Used to love going down to Newport in the busy days of freight

Agreed Mike not quite the amount of freights Newport used to get but wow when it comes to Redsheds well still plenty of them hoooray! A great session there and yes plenty of Skip action you caught. Went for the Arpley hoppers earlier, it was db's first regeared 66651 and it's first appearance on this working. Hope you hsve a great weekend, speak soon take care cheers Nick.

Massive respect for ignoring The IETs😂 Shame we've lost a lot of freight here since the good old days of the 80s and 90s where coal,steel and oil trains were a plenty.

Spent many hours at Newport (as passenger) until a few years ago. Must have improved the trains. Man Picc trains used to be packed 2 coachers as were X Country to Nottingham and GWR to Southampton. A farce.

Did those 67’s need any gearing changes to work passenger trains? I ask because this is the first time I have seen them working like this.

Good to see the 67s being used more now for TfW but definitely a shame about the amount of freight that goes through Newport now. Certainly compared to what we rememeber. No GB workings anymore as well 😔

When do they hope to start making use of investment in overhead wire?

Changed for the worst I feel. Just wires and weeds now.
