The only thing I really dislike about this job is when I only have 1 GCD of time left before Gnashing Fang comes up, about to hit my combo-3, and I'm already at 3 Carts. if I hit the combo, it'll overcap on Cartridges, and if I spend a cartridge, I'll delay Gnash by a gcd, or don't delay it, and drift Double-Down like crazy. Thankfully, Gnash drifts by default if you have any Speed other than 2.5, and there are no 0 SkS rings at ilvl660 right now, so unless you want an ilvl650 piece in your best in slot, you need to have that variance in there. It's one of the few jobs in the game that I've actively sought out optimization guides for. I can see the pieces, and most of how they fit together, I just needed that little bit of guidance for how to work it properly.
Also as for sub-max ilvl stuff, that's totally normal. Lots of jobs that can't function with SKS (MCH, PLD, etc) will use a 650 ring in their BiS sometimes. Correct GCD tiers >>>> 0.4% more Strength or whatever.
Fun fact: if you Superbolide while HoC is active, you keep the invulnerability AND get the heal because your health dropped below 50%. Remember this and help your healers :)
@@lizardizzle That is exactly what I do; Bolide INTO Aurora/Corundum, which together means im basicvally topped off without *any* help from the healer by the time the invuln ends. Particularly if theres a Scholar or Kardia on me Tanks in Endwalker do not need healers, and I wish expert roulette would just get changed into 3 dps + Tank already
Gunbreaker truly encapsulates the energy of guzzling 12 energy drinks and pulling an all nighter, Red Queen in hand, and blasting Devil Trigger, to then crash and burn the next day. Still fun to press as many buttons as it allows for though. Cheers Chair, im glad you still put so much work into these, and are as entertaining as always.
@@GayLPer , anabaseios gunblade (I think it is called ascended gunblade), where the bullet chamber is replaced by a shiny crystal, this one might give you allergies LOL BTW, it's my favorite
If you're not hitting Max act on practically every attack demons just feel like they take longer to kill in general with Nero even outside DMD. Dante at least you can practically one shot the chunkier enemies like the giant bug guys with Royal Release, but I feel like Nero has to work a little harder to keep up. Then again I'm really bad at remembering to use any Devil Breaker other than Tomboy so maybe it's my fault for relying too much on buster throws and that lol
Alright gunbreaker mains nobody really came here to learn their rotation so here's the real question what's your favorite Platinum game that didn't do well either critically or financially?

Honestly, part of why I love misshapen chair's guides is that he will tell the truth: that for normal content you can be suboptimal. If you like the job and aren't fantastic at it, you are probably fine.
As a GNB main. I’d say If you wanna play tank, don’t play GNB. You might as well just play MDPS instead, if you want that vibe. GNB is just a strict fast paced tank that punishes tf outta you for any amount of down time, and has 0 flexibility in hard content. 😭😂 (end me)
Gunbreaker is like a class that use FF8 Squall as a base then mash it with Dmc feel combat, Top gun Aesthetic, The Matrix drip and Arnold shotgun crisp sound. PERFECTION
Finally someone mentions Arms Lenght not working with Vengeance, i noticed that immediately when i first picked up Warrior. It works if you use Arms Lenght and let mobs slap you for 1 or 2 autos before using Vengeance.
Its really... idk funny I guess? every time I see a class guide for ff14 its talking about max level for whatever expansion was released at the time of the video. I have been playing off and on for about 3 years now and my highest lvl is an 87 samurai (I have a job and irl friends). So yeah, class guides have never been helpful to me at any point. Fun video tho.
same, the basic guides are fine but I got Warrior to level 90 without doing the 'proper rotation' and never got a complaint for it. Okay so I've not been playing the toughest raids but then why would I? Like you I've got a job and IRL friends, this game is my relaxation time not my 'prove how good I am at this' time.
Any time i see a chair video, i know there's at least one other video that didn't show up in my sub feed before the current one - despite that that's specifically what it's for - and yep. Double chair day, looks like. Don't worry, I know the algorithm at this point chair. Even if my feed is broken I will seek your content to support
6:17 I have 4,000 hours in this game, I have done almost all the content hard or easy the game from offer... BUT I NEVER KNEW THAT THE ICON ON THE DAMAGE TOLD YOU IF IT WAS PHYSICAL OR MAGICAL.
we do not believe in slow breaker - AMEN too bad its the busiest and lowest dmg tank when u play 2.4 Edit: your opener combo didn't take the mandatory reverse drifting into account to make fast breaker viable. after your 1-2-3, you still got ur pot active so instead of another 1-2-3 you wanna pop a burst strike in there and later on reverse drift gnashing back into place. that way you maximize ur pot dmg. do the same at 6 minutes
Don't forget that Continuation will also get Continuation, meaning you need to triple weave in your opener. It also bolts your Gunbreaker's feet to the floor at the same time.
