In 1971 I was forced to give up my baby boy for adoption. I was sedated the moment I gave birth to him. The nurses never let me see him, touch or hold him! The worst day of my life. Eight years later God blessed me with another baby boy who is now the wonderful father of my grandchildren! I love them so very much and I am blessed and thank God everyday for bringing a baby boy to a loving father and mother! I never saw him nor have heard from him! But I will always love him ❣️🙏❣️🇺🇲
Why do people react so terribly when they find out they've been adopted. Why not be grateful there were people wanting to love and care for them. Saves them all the trauma plus maybe disappointment if told earlier and they feel compelled to search for them.
Exactly. But to be fair, this was a different era. Back then, blood-relations were held supreme; much higher than adoptive or foster parents. It used to make me angry when I was a child, as even then I knew that true family is who REALLY loves you & cares for you. Blood is incidental.
I have four cousins that were adopted . Two of my aunts could not have children. They all gave my families so much joy. I know that they have searched and found the birth mothers, but they always loved their adoptive parents as their own. 😊😊
As a stroke survivor this story touched very close to home with me…. When I was 20 I got engaged to my now late husband. My mom then told me my dad was not my father. She gave me initials and the last name and that’s it! I would like to get a better understanding of the health issues that may have prevented my stroke! And may help my children and my childen’s children in the future.
Wow, when Patty Duke is standing in the rain after Melissa Gilbert opens the door, you can really see the resemblance to her son Sean. Thanks for uploading this, she was such a wonderful actress.
RIP Patty Duke (Beth) and Ashleigh Aston Moore (Megan). If anyone is wondering about the true story, the movie is (very loosely) based on the book, "Jody" by Jerry Hulse, published in 1976. Jody's husband Jerry had to try to find out her family medical history because she was too ill to travel. Her birth mother had been raped by a neighbor when she was 15 years old, her parents blamed her, telling her, "you should have run!". She gave birth to twins, a boy, and a girl. Her parents kept the boy but forced her to give the girl (Jody) up for adoption. Jody was able to have the operation she needed, and reunited with her birth mother.
Both Patty and Melissa were amazing actresses. They were in movies that were really good to watch. These two women had so much pain and trauma which all came out eventually. Thank you
Thank you so much for uploading these Patty Duke movies. She is an excellent actress. I'm just getting into her and really gaining an appreciation for her talent. But the only reason I am able to do that is because people like you upload these movies on to youtube. So THANK YOU!!!
I remember when this movie first came out. Some things I remember some I didn't. From this movie I get that we must tell the truth forgive and learn to put the pass behind us . I wish life was as easy as the movies
MOVIES SEEM TO THINK THAT THERE'S NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN MEETING THE DEADLINE ON THEIR FILMS. IF THEY'VE NEVER EXPERIENCED ANY OF THE SERIOUS ISSUES THEY'RE ASKING THEIR ACTORS TO PORTRAY, REAL SURVIVORS CAN SAY THAT THE MOVIE WAS VERY INACCURATE.
Sadly, this is sooooo common as far as how the movie industry changes the story in a movie. Why would the author even agree to that as well? I get that there is a budget & time plays a roll, however that does NOT excuse the embellishments. Oh well, right?
And vice-versa! Sex or cheating doesn't 'just happen'. While I don't condone any of it, I can 'understand' if a kiss happened, but to have sex...there is a LOT OF TIME to stop it in between smooch & screw!
Thank you for all of these Patty Duke movies especially this one with Melissa Gilbert my name is Peggy Lynn I live in Corbin Kentucky God bless everyone
Patty Duke, Melissa Gilbert, and William Shatner all in the same movie. I love it! Great story ,although very sad in places. I didnt know Gilbert and Duke had been in another movie together besides The Miracle Worker.
I had a large hemorrhage in my eye several years ago. It blinded me in my left eye. Thankfully the eye doctor was able to treat it so I got 98% of my vision back. This movie is beautiful.
I’d met William Shatner through a renowned concert pianist of whom I was seeing back in the early 90’s and he was so formal, but, genuinely, friendly. Yes, I have to agree that this was a great line up of an actor and 2 great actresses in one film. ❤❤❤
I know how good Melissa Gilbert was in all of her movies, but I forgot, because it's been years, how good of an actress Patty Duke was, as well as her movies being fantastic.
Rape is one of the most heinous act's that can be done to a person. God punishes the one that destroys his innocent soul. God bless all that have been violently abused.
A decade or so later from the reprise version of the Miracle Worker both Melissa Gilbert and Patty Duke working together. In the original Miracle Worker (1962) Patty Duke played Helen Keller and Anne Bancroft as Anne Sullivan. In the remake (1979) Patty Duke as Anne Sullivan and Melissa Gilbert as Helen Keller. William Shatner played with Patty Duke in the late 70's movie The Babysitter.
I was just thinking about the Miracle Worker and that these two fabulous actresses have worked together before. I was going to comment until I saw you had already done so. I didn’t know about the movie Patty did with Shatner though. I’d like to see it also.
So many people are not using their brains here and missing the entire point of the film! Some of you pointed out that she should be grateful that she was adopted and just be thankful and happy...you really don't understand the whole reason she needs to find her blood parents? The film is very self explanatory. It's easy peasy to understand it, honest. If you actually pay attention then it will answer your questions. Plus as an adult, if your "parents" told you that you were adopted, you'd be upset too and start to question your identity. Common sense people!!
I just read that Ashleigh Aston Moore (Megan) died some years back. I remember her from other roles too. She was so young, age 26. From pneumonia & bronchitis.
I remember seeing thus😢 movie years ago when it first came our I'd forgotten hiw😢 good it was Patty Duke And Melissa Gilbert excelled in their roles a lot of sadness 1:16:58
Family of Strangers (TV Movie 1993) / 6.1 Julie must disclose her family's medical history before undergoing major surgery, but when she questions her family, she discovers that she was adopted; later she learns that she was conceived from rape.
@@juneberry1982 And to think, Beth was around Jake all those years, and he knew what he did to her. I know it's a movie, but it's creepy to think about.
1:54:10 ***spoilers ahead*** Its sad she didn't want to go with her daughter! . I wonder why she didn't want to leave. I guess she loved her business/shop, the town. I'm glad she visited, though! That was a nice ending.
Why is everyone so upset about the commercials? I wish we could Skip them...but I just fast-forwarded them! Plus, its kinda cool to see commercials from yesteryear. God, how much more 'pleasant' even a commercial was.
@@GeeKneeMarie Thank you!! I said the same thing....why can't people just fast-forward?? I guess its the younger generations....they didn't have to fast-forward, like we all did.
I really wish this contributor had taken the time to edit the commercials out. This was like VCR from the eighties! I have requested that RU-vid not recommend this channel.
