Getting out on the road is what Linda and I love to do with our converted cargo trailer camper. We're part time nomads and the nomadic lifestyle suits us to a Tee. Whether your RV is a camper van, camp trailer, travel trailer, motorhome or just a car and a tent, there's going to be something interesting for you in the videos we produce. Back roads and overlanding are part of what we do while exploring the western states for beautiful, peaceful and sometimes remote places to camp on BLM and National Forest land (public land). Taking care of ourselves as much as possible and doing our own repairs is a must because we travel on a fixed income and a limited budget. If you're into being off-grid and boondocking or doing dispersed camping whenever possible then you'll appreciate the discussions on batteries, solar panels and solar chargers or power stations and 12v refrigeration. Come on along, we're happy to have your company!

The biggest old building on the Ridgeline is an apartment building, mostly Veterans. Many amazing 100+ year old homes/mansions up there. The waterfall isn't exactly natural, but a Korean War Veteran found a way to use the river to make it. Sorry I missed y'all passing through Hot Springs.

Lot's of good ideas out there. We hope you continue sharing your travels as we get good ideas for stuff to do. Who knows, we might even meet some day. See Ya!

As a kid in the early 70's I lived near the Meadow Creek Horse Ranch owned by the Dole Pineapple Company just north of Auburn California, it was managed by auctioneer Dean Parker and family. I went to school with Cory and Lance Parker, Daughter Tonna still lives in Auburn. My friends brother, Barry Scicluna worked on that Ranch for many years. Occasionally they'd have a horse auction/sale with free hamburgers and all us rural neighborhood kids looked forward to that. It was a very large ranch with no expense spared. Pretty cool to see the connection, loose as it may be, with the two of you. Chris

That cone looking metal thing actually looks like the planter boxes that held the seed for planting on our tractor except that one is a little larger than the ones we had, the planter had gauge wheels that rolled and had a chain that turned a bar that rotated a seed plate in the bottom of the seed hopper that regulated how far apart the seed dropped down a shoot to the planter sweep(plow) that opened the ground and the seed fell in the furrow the sweep opened up and there were covering sweeps behind the main sweep that pushed dirt on top of the seed, depending on the planter it might be 1, 2, 4, 6 or 8 rows planted at one time the planters today are quite different I was doing this as a teenager , driving a tractor starting when I was about 13 yrs old so was in about 1961 until I got out of school and married in 1969

I was in the diesel technology program at Wyoming Technical Institute in Laramie. I was there for a year and fell in love with Wyoming. One of my favorite places to go was the Snowy Range mountains. You went through Centennial just west of Laramie on route 130. There was a restaurant there I think called The Trading Post that served a 5lb steak and if you could eat all of it there was no charge. I want to take my wife back to visit it's breathtaking. The stars at night are like a gazillion diamonds in the sky and you could reach out and grab a handful of them.. I also saw meteorites shooting through the night sky. An AMAZING place to be! Me and a friend would ride our bicycles from Laramie to Cheyenne on I-80 and it was legal imagine that! You didn't try the rhubarb pie that's my favorite. If you're heading to Florida and by chance come thru North Carolina on the return trip give me a heads up I'd like to get up with you have a smoke and drink a cold one. Jordan Lake State Park is a nice campground just west of me and they have a camping area you don't have to reserve.

LOL I was in South Dakota/Custer a year and a half ago and The Purple Pie Shop was where we ate dinner AND had pie! I didn't drive out of my way to go there but I did choose it over everything else available. I was in Custer to pick up an airplane I bought! Yes I will go out of my way for pie also when necessary! Somehow my trips get routed near places that have pie... I swear I don't know how that happens (Google lol). Nice to see a video of you both! I hope you're having a great Spring! OMG! A Stagger Wing Beech! One of my favorite planes!

Is it because there's pie in the word pilot? Is that why we like (gotta have) pie?

That was an epic travel day. Thanks for taking us along. If you happen to travel a 75 through Georgia stop off at new echota, the Cherokee Indian Capital. It is at exit 317 and about three miles from my home. If you are a member of the Elks you can boondock right across the road from there for free. Or I would be happy to arrange that for you. Also, there's the Etowah Indian mounds in Cartersville Georgia.

My great grandma lived in a sod house and she told me that the dogs and cats would lay up there and when it rained real hard, they would fall through the roof because of their weight on the softened roof. She said that is where the term raining cats and dogs, came from.

I wish we could have stopped at the purple pie shop. We went through very early and they were closed. I loved hot springs. The old buildings were too cool to see. Sadly, we didn’t get to hang out long. But glad we could at least stop for a couple pics. I hope you do or did find plenty of camping on your way through Missouri (assuming you travel through). Many of our conservation areas offer up camping and all for free. Generally no real amenities, but some do have nice lake views etc. Safe travels, guys!

We very much love the area all around Rapid City SD. Looking forward to going back maybe next year. So many places to see. When we were at Mt Rushmore in the dining area there was a family homeschooling their kids. What a view to learn near. Must be quite the experience for that family.

The unusual shaped rocks might be the fallen off tops of natural spires that the wind had shaped. I think possibly made from sandstone erosion. I’ve hiked along areas in Colorado or Utah viewing such. I think y’all may have shared a video of such but I can’t recall what state you were in at the time. 🦅

Since you could pump that sucker rod by hand it must be very shallow the ones we had were made of wood with metal pieces on each end that joined extra joints together our well was about 80+ feet deep and when we pulled it to repair it we had to have a block and tackle to pull it out of the well no way we could of pumped it by hand like you did

As always, enjoying your content. I had corresponded with you awhile back about adding a 'scoop' to add air pressure to help keep dust out of the trailer. Thank you for your help. Last winter I had a health scare that set me back so I cancelled my cargo trailer order. I was able to get back on my feet, reordered the trailer, and now I am just waiting the call to tell me to come up and get it! I can hardly wait! If you are passing through central Indiana I'd be delighted to offer you a cup of coffee. One of our favorite places to enjoy was the Pioneer Village in Minden Nebraska. We were there years ago. Maybe that will be on your route south?
@gonagain
@gonagain Год назад
Hello Hassie Jo, I'm so sorry for the late response. I hope your health scare is behind you and that your trailer build goes as planned now. We headed further to the south to escape the cold weather, having gotten 10inches of snow just before leaving home, and are currently in Florida. Thanks for the offer though!
