September 26, 2023. I’ve lost count how many times I’ve watched this Documentary throughout the years. Cowboys have a GOOD team this year, maybe they can pull out a Super Bowl, its been a while.
They were good and Dak, Lamb, Aubrey, and the Cowboys D helped me threepeat in fantasy, but the Super Bowl line aged poorly. I'm surprised y'all didn't fire McCarthy at the end of that playoff loss to the Packers.
Nate Newton should be in the Hall Of Fame. He was the face, the very spirit of the Great Wall. Such a shame he has been shunned for so long. Give him his due.
Except for until Charles Haley arrived they weren't fit for a SB win. The o-line was great, but until the pass rush fell into place it wasn't a dynasty.
@@tejastrojan nobody remembers, but in 1991 the Cowboys didn't have a single linebacker sack. They opened the 1992 season with a linebacker sack. Fun facts!
It’s always fun to me to remember and talk about the all time great units we’ve seen play football. The Steel Curtain, the Doomsday Defense, the Great Wall of Dallas, the Greatest Show on Turf, Legion of Boom to name a few.
The crazy thing is I saw Mark Tuinei come to my middle school the year after he retired. He had his 3 Super Bowls rings sitting on the table and they were huge. Either way it was nice having a small chat with him. Then 2 weeks later he OD'd on heroin. I saw on TV and was in my mind, "Really f ing really, heroin, come on man".
Larry Allen was a beast. Legendary. Erik Williams dominated Reggie White if he hadn't got injured in that car wreck no telling how good he could've been
If you can put a group collectively in the hall of fame the cowboys o line of the 90's Superbowl years should be in. And I'm a STEELERS fan saying this.
Great Great Memories that I will cherish for the rest of my life...watching this video gave me chills and I won't lie it also brought tears to my eyes.. DC4L...since 1977
When can we get A Football Life of Larry Allen? The only HOF on that line and the strongest man in nfl history. He has such an interesting story just to get to the nfl and I want to hear him tell his story and other people who had to go against him.
As a running back I always kinda disrespected my offense line thinking that they could have opened up better lanes for me. Many so called " skilled" players think the same way - that offense lineman are not as talented or important as we backs and receivers.......... but when you watched the 90's Cowboys if you know football you actually stopped watching the ball and began just watching this line just take the will to fight away of every team they faced ..... True Greatness ........ no doubt about it ........
God i Hated the Cowboys in the 90s. What an amazing team of talent and tenacity. I think this was the greated O-line in history. I dont love them, but man, I do respect and admire and even fear them. I wish they were still around to make Football great. Congratulations Dallas fans for your history. Even if we dont see eye to eye- thats what makes it fun.
This is the real reason why, The Dallas Cowboys. were such a great team during the 90's.It's sad it didn’t last longer after, Jimmy Johnson. left the team.
Blake Jerry Jones got that. His ego could not let J.J. get most of the Credit. That team could have being a 4 to 6 S.B. WINNER, IC NOT FOT JERRY AND HIS BIG EGO.
From 1992-1994, the Great Wall was one of the greatest O-Lines in NFL history, but the 1995 Cowboys had the most decorated O-Line in NFL history. The 1995 version of the Great Wall had the most combined Pro Bowl appearances (e.g., 29 Pro Bowls) in NFL history.
What is interesting. Many associate that line with Jimmy Johnson. Three of them, Newton, Gogan, and Tuinei we're hold overs from the Landry days. And Larry Allen was drafted by Switzer.
I started playing football in the mid 90’s, these guys were my heroes growing up in Dallas, I wore 60 because I loved Nate Newton (my school didn’t have a 61 jersey)
They are going to call me an old head for this one, but let me tell you these men were great. They were celebrity superstars and they were an offense of line you’re never gonna see that in today’s game I don’t care who you put together today just ain’t gonna happen, the nasty wall of Dallas
I haven't seen anyone top the Great Wall. There have been some great OL's in history. The Cowboys 2014/2016 lines were pretty damn good. Tom Landry's best units I would say was from 1977-1983. I do think Tom Rafferty should be in the HOF. But I agree The Great Wall stands above the rest.
