Sophie shouldn’t be phone focused while riding.! She should have a well balanced saddle as she does look awkward on a bareback pad so not doing the horses back any favours

Id use the other barn to store my hay. Id buy bulk or the hay that i grew myself. I would absolutely NOT get more animals lol

I have been told that too much bareback riding can be harmful to the horse as you are sitting and bouncing on its spine whereas the saddle is made to not sit on the spine, hence the gullet. What are everyone's view on this, would be interested to know. No hateful comments about anyone please.

Yes, excessively riding bareback should be avoided. When you ride bareback the pressure from your seatbones on the horse‘s back is punctual, whereas a saddle distributes the pressure evenly (plus inexperienced riders might be unbalanced and bounce when bareback). Generally you should only ride bareback if you have a good seat and your horse’s muscles are well-developed and even then riding bareback all the time is not great. There are some very good bareback pads though (at least there are in Europe; they’re very different from the one Sophie has) that emulate saddles in terms of weight distribution and having a bit of a spinal canal. Scientific tests have shown that for up to 30 minutes of riding, they distribute the weight as well as a saddle would. However, if you regularly ride for more than 30 minutes, a well-fitting saddle should still be used as the main equipment. Barefoot and Brockamp are great bareback pad brands, but I don’t know if they are available outside of Europe.

Yes, you’re right. Bareback can be useful as a rider to improve your seat. It can help you figure out how you should be sitting in a saddle. But it can be pretty harsh on the horse’s back. Bareback pads are becoming more and more common these days. Though, those with stirrups should be avoided as they create pressure points!

I have rode bareback all the time. I didn't own saddle when I started riding. I was 12 years old when my mare saw or had one on. I only used at show time. Which was 4 times a month. My mare died at 39. Physical Vet checked spring and fall . No problems. All my equines were trained to ride bareback. Yes it teaches you many things. Balance, leg position, muscle memory for you buttocks and thighs, and hands. It taught me not to have calf pressure on the horse. This is their cue to turn right or left. Anyway that is my opinion plus I teach all my students to ride bareback.

I get it Gabby! I love having a clean car. She should clean it her self tho with a vacuun and clean the matts and wash down everything. And the outside of the car. A summer wash😅

The garden looks awsome. If you have to much vegetables donate to your look food banks. They will appreciate it. Especially with the price of food. I would clean it out and use it for hay or straw storage. You have lots of room to spread the hay out so it doesn't overheat. Also i would stor all my summer stuff . Jumps goat toys any lawn equipment. Bareback is a great learning tool. If you ride without a pad. It teaches leg position and uses muscle that are not used in a saddle. Ironically it teaches you feet position as well. Toes up and turned in and heels turned down. Love your riding area. This is good to teach horse and rider to keep the same speed whether up or own the slope. God Bless.

Your Garden is looking great. I was trying to get everything done too before the heat shows up. Unfortunately I have 8 trees to plant on our property. Wish me luck! ❤

sophie should definitely not be on her phone while riding and definitely not while bareback. Lady can spook at any time and she could fall off. Just two days ago my non spooky horse spooked and i was walking bareback out in the open field. I fell off and broke my back. and i was fully paying attention wasn’t using my phone or anything. So sophie should not be on her phone while riding especially bareback where it’s less secure than a saddle.
