From advice for Jorah, to his favorite day on set, Iain Glen looks back at his time on Game of Thrones in this extended edition of Season 8’s “The Cast Remembers” behind-the-scenes series.
@@OblowVlogs l got nostalgic for being invested in a story and characters as much as in GOT. Even with the unsatisfying ending, nothing can match the GOT saga. And we shall never see its like again. Hope George will finish the books tho, one day!
And it was ruined by “He loved me. And I couldn’t love him back. Not the way he wanted. Not the way I love you.” What a wonderful thing to say a day after Jorah dies despite going to hell and back for her. Simply to protect her.
@@TalkingThrones yes they did. They had scenes in every season. She banished him in season 4, then at the end of season 5 they were reunited in the arena. In season 6 he and Daario met her with the Dothraki army, were she comanded him to heal himself because of his greyscale. Then in season 7 Dany arrived in Westeros, Sam healed Jorah in the citadel and he returned to her in episode 5 of season 7. So yes they had scenes together EVERY season.
Ser Jorah and Daenerys' relationship was one of my favorites on the show. Not in a romantic way, really. But just... their entire journey together. The trust, the betrayal, the loyalty, the love, the friendship. It was all perfect in my eyes. His death makes me sob and watching Daenerys also sob over his dead body HURTS. "All I ever wanted was to serve you." Like 😭 come on man. Such great acting.
Jorah Mormont, one of my favourite characters in Game of Thrones. Ian played the role so well can't imagine anyone else. PS: Happy Game of Thrones anniversary to you all 🍷
The amount of chemistry Emilia had with Iain was immeasurable. Jorah and Daenerys would've been made more sense. Her and Jon couldn't even hold a candle to this relationship.
To me, the scene of Daenerys banishing Jorah is the most intensive scene of the series, both Iain and Emily were amazing there. The moment they talked at the same time, her voice hard and accusative, altenating with his pleading, was so touching. Jorah's voice saying "I never meant" was heartbreaking and when he says "Khaleesi, please, forgive me..." with all that pain in his eyes, I would forgive him literally anything. Great acting indeed. And an attractive actor too 😋
All the years it was joked about Jorah all over the place. Ser Friendzone. But the moment he died, the first biggest mourn over THAT episode was about Jorah. Never forget.
love this guy and adored his character. @4:30 or so.. PROUD PAPA! He seems so proud of his daughter and I find that beyond endearing! Love Ian Glen! He is in a series now called "Silo."
Love watching you through the years! No character was more loyal. In a show where you were never sure of any one character's intentions, Jorah's loyalty to Dani was true and never waivered! Thank you, we love you now and always.
Such a talented actor! His character had such a tragic end, I cried. But you know Jorah wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else, he just wanted to protect Danny.
@Jordan Carreira Theon had a good one, however I think Jorah died protecting what he loved the most. Theon had a good one but I guess running headfirst into a group of Ice Zombies is dumb.
@Jordan Carreira Grey Work can't have kids but still loves Missandei the most, love isn't always about having kids or procreation, it's much much more. Theon straight up slaughtered an entire ship with good planning and an army to get his sisters back.. Wonder where did that go.. What I'm saying his the writers forcibly ended his character by putting him in all alone in front of an entire army. We so need a new S8 of GOT.
My favorite scene of his is during season two when Dany is asking him to take her to the House of the Undying to rescue her dragons. Brilliant acting by Emilia and Iain
Emilia & Ian’s relationship 🥺 and his admiration for Emilia bec Emilia really doesnt think herself as good 💔 and when the people around her talk about her its just to talk about how brilliant she is as an actress & as a person 🥺😭🤍
What an actor. I first saw him on tele in The Fear when I was in high school. Many years later saw him in a Berliner Ensemble production of The Seagull in Edinburgh. Have seen many plays but never saw an actor who projected his voice better.
His character is definitely on my top 5 list. The guy was AMAZING! Love the laugh. His voice is so different on the show I don't know how he did that for 10 plus years! I didn't even start watching the show until a few years ago and got hooked immediately! I have since watched it over and over and over. I can skip parts I don't like and know it so well I can predict almost exactly where my skipping starts. Primarily I HATE the ongoing agonizing constant screaming of "Then Greyjoy" as it is just TOO MUCH and is eternal. When "Jorah" died in Dany's arms I cried like a baby! At least he got to die in her arms defending her as he would've wanted.
Making me miss thrones so much watching all of these😭. It's crazy how many nuances from the show you forgot "blood of my blood" and stuff like that. I haven't rewatched the show since the end of season 8. I want to but it really spoils it when i know how truly great the last season of the show could have been! If D&D weren't in such a rush to film the Star Wars movie that NEVER EVEN HAPPENED ANYWAY, maybe it could have turned out properly. Really is a tragedy to be quite honest.
I really feel so sad for Jorah's storyline. He gave his everything to Daenerys but never got a chance of being loved by her. He was a strong character and couldn't have been played better by anyone than Iain Glen.
1. Had Jorah survived The Long Night, would Dany have destroyed King's Landing if he advised her not to? 2. Would Jorah and Grey Worm try to avenge Dany's death by killing Jon? 3. Would Jorah and Grey Worm take the Unsullied and the Dothraki back to Dragon's Bay, recruit Daario and the 2nd Sons and then return to the North for vengeance. 4. Maybe Bran would have foreseen this scenario and warned Sansa and the others.
Interesting list. my opinions: #1 Yes, she was bound and determined to do it at ALL costs. He couldn't have stopped her and would've stayed by her side the whole way no matter what. As we all know, he was madly in love with her and would've followed her right into death anyway. #2 I don't think so but that is a tough one as it depends on what all he actually knew about everything. #3 No, I seriously doubt it. If he would've lived he would've seen how dark and disturbed she was becoming and would've known it was not a good idea. Also, he knew the 2nd Sons were basically sell swords and couldn't be trusted. And the story never says whether or not Daario lived or died. #4 Well, G.O.T. had fun and games with what Bran can and can't do. They tease that he can see the future but never really outright let it be known. Either way it wouldn't have done any good as Sansa got EXACTLY what SHE wanted all along - TO BE QUEEN or her part of it anyway. She got everyone out of the way didn't she? hmmm Arya was ready to set sail to her future. I believe the first time she got on a ship she was in love with sailing the seas to parts unknown. "What's west of Westeros" ... Also we are supposed to know Bran can at least see a little bit of the future and yet he lets things play out (no, I don't like the way D.D. finished the series either).
Love all the crew from got.what brillant actors they all were ,they did justice to the characters in the books! Jorah cared for her even though he had a sinister plan to spy on her ,themother of dragons from meeting her to his death in the end.he died trying to protect her!
