CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Wanda (Jamie Lee Curtis) corrects a few of Otto's (Kevin Kline) "intellectual" misconceptions.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
In A Fish Called Wanda, Jamie Lee Curtis plays an ambitious con artist who uses every ounce of her sexual wiles to obtain a fortune in jewels stolen by her gangster lover Tom Georgeson. First, she romances Georgeson's dimwitted but deadly henchman Kevin Kline (who won an Academy Award for his performance). Then, to clear the path for her getaway with Kline, Jamie woos Georgeson's starched-shirt attorney, John Cleese -- and it's Cleese whom she genuinely falls in love with. Michael Palin, Cleese's former Monty Python cohort, plays a stuttering mob flunkey who continually messes up his one big assignment: killing a little old lady (it isn't that he has any qualms about knocking off the old dear; it's just that her pet dogs keep getting in the way). A Fish Called Wanda was scripted by star John Cleese.
CREDITS:
TM & © MGM (1988)
Cast: Kevin Kline, Jamie Lee Curtis
Directors: John Cleese, Charles Crichton
Producers: Steve Abbott, John Cleese, John Comfort, Michael Shamberg

For this scene, it was Jamie Lee Curtis' idea to be as angry as she is - for most of the film, she was calm and controlled, and the script called for this scene to be the same. But she thought it would be funnier and more effective if she was mad, as it just wasn''t funny when she was calm:)

It makes the most sense, she’s on the verge of major loot, has to play nice with every single man in this operation to get it, is developing feelings for a man in the process, and then here comes Otto being the biggest oaf on the planet ruining every stage of the operation I’d dangle him out a 5th story window

Other people can afford therapy. When I'm depressed (all true philosophy majors are depressed), I watch this movie again, one of the five greatest American comedies of all time. Jamie Lee Curtis is even more beautiful on the inside than on the outside, whereas Kevin Kline's humility and professionalism allow him to play an idiot with gusto. "La mer, c'est si bleu, si pleine de poissons." Truer words were never spoken.

And another time my mom was telling him about her trip to Moscow as part of a teachers’ group and they had seen Lenin’s tomb as part of a tour, he thought she meant John Lennon! UGH! *facepalm* The crazy part is, his older brother is one of my best friends and has been for over 25 years, to the point where my husband and I appointed him godfather to our kids, and he’s got more smarts in his little finger than his younger brother had in his whole body!
