King Ranch is very famous for a variety of reasons. My first visit to this site proved to be rather disappointing. However, I'm sure that many have enjoyed tours of this legendary acreage.

Kingsville is my hometown. Born and raised there. Much of the ranch land was stolen from poor Mexican ranchers. I know many of the Ranch family heirs, and grew up hunting and running all over the King Ranch, before the heirs that never really lived there took over and closed the ranch to the public. As you saw it’s pretty restricted as to what they want you to see. I’ve been gone from Kingsville since the summer of 78, but still have commercial interest there. The town has really changed since the fifties and sixties, and not for the better.

I worked for the King Ranch for 10 years at the John Deere Dealership they own, and I can say the King Ranch cares nothing about people that are good, and instead promotes bad people, and keeps promoting them because it is a fowl corporation that only cares about money for the heirs that know nothing but the mailbox money they receive.. Caption Richard King was a land thief and was never held accountable…

Hello, I am wondering if you knew any of the people at the King Ranch in 1956? Specifically the latter months of 1956. My birth mother was born and raised on the Ranch and lived and worked for the Kleberg's (Mary & Richard aka Dick).

@@Outback_Hunter you may be hunting on the ranch but you’ve been misinformed about how much of the land was acquired. If they didn’t sell they went missing and the land was absorbed into the ranch. Facts.

I went to college at Texas A&M University Kingsville. Worked on the ranch during the summers herding cattle and repairing fences. Had a interesting experience with a HUGE rattle snake there. A LOT of interesting and controversial history involving the King Ranch. They have their own community and school.

Good video. I've never been to Kingsville. Sad to see so many shuttered buildings, especially the Texas Theater at 1:41. The town must have been bustling at one time, but nothing escapes the cycle of life.

I didn't know Richard King was a carpetbagger, but it makes sense. A lot of Yankees came and picked up distressed land after the Civil War and became super wealthy.

You don't know what you're talking about. King moved to Alabama and ran away from New York as an indentured servant at 10 years old in 1835. He lived his entire adult life in the South and most of his childhood, and supported the South more than you ever have and ever will.

Born and raised in Kingsville, TX, worked for one of the many attorneys for the King Ranch. If you're planning to visit the King Ranch, DON'T, you will be extremely disappointed. The big house is not a big house. The King family is now a corporation and has been for quite some time. Old man King did not come by his estate honestly. The 14 mile stretch around the ranch is ugly and very boring.

If it is a town in Texas, why isn't it an open community, with people living in it ?? Because it's being held for other purposes, and where is all the money given to it from the US government.??

This guy does not cover the city of Kingsville. At 1 time it was just about owned by the King and Kleyberg families and some others involved. The city today is home to Texas A&M University/Kingsville ( Formerly Texas A&I University ---- the A&I stood for Arts and Industry ), a US Naval Airbase, at one time had a Monitoring station of the Federal Communications Commission, and about 25000 plus population with everything a city that size would have. The Southeastern adjacency runs into Baffin Bay. a salt water marshy area of the South Texas Gulf coast. Kingsville is about 25 miles to the South Southwest of Corpus Christi Texas, an SMSA of about 400000 population. His coverage of the city itself is very misleading.

We had an orange and grapefruit orchard on the entire property. We had a large lake that had the most beautiful sunsets. I wish I could find that place again.