Only one member of the big wall of Dallas made it into Hall of Fame. It’s a shame because they paved the way for three championships and Emmitt’s all time leader in rushing.
We lost so many players and our coach after that second Super Bowl over the Bills it was amazing to me that we even made it to the NFC Champ game for the third year in a row. If we would've had the entire team back, we would have EASILY 3-Peted and probably 4-Peted....
I would love to have seen the '94 Cowboys with Jimmy as coach vs '94 49ers NFC Championship game. I agree, I think we take that game and 3-peated as champs.
I have been watching the NFL since the late 70's and that Cowboys offensive line in 92 and 93 was the best i have ever seen. Not saying that because i am a Cowboys fan but they were nasty and mean as hell.
They definitely gave Emmitt Smith a boost. Looking at his stats, he ran for 8,000 yards from 1991-1995 and 6,200 yards from 1996-2000 (4.6 Y/C compared to 4.06 Y/C).
Very if any backs are going to have their second five years looks like their first five. The line was awesome but Emmitt produced behind whomever was in front of him. Smith would've been a legendary RB with whichever team would've given him the ball.
@@Train2kill00 After the 1970s for sure. Things were a bit rougher before then, and the equipment, medicine and field conditions were probably worse than many high schools today.
@5:42 Show any kid this and to take pride in being a linemen. Battle in the trenches. Games are won or lost here. The heroes who receive no glory but determine the game.
I remember Gogan boxing with philly, they were always kicking our ass' but it wasn't gonna be that way for much longer after we started gettin in our groove
Well I remember there team wide outs with old Michael Irvin being there main wr & best in Rb emmit Smith + airmen sending bombs Nice team But this ragtag bunch of misfits together made it possible for the great o-line to help fulfil the high powerexoffence they had.
That "ragtag bunch of misfits" won 3 Super Bowls in 4 seasons. And the engine that made it all happen was The Great Wall Of Dallas. None of that success happens without the best OL to play this game. There have been great lines throughout this history of Pro Football. None top the Great Wall. It's just that simple.
Bob Lilly, Randy White, Mel Renfro, Harvey Martin, Mark Tuinei. Tom Landry changed all their positions. Three of them are in the HOF. And Harvey Martin RIP. Should be in the HOF
This was football at its best, even though I hated those cowboys. You must tip your hat off to them. But haughtiness caught up to them by the end of the 1995-96 season and the cowboys have been a joke ever since.
In a way, Tex Schramm said Tom Landry had a hand on the Cowboys Dynasty of the 90’s. Yes, Jerry Jones and Jimmy Johnson got the credit. But it all started with the old regime in the 1980’s.
Erik Williams never crashes he is better then Larry Allen and that’s scary. Nate Newton n Erik Williams deserve to be HOF a if a Terrell Davis can be in with 6 seasons Erik Williams should have been in long time ago for all those pan cakes he gave Reggie White
@@jamalgarrett-price1855 Sure sounds like something from David Robidoux. Maybe type up Robidoux-NFL Films music. Should give you a playlist of Robidoux's works
Emmitt Smith was not a great back, respectfully. But his line was so dominant, his work was easy. And Buffalo had such a great defense. But Dallas was so good, they owned the Bills. Nate found his way back on the right path, Mark struggled to find it, as many pro athletes do after sports. It's 2023 & Dallas still hasn't gotten back to its glory days. Maybe the best O-line ever. Rest in paradise Mark Tuinei.
Emmitt was the best for different reasons. He carried the whole team on his shoulders. There were other great backs. Very few were championship backs like Emmitt. Yes some backs were faster and some stronger. But none were as complete as Emmitt. #22 was the whole package. He could juke you. Or run right through you. He had great hands. And was an excellent blocker. He did it all.
As much as I hated Dallas from a competitive standpoint(was a 49ers fan), this unit's dominance was one of the unforgettable things of any era! That's probably why Green Bay never got em and why SF had to build through free agency to swing the pendulum their way plus free agency losses for Dallas in the 49er-Cowboys rivalry*! *In the 94 playoffs, the 49ers went for every relevant 4th down. The 49ers got many TOs. Key losses for Dallas through free agency since their last playoff loss. The missed arm bar really tightens that game up! Still, Dallas has 3 HOFers that owe their status to the great wall! And, the Pittsburgh SB win for Dallas was rigged beyond belief or that game was really up for grabs! CAN YOU SAY ASTERISK?!
