So did I, it was no love, no mercy, no compassion drugs and severe abuse. But God in his mercy spared me, but when I watch Family I felt so much love and relieve and relaxed you know safe.
I wish I had lived in a warm, loving and compassionate home such as this. So much luv... So much affection. I'd give anything to be loved and cared for in a dear, sweet FAMILY such as this......Words, just cannot describe. These definitely were SIMPLER times ❣️
They were only simple and perfect on TV. You're romanticizing the era of Cambodian genocide, Ted Bundy luring, raping and killing young girls, and there were riots, drugs, shootings, and loss of employment and lack of basic needs in US and all over the world.
@@SnazzyDetritus that’s true but there’s no time in history that has been ideal. There’s always sadness in the world I doubt that’s ever going to change. ☹️
@@jaydahome-teillarddeyry6200 you must realize that that was exactly my point, along with the fact that romanticizing any time in history arbitrarily is ridiculous for these same reasons.
@@anthonycaruso3688 Certainly some TV series today are great but there are too many reality shows out now which, IMO, have virtually no entertainment value whatever.
Just saw a photo of Kristy and Gary recently on Facebook. They still keep in touch. They were standing holding hands side by side. I had a relationship with my brother the same as Buddy and Willy. Lost my brother in 2022, miss him dearly. He was my best friend. We were 5 years apart.
Same here. I lost my brother 11 years ago February 17th. He was 58 and we were 5 years apart. I know what you're experiencing and I'm sorry for your loss.
Me and my beautiful mother would watch these each day and I looked forward to sitting on my fave blanket eating coconut cookies that came in the green box with a glass of cold milk....My Goodness those were some special , priceless moments...
Wow.loved this show.i was 16 yrs old when family came out.wonderful acting.enjoy watching this on you tube.it is sad that the actor james broderick who played the dad passed away too early.miss the 70s good times
I'm the opposite - I've seen waaaaaay too much of it. Especially true crime stuff. I was a true crime buff and an armchair detective for decades, not to mention all the nasty things they stream on tv these days. I just decided a year ago that I can't take it anymore, so I come here to RU-vid to watch old shows like this. It's been really good for me - I'm less anxious and worried these days. Calmer and happier. Retro sitcoms and game shows are the best! Don't worry about "worldly" tv... you're not missing anything! It's awful.
life was so sweet and slow in the seventies.everyone cared about what really mattered.not alot of flash but substance instead.just the opposite of today.
How did we live with no cell phone, no voicemail. I love this show and I get misty eyed missing those times yet grateful we can relive by watching reruns/uploads. Thank you Uploader.😊
We lived well enough, but I would need a cell phone in case my car breaks down on the highway at least. I remember having to walk to the closest exit or hoping a cop would come by.
It was really wonderful to live those days i grew up watching this show i was about 16 ... and yes no cells no phones no internet....these days people don talk no more, dont socialize ,and kids tex in acronyms...3 letters means a phrase 😱😱😱its crazy these days ....I miss this show and those good old days....thank god we can watch something decent without crazy unexpected scenes popping up.😊🙏😊
This show and the Waltons was my mom's favorite shows. She admired Kate so much. (and she kind of looked like her too : ) This makes me feel like I'm in the 1970's- 1980's again. Boy do I miss her and my dad - and those times : )

I absolutely loved this show. They were an awesome family. I know they were on TV but I let myself believe they're really a family. I alway loved family ❤️ shows like this. I actually love the clothes they wore in the 70s.

here it is - the person who doesn't know the meaning of the word "underrated" .... this show was far from underrated - it ran for five seasons to critical acclaim ... "Family was widely acclaimed, with many critics calling it a bright spot of quality in ABC's primetime schedule..." it also won several awards ... "Family was nominated three times for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Drama Series, in 1977, 1978, and 1980. Three of its stars won acting Emmy Awards" ...
I had a girl Crush on Kristy. I was a tomboy and tiny. But the mother . She was my favorite. But I also loved the brother. And I also had a beautiful big sister I couldn’t relate to. The mom was calm and understanding, kept a beautiful house. The house was and still is my ideal home. The dishes the upstairs and downstairs. Loved all of it.
Absolutely loved this show!! I found season 1&2 on dvd at a St.Vincent second hand store a few years ago, love it, have watched it many times. I was a little little kid when it was on but loved Kristy Mc, the dad and brother. So glad to find this as the other seasons aren't available on DVD.

