I love Yasujiro Ozu films, and I recognize these scenes instantly. I appreciate the great aesthetic wisdom of the BFI for making this wonderful trailer.
Many lovely images and warm, poignant moments from this great body of work to be seen here. What the trailer cannot fully convey is the extraordinary technique Ozu developed and employed that made his films so utterly distinctive, unique even, in the medium's history.
To anyone reading this, if you find yourself even a tiny bit invested when pondering about elusive concepts like the "meaning of life" and "the human condition" and you haven't seen his films, DO NOT waste any more time! You simply cannot experience them soon enough!
