When I see an older American chess player like the smoker guy here who can talk about Fischer I give them respect because there is always a good story behind it about how they learned chess and played while serving in the military decades ago (usually in Europe) or similar.

Hikaru is so laid back, just lets the guy he’s playing smoke a cig even though he doesn’t smoke himself. And the guy he’s playing is also very considerate by putting his hand under the table while he isn’t smoking it.

The opponents of Hikaru make the mistake of moving just as fast as he does in the opening, while they have 5x as much time. That is the main reason why they lose so fast.
@moi7748
@moi7748 2 года назад
Never thought of that actually, but yeah, you have a good point.
@btdrunkartist8292
@btdrunkartist8292 2 года назад
@@moi7748 no he doesn't have a good point. This the main problem with lower rated players,the way you guys think. If the dude with the white pieces takes his time and plays slow,that will just give Hikaru more time to think. He has to play fast. The more he thinks the more Hikaru thinks too.
@ym276
@ym276 2 года назад
@@btdrunkartist8292 Yeah but it's still better to take time and play better moves. If he had spent more time to find the winning combination Nxe5 and Bxb7, he would have had much better chances than in the game

@@btdrunkartist8292 You're clearly a lower rated player.
@jurjenvanderhoek316
@jurjenvanderhoek316 2 года назад
@@btdrunkartist8292 Your point makes absolutely no sense, because when Hikaru's opponent does not take his time, he will definitely make more and worse mistakes. His best chance is to at least try to avoid that. To play just as fast as Hikaru is the worst approach one can take, especially in the opening.