I simultaneously love and hate GNB enough to make it my main job for anything other than dungeons. It's SOOOOO close to being an incredibly amazing job to play but is just off enough to be annoying. Although when learning new content I still usually stick to WAR. Also, 2.45 skill speed is best skill speed.
I gotta say, as a new player to FF14 to play with my girlfriend, and both of us being huge DMC fans, clicking on this video to learn Gunbreaker and all of the DMC memes popping up feels like destiny.
I picked up Gunbreaker because I wanted to tank at level 60 from the get-go. Then I unlocked Continuation and that instantly made it my new favorite main job. Weaving between the Continuation combos makes my neurons activate, it FEELS so damn good
The way you describe how braindead and boring the game has become without actually saying it always confuses me. You're right, but it makes me wonder why one would keep playing if you've noticed it
One of my best GNB Moment.. wasting a Benediction literally in the same frame where i used Superbolide (i was on 100% life for maybe half a second) 8:44 in P11S the double tankbuster was middle in the 6 Min Burst and ffs i love it!
While I agree on the idea that some jobs should be more punishing for those that want that, at the same time it took a job that was semi punishing in shadow bringers and made it much more so in the next expansion, it made my favorite tank to play into my least favorite tank to play with just how inflexible it is. and it sucks because every other tank is just brain dead easy besides drk with its burst, and theres not really an inbetween anymore.
OMG 1:52 Jesus Christ I'm glad I'm not the only watching tanks wait until their HP fall to 20% before they Rampart ...like that's not gonna save you now buddy...
him talking about no mercy window is the sound of a 2.4 GNB main, slowbreaker (2.5) is early weave for the purpose of alignment from 2 cartridge burst, because you have to make burst strike end at the start and start at the end to get its potency in (edit: this only applies to 3 cartridge capacity)
I started 14 as a paladin, drifted around, ended up preferring DPS gameplay but couldnt suffer the duty queue times. GNB is the perfect compromise for me-- all the DPS keyboard smashing i can take with minimal wait times for said smashing. plus, healers like me now.
I literally just don't care and space out my oGCDs enough that I only have to do one double weave. That's basically how I try to do every job that requires double weaving "how much can I space this shit out"
Or be a true 'adventure plate has not been created' gamer like my most recent dungeon tank, and use only heart of corundum for mitigation, making sure to always and exclusively put it in your single target burst window for peak damage.
I've raided on GNB for a long time, and finally this last raid tier just went to my secondary, WAR. HoC is insane in a raid setting but the three cartridge system and lack of significant damage difference just made it not worth it. Why have 6 different rotations in TOP when I could just go WAR and do the same thing, with basically the same damage potential?
Continuation on Burst Strike is like Tsubame-gaeshi on Shinten ._. and that Double Down isn't a natural combo with Bloodfest gives me Endwalker Launch NIN Flashbacks xx
As someone coming off from melee dps into being a GNB main, I'd say GNB is a biiit more "like a melee" because it has no mercy but it might just be me. And that 9gcd still makes my latency cry, I have to live with the slightly misaligned and cry myself to sleep as a result until I someday tackle hard content again and practice the 8/9
This. Basically. Full combo on pull, go into 2 minute with 2 powder gauges and on final combo step, sonic, bz, AOE dot, double-down, finish combo straight I to gnashing combo... Fuck it feels good to line it all up
It didn't give any variation. Using it outside of 2m was wasteful, it was just a damage loss vs holding it. The change didn't do anything beyond marginally lowering GNB's skill floor by preventing people from using it badly.
@@Saterienne except that isn't true... using it on cd was universally better due to higher cartridge generation, holding it for specific scenarios where downtime occurred (or at end of fight where you wouldn't lose the cartirdges etc) was an option, not the 'correct/optimal' way to play (except for the situations where it was. using it on cd was a gain in 90% of cases though)