@@pattrell5257 Dallas had a 13-0 and 20-7 lead. Pittsburgh had almost everything go their way for it to be a competitive game. They needed an onside kick just to make it close. It was a miscommunication on the Pittsburgh offense.
@@jackduncan5442 It did change late and teams can come back. It happens. And, to be so talented, those Cowboys were not exactly blowing folks out anyway. Where it was 20-7, there was no guarantee they would stretch that lead out further. So, coming back was not inconceivable, esp. with the Cowboys. Still, those INTs to a wide-open Brown were GLARING--more glaring than the arm-bar penalty non-call or the Rice fumble against Green Bay in 98(at least, Deion and Jerry sold theirs; they made theirs look legit so that the refs might miss them and there was no replay if they did miss the Rice fumble/Jerry popped right up afterward as he normally did after catches). Now, with those INTs, there was no reason to make those throws and Neil was likely bought...
Zack Martin the experts say is a future Hall of Farmer, have you ever seen Martin dominate like Nate? Have you seem Tyron dominate like Eric William? Bladazz could not carry Stepnoskis jock.
I'll say Zack Martin is plenty legit at his job. And What Williams did for just a short term. Tyron Smith has been doing his whole career. I love Tuinei, but Tyron is the best the Cowboys ever had at LT. It is a bit early to judge Biadazz. But the one he replaced. Travis Frederick could hold his own with any in team history. I do think it's a shame that Nate is not in the HOF. When it comes to that great line in the 1990's. Nate was the face and the spirit of that line. He his way over-due for Canton. And I could add another past Cowboys Guard to that. Tom Rafferty. Raff did great at both Guard and Center. So my all-time Cowboys OL is this. LT Tyron Smith, LG Nate Newton, C Tom Rafferty, RG Larry Allen, RT Eric Williams
@@jstube36 Tyron has missed more games in one year then Tuinea in his career. When Randy white says he wants you to help him fight in a alley enough said
@@dannysavagedraftguru WRONG. Every player drafted on that line was 3rd round or later. Players converted from other positions... they were perfect as a GROUP. Individually, the ones who left for other teams, never matched their play in Dallas. Zack is better than every one of them except E. Williams (not counting Larry Allen... the literal best ever). You are wrong. The new players are far larger, stronger and much more athletic. As a group the Wall was better... individually it isn’t even close.
Not every time. But enough to show that he was as tough as any who ever played the position. The speed to break long runs. And the power to run through defenders. The best ever.
Sanders was a great runner no doubt. The difference is Emmitt had power where Barry did not. Barry made some of the best open field moves in history. Emitt had some himself. But he would also run through tackles. Like Payton, Emmitt was the complete package. That's just the way it is. Meaning he would be great in any condition, any game, and against anybody.
@@jstube36 Barry sanders had a god awful line and still ran right into the hall of fame in a relatively short career ... he just retired wasn’t injured or nothing and he could have passed Walter Payton and Jim brown easily and he didn’t accomplish all that but just making people miss 🙄 Barry did it all and he was better than emmit and that’s most peoples opinion 💯 I’m not sayin emmit wasn’t a great RB but in The same way you can’t say Barkley or pat ewing or Karl malone aren’t great players they are they just played at the same time jordan did soooooo🤷🏻 same thing emmit was not the best back of his generation cause Barry sanders played football 🤷🏻 he just was unfortunately on a god awful team and please don’t give me the rings bs it’s different in football than basketball one guy in the nba can effect the game so much more than they can in the nfl .. you spend half the game on the sidelines ... but just flat out if Barry was a Dallas cowboy not a Detroit lion he has all the same accolades maybe more and way way way more yards 💯💯💯
@@jstube36 and that’s your opinion and I respect that emmit has all the numbers and rings he’s a hall of famer so anyone saying he’s the greatest isn’t a stretch but it is a team sport so it’s harder to gauge some guys get luckier in their careers and play for better teams and that does impact their success and numbers it’s just a fact 🤷🏻