Yes.. however, in earlier years there was no internet. People who were not educated in medical professions were kept in the dark about most medical information and often didn't know any better. All the "brilliant " parents of this generation have the internet and information at their finger tips.
Aaah, no social media, no cell-phones, and neighbors actually knew and helped you when your parents weren’t home. Lol, my next door neighbor actually told me to go straight inside and do my homework and when she’s through baking cookies she’ll bring me some over, as she knew my mom wasn’t home yet. Also, do not open the door for anyone….With all life’s problems happening even back then along with the good, What a time!
Willie is my favorite of the Lawrence children. I don't think of Buddy as a tomboy. She was casual in the way she dressed and laid back in her manner most of the time. But she was fierce when it came to being fair and doing the right thing, not only for others but also for herself.
My siblings and I, watched every single episode of "Family", back in the 70's. I became infatuated with Kristy McNichol, and I actually met her, in person, six different times. I, bought the complete first season DVD set of "Family", however none of the remaining seasons were ever made available to the public.
Used to love this show. Had a HS boyfriend who was the spittin image of this young man too. Everyone saying a toddler with a fever isn't anything - sometimes it can turn into pneumonia or asthma.
I loved this show because it taught so many coping skills that were learned at home. The big learning curve is lost in the shuffle of swipe it on an app. The real has too much makeup on. And some of the newer generation don't know how to communicate verbally. However, I am hopeful.
thank you, I was too young to understand this show when it first came out but know I love watching it. I'm glad you posted them. I watch your post of Family almost everyday.
Me too! I just BARELY remember this show and my main memory is of the pictures on the piano, and how pretty Meredith Baxter Birney was - both in the opening. I also remember wondering why the blonde tall brother was always cranky. I didn't yet understand sarcasm. I'm so grateful for being a little kid in the 70s and being raised on shows like this.
@@JaneDoe-zr4px Yes that's about how i remember it, I remember my sister who is much older than me and my Mom talking about the episode they where watching and commenting, they liked to watch it, i would for awhile but than as a kid would got distracted with something else in the house, such good times we had a colored tv. that sat on a tv. stand, who has those today. 😊🌼🌸🦋
I don't think I watched this show . . . either very much if at all, but I remember the commercials. as I watch more episodes on here, it sure makes me feel like i'm home. haha
tv families are never real. i loved the Waltons for years until i found out the truths about will geer and grandma. lets just say in real life those 2 were the opposite of the characters they played on tv. and heres a note for someone whose child really does have a temp.found out with a digital thermometer .;give them a pedialyte popsicle and put them in a slightly cooler bathtub.than usual.over the age of 2. it worked for my 2 daughters. it will work for your children too.
If my child was in the condition that Timmy is and the nurse said only a few moments please, I’d hate to think what would happen if she said that to me!!!!
Nancy was fine with the lumbar puncture but falls to pieces at the sight of a oxygen tank!? I’m sorry did Nancy and Jeff leave Timmy in the hospital alone so they could celebrate with the family??
Wow! There was a "brother" Timmy who died in s boating accident. He was older than Buddy, younger than Willie. How sad that "nephew" Timmy is dangerously ill!
Yup, that's how we managed without cell phones. We called over and over and worried and worried until someone either answered or showed up. It was so inconvenient.
I remember first seeing her as Doris Martin's neice April in an episode of the Doris Day Show. In that episode, Meredith thought she was pregnant only to discover that her husband in that episode didn't want the child. Meredith looked so cute in that episode. Long blond hair and glasses.
I was in jr. high back then. I liked shows with humor. I never watched this back then at all. now I am watching all the episodes and love it. all the guys loved the daughter. I did see little darlings back then though.
Ya fall in love, get married, have baby, walk in on husband in bed with another woman. She may be prone to sarcastic shots at ex husband, who's living his best life while she's probably still in love with him. It can make a woman cranky.
