We really appreciate the work you do. This video's next level with flexibility. Could easily do both these commanders in one big deck box. Then have two complete experiances playing either of them, while taking advantage of their shared card pool!
OMG I love that Tuvasa deck. I've been looking into a enchantment build in commander for a loooong time and this is way too perfect haha. Great video Prof.
Carpet of Flowers, Mystic Remora, Sylvan Library, and a handful of tutors - looks like you've taken some inspiration from the cEDH card pool! I think that's a good move; having those in there should help a lot with consistently executing your game plan. Great video!
I did a quick search on Scryfall, and was surprised how few evasive creatures with Hexproof there are for Kestia. So, here's a few you didn't mention that might be worth including: Geist of St. Traft (not evasive, but still a solid hexproof beater even without auras), Dragonlord Ojutai (loses hexproof when he attacks, but he draws you cards, so it's a trade-off), Cloudform (actually an enchantment for your Enchantresses, and maybe you'll get some manifest card advantage), Ascended Lawmage (the pickings start to get slim here), Slippery Scoundrel (I warned you), Aven Fleetwing (I guess it does the job), Prognostic Sphinx (well, hope you have the cards to pitch to protect it), Soul of the Rapids (eww). So yeah... they don't do a lot of that, at all.
YEEEEES PROFESSOR IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG! I was building karametra, enchantress and then they dropped this deck. I've been waiting for a comprehensive review/strategy guide to compare my list! You have ALL of my support in this one 🙌🙌
I was literally trying to build a bant enchantress deck last night! I was going to use cards from my gw sigarda deck, which was based on yours, and I was having trouble putting it together. Thanks professor!
I love your deck techs, specially edh! Thanks for this! The two decks I’m thinking about right now include Brudiclad and Ezuri, Renegage Leader. The. Brudiclad is because my Saheeli deck seems too simple, and Ezuri because I like beatdown elves and want to try it out. Elves was my first actual deck I actually played a whole game with.
I have had a deck with Tuvasa since I got the precon for christmas, and I went voltron style with it. It works well, but I am now modding the deck to use Kestia. Great video!
Aura Shards is perfect for the Chosen+Enchanted Evening combo. It becomes a total board wipe for everyone but you and you can make as big a cat army as you need for next turn to swing lethal (Eidolon of Blossoms makes this a bit trickier, but you're more than likely able to still have lethal on board even if you almost deck yourself)
I play Estrid Ramp-and-taxes. It has low-key become my best and most competitive commander, easily beating out my Mizzix and Prossh decks - even Rhoon has met its match. The Estrid deck usually plays arch-enemy and does so surprisingly well, but is reliant on having one of either category on the board: mana doublers, oath of teferi/chain veil, a few land-auras or the new Smothering Tithe card to really cement the push. This is surprisingly easy to accomplish. Establishing a Dovescape lock, Solemnity/Aura of Silence-lock, Heliod, Thassa or a Opalesence/Starfield shenanigan are the major win-cons, but the deck just finds new ways to pull through all the time.
I really love my Tuvasa deck, a recommendation from me for other people to try out is Abundance, it rally helps make all that card draw efficient and saves you from decking yourself out once you really get going (it has saved me from this fate a surprising number of times)
I have to personally say thank you. Your present Tuvasa list with a refined mana base is beautiful. People hate it and I was told it's an un fun no friend having deck. Exactly my cup of tea! ;-)
Enchantments are something we've covered as well. The uniqueness that these two Commanders add to and enchantment strategy is blue. That added color provides for a lot of protection in a strategy that opponents already have a difficult time dealing with. It's interesting to see you bring two different enchantment strategies together to compare and contrast them like this. Love the Double Deck Tech and would be interested in seeing more from you.
Drake the troll not really. Tuvasa doesn’t want to attack all the time. She sits back drawing you cards until you can win. Rafiq doesn’t have the ability to draw anything you just play it then swing with creatures. Not a whole lot of thought goes into playing Rafiq.
I recently built a Tuvasa deck that uses Tuvasa as a wincon just by being massive, but I do run a decent number of hate cards. Thank you for enlightening me with the knowledge of Opalescence, I see now that the card is double insane
Totally thought Prof was wrong about Bestow spells resolving as creature spells if their target is removed. I looked it up when I didn't see anyone in the comment section correcting him. I understand it fully now, but wow that's an unintuitive interaction. The rules reminder text mentions nothing about this additional exception in how Bestow works compared to usual Auras. I understand that card space is a factor. It just seems like a fairly important interaction that works the opposite of how you'd expect it. I'm glad it works the way it does, however. Removes that feels bad of getting 2-for-1'd out of the equation. I just wish it was more explicit about it.
@@NotYourAverageNothing not really unattached just means something isn't attached to anything, if you have a shirt in your closet it's unequipped regardless if you've put it on or not. If you never attached a flashlight to your belt that flashlight was always unattached
Great DT Prof. On the note of bant Merfolk I’ve had some great results with Thrasios and Sidar partner, yes I know neither have Merfolk synergy other than Thrasios being a Merfolk, but tamp/card draw plus potential unblockable if you go low is nice.
So I love the content on your channel and how you speak your mind. You probably already have a video planned for this but if not I have a recommendation. The whole issue that's apparently coming up with the next prerelease and how it will affect many of the players in other countries
Would love to see a hidden commander deck. Josh Lee Kwai talks about his 5-color Nekusar deck, and I wonder what commanders you would consider worth running for a similar effect. I myself am working on 5C Sen Triplets: Group Hug effects to load my opponent’s hands and then pivot into Sen Triplets where I turn off the symmetry and try to win from there. There are some back door combo wins as well.
