59
Agreed. I noticed that moment with Kit 💗😭 he said he did have one on his last day in an interview. I think that was a beautiful moment between him and Liam, I burst into tears lol. I think bc he was trying to comfort him, and it reminds me of Jon and Davos exactly the BTS of the scene in 6x3 that they show here at 4:56 (sorry idk how to put time stamp in)
Easily, no debate whatsoever, my favorite character in the show. He did what he thought was the Right thing to do no matter how hard it is. Out of all the tear jerking scenes in the show, I haven't cried harder than scenes involving Ser Davos directly, my tears were the huge.
Even Sir Davos’s father-daughter relationship with Shireen Baratheon and Liam Cunningham’s acting at his heartbreak that Melisandre sacrificed her; burned her at the stake are all much better than season 8
Ser Davos is the one of very few sincere characters in the series. He had my heart from the beginning and held it til the end. So glad he wasn't killed off, he was one character everyone routed for. He would've been the very best hand of the king if Jon took the throne. It's not too late to rewrite the ending guys....please.
The perfect actor for the job. Spectacular performances from the man that made me love his character. All the kudos. He is my headcanon for Bayle Domon in Wheel of Time.
by the time george rr martin finishes the books and the fact it takes 2 bloody years just to make 8 episodes we wont even get the chance to watch it. maybe when were 80.
Right on this comment is why people is never going to be happy with GOT, one person wants a remake of S8, another person wants a remake of the entire show and the 3rd one just complains that good things take too long to make :D
I’ve been binge watching these, & the end speeches the actors give, I can hear the emotions in their voices & it’s making me tear up, I’ve never liked a series more than GoT, before or since..I know people have mixed feelings about the final season, I just appreciate it & love it in it’s entirety! 🙏 I wish HBO would give us a 4 hour Snyder version of the last 2 episodes lol..
I've actually never watched it in full. I'm currently about halfway through Season 6. Though I'm actually more looking to seeing just how overblown everyone's complaints really were about the last two seasons.
Absolute brilliant actor if any of you get the chance have a look at a movie called Harry Brown with Michael Caine and Liam not bad for an electrician from the North side of Dublin
There's quite a lot of decent/good stuff around, yet I haven't found anything that engages my interest to that level. Not even close. The characters, the interwoven sub-plots, the perfect casting... a lot of stars must have aligned in order for it to happen, so to say. It won't be easy to reach that level of entertainment again.
Tbh i can only imagine that right after the show ended and the actors and actress leave the set and they then would all go to a pub or bar and have a toast to the amazing show that game of thrones was
If competent writers were in charge of game of thrones we would be getting behind the scenes clips of season 10 instead of this greatest hits stuff. Also the series would end with season 12 in 2023.
It's sad seeing how much people have turned against GoT as a whole. Just because the ending didn't live up to expectations shouldn't undo the experiences and excitement that did happen. The positives far outweighs the negatives and for that I will always fondly look back at the series.
if people would stop it with the "they ran out of source material'' bullshit that would really help. First they didn't ran out of goddamn source material they ran through the first three books on a breakneck pace and they absolutely gutted the fourth and fifth book, if they had just actually adapted the books as they were written the first five books would have been good for six to eight seasons at the least. Secondly George gave them a list of important plot details and revelations, thirdly both experienced as well as inexperienced writers could have done a much better job then the villains Dan and Dave, especially if they had been actual fans of the books. Finally there are such things as logic, natural plot progression, character arcs and a thousand thousand fan theories that would have made for a better ending.
Davos Seaworth apparently was supposed to be in a love triangle with Missandei and Gray Worm. Davos Seaworth actor Liam Cunningham said that was the creepiest thing he's ever heard and demanded the love triangle with Missandei be removed.
