Thanks for the post. After the Vai Academy last week I realized it is time for me. I have mod/severe CTS compound with tennis elbow, bursitis, degenerative disc in the neck and trigger finger. Went to my specialist and will be getting the surgery. Just been nervous and this video has settled me down a bit.

Hey man, I'm a dabbler in guitar... and behold- I need carpal tunnel surgery. Happening in March. Not happy about it but LOL it will be nice not to have the pain anymore.. It just stinks I was looking forward to making some progression this year, was my 2022 goal! I'm also an artist. And it's in *both* hands. My dominant hand is my left- but I write/draw with my right. And play a right handed guitar. This video gave me some insight on what to expect. thanks!

Wow your so lucky to have been given sedation, and been given pain relief meds!. I'm in Australia, and had my surgury 5 days ago, and was given local anesthesia in my my hand which was absolutely horendiously painful, and was sent home with no pain relief, and went through absolute agony when the local wore off. My surgeon was a butcher, and stitched me up like a wrapping up a lamb roast with string. It's so tight I can hardly move my hand. My stitches come out next week, so I expect more pain. If you need to get the surgery done, don't get it done in Australia!. 😵😢😖

Wow, I’m sorry to hear you’re having a bad experience with your surgery. I live Melbourne, Australia and my surgery was obviously done locally. My surgeon was wonderful and I had a great overall experience. I did go private though but everything was covered under insurance with no hassles. Our healthcare system is pretty good here.

im literally waiting on a getting 2 discs fused in my lower back and now i have this wrist stuff as well going on in my fret hand,, i play bass and electric guitar and a steal string acoustic , what guitar do u suggest i buy for getting me through this time?? should i go like a hybrid/crossover nylon? or like a mini traveler style with lighter string and maybe tune it down as well??, i just dont really know what to do i tried going down to 8s on my electric but its still a electric so 10 mins in im trying to shred again and that not good for the wrist, pls help. playing guitar is all i got since im out with my spine injury but i dont want to do even more damage while i get it sorted or after the operation. is there a update on ur recovery or was this the last ep, i subbed and belled to ya channel will definitely be checking out more of ya vids :)

Djhi Normas Best advice I can give is to simply rest it, listen to your health professionals and take the time to recover properly. If you watched the full 3 part series you saw how much I tried to push it and what I got away with. It was painful regardless. If you have larger long term issues than carpal tunnel syndrome, I’m not sure if I can give much advice to get through your pain as I have no idea what you are dealing with and if it’s just temporary or not.