I’m interested in the Kestia deck but not how it was built here. I’d like to build her around the Heroic mechanic from Theros. Those were some of the first cards I played with - my first deck was the Heroes of Khans of Tarkir deck you build a few years ago! So something like that with Kestia sounds really fun to me!
May I add a quick note that Ajani's Chosen and Enchanted Evening (with Opalescence) does create a X amount of tokens, but it doesn't end the game. You can say you repeat this effect X times to create X cats. If you happen to continue the creation of X cats the following hour, you shouldve been warned multiple times by your judge for slow play.
Hey Prof i would love to see a Thantis the Warweaver deck tech using deathtouch creatures and forced attacks. I want to compare it to the one i made a couple days ago and get some new ideas.
I have a Tuvasa deck as well, made up from the leftover dregs of an old Jenara Enchantress Voltron deck I ran a couple of years back. It's quite fun, especially considering that I finished that deck for 20 dollars or so, and it still wins games. Still doesn't hold a candle to the apple of my eye, my Derevi Enchantress Combo deck. That shit is just wild :)
Some upgrades for Kestia. Include thrun and Geist of Saint traft as "Super Bogles". AddRafiq Of the Many and Finest Hour as big forms of support for a big pants wearing bogle. Run a copy of Fumble along with Arcane Lighthouse to bounce opposing voltron commanders and take their goodies for yourself. Other cards worth looking into: Flickerform. Second Sunrise, faith's reward, Angelic Destiny, Auramancer's Ruse. Danitha, hero of iroas. Herald of the pantheon.
Ive always wanted to see a knight commander deck based around Aryel, Knight of Windgrace or maybe you could do a battle based deck around Aurelia, Thr Warleader
I play a Tuvasa enchantress deck with the following combos, and managed to execute most of them today in a game where I was on 3 life and gonna die the next turn: 1. High Market/Academy Rector/Omniscience 2. Enchanted Evening/Aura Thief/High Market (EVERY perm becomes mine) 3. Enchanted Evening/Starfield or opalescence/mirari's wake (all lands become 0/0 creatures and except mine as they 1/1's) 4. Enchantresses/Omniscience/Abundance/thought reflection/Lab Maniac (mill yourself out and win due to lab man) 5. Tuvasa/Enchanted Evening/Protective bubble (shroud and unblockable) 6. Privileged Position/Sterling Grove (EVERYTHING is protected) and for the ultimate emergency there is of course Teferis Protection. There are other combos in the deck. My favourite though is milling myself out and winning with Lab man, never seen it done by anyone else in an Enchantress deck. None of these are infinite combos, but once they go off are REALLY difficult so stop...especially if you have City of Solitude of Grand Abolisher...
I played a Tuvasa Voltron deck in my play group last night; I won a heads up match doing 21 damage. Figured a cheaper mana cost commander helps with the race to the finish line.
Hello, I'm the Professor, and I've smoked old hay dayly for the last 50 years. Jests aside, great video Prof. Take care of that silky sweet voice of yours.
I believe the two commanders in the wrong roles. Tuvasa,, I believe, is more suited to Voltron beats Tuval, while Kestia could be back up. That's how I built them and im having a blast. Your enchantment combo deck is sweet!
I made my degenerate Tuvasa deck as soon as I saw she got spoiled. It's easily my greatest deck lol. I pretty much had every card you reccommended in it already. I'm happy I got my sanctum, rector, and replenish years ago.
Prof! It would be awesome to have a Admiral Becket Brass deck tech next! Shes a tricky commander to build around as most of the pirates we have are...lets say sub uptimum? But Pirate Tribal is a very appealing deck...and I would welcome the help ahahah
I would love to see a brago, king eternal commander deck, using flicker or blink. Or another great one id like but I'd understand if not because they are planes walkers, but will, and rowan kenrith. I like them but they cost a lot to cast. Another cool option for a weird coin flip one, could be zndrsplt, eye of wisdom and okaun, eye of chaos.
I would love to hear this one with the professor voice "Wall of Opposition - Like so many obstacles in life, the Wall of Opposition is but an illusion, held fast by the focus and belief of the one who creates it.
I use Tuvasa as a Voltron commander. Blue lets me stall out until I can stack her with totem armor or ancestral mask. The other creatures I use usually protect her or draw me cards. I like mother of runes in here, or umbra mystic.
Played in a 5-player pod against a Tuvasa voltron prison deck. Took 3 of us working together to kill the Tuvasa player first--even with the person who did the lethal swing having to pay 16 mana to attack with just the 1 creature. Otherwise we would have been all picked off in turn with a 1-shot Tuvasa.
BAAWA Knight that’s how my Tuvasa works. Except I run even worse pillow fort cards like worship and dissipation field. You may attack me but you won’t get a lot out of it. I also neuter commanders with the obvious cards but nevermore is really quite good at locking down one opponent.
Hey Prof why not add Psychic Corrosion into both decks? If you are gonna draw tons of cards might as well mill any possible answers the opponents might draw
I’m still waiting for a Legendary creature in Abzan that has enchantment synergies. I like what black brings to the table: Grim Guardian combos with Parallax Wave and Opalescence for an instant win. You also get enchantment based board wipes in the form of Pernicious Deed and Phyrexian Scriptures. Add in Necropotence, Black Market, Pharika, and Agent of Erebos.
For the enchanted evening, Ajani's chosen combo use aura shards destroy everything you don't control then after you have enough cats, destroy the chosen swing with tuvasa, and destroy the rest of your opponents next turn
I just recently purchased this precon and am wanting to upgrade the deck. I really like this video, but I was hoping for his recommendations as far as which specific cards to sub in-out these cards for? If I were to buy four or five of his recommended cards, I wouldn't know which ones to take out. Can anybody give me any suggestions as to which cards to sacrifice? Thanks.
