A 1470 is more an intermediate than a beginner; that 1470 player would have destroyed most of the pogchamps, given Voyboy and Hutch a good game - who are not beginners either. In this game there were no obvious blunders, neither were there clear strategic misplays of the position. But when you play a grandmaster like Danya that's not enough. Until 13.0-0-0 black's position was equal if not better, but the 13..c5 tactic backfired.

If you're stuck around 500, I advise you to play some puzzles and watch some more instructive videos like this one! You'll find yourself winning more often if you do those things :) Good luck!

Iberium i find that puzzles mostly are based around checks and checkmates,it’s good to learn that aspect but in terms of other aspects there’s not much

@@SuperLari1234 Actually most of beginner puzzles are to detect hanging pieces which is basically the only thing you need to get to about 1100 without too much struggle imo

I would not have off the cuff thought this type of series to have proved as instructional as it has! Daniel it's been outstanding that how through your excellent commentary and not to speedy reviews - rewinds, you make it so clear and understandable in it's instructional value. PLEASE, I'm so stuck on seeing the difference and advantages of playing the modern as opposed to the Pirc. This simple understanding has always eluded me personally. I so hope you will title a video addressing the question. Greatly appreciated from this major supporter / viewer that Shares your generosity. most sincere thanks on this. Blessings from Oregon, ... Mike.

Excellent video! Please continue to produce this kind of content, it's deeply appreciated. Not everyone is a GM, and not everyone is able to properly explain their thought process, but you can do both. Subscribed!

Love this content! I recently broke chess.com 1300 and I'm finally really starting to put positional and attacking or defending ideas together, and how they relate to board structure and opening moves. Hearing a GM talk about moves, watch a plan have to get changed (against someone 1150 points lower, no less), and have everything be as-a-matter-of-fact, in full-command, but still just... _chess_ was really refreshing and instructive. If I may be so bold as to give a tip - don't worry if you stumble with your words. We don't care! Just roll along. We're still listening, I promise :D

This game felt like tortoise and the hare. Daniel was so behind in time with explaining but after a few crucial moves the other player took way longer to make their moves which ended with Daniel's time up by 7 minutes, crazy

Was overwhelmed by how well you explained the theory and thought processes. I wanted to leave an original/meaningful comment but I saw this one below and I couldn't say it better: Daniel, thank you so much for doing these. They have been so incredibly instructive I can't even describe. You are THE best at breaking down these concepts for mere mortals like us.

Well this is honestly a really great place to start. This guy is an amazing player, and sure he's not a "top player"" but I would say he is the strongest chess teacher on RU-vid that is also great at explaining his thoughts. All chess Grandmasters are insanely good at chess, but he's great at explaining why he is doing what he is doing, as well as being an elite player.
