---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is another basic video-tutorial that would teach us a way of how to leather-wrap a 'handbrake lever'. It is a related video to steering -wheels, thus, if interested in learning how to cover the wheels, you should start practicing these procedures to become familiar with the hand sewings.
Keep an eye out on our channel! ...it seems that pretty soon, we will have available the promised courses about 'steering-wheels' and others. As a matter of fact, it has not been an easy task to find pedagogical procedures to make our students learn easily...it has taken some time to develop the methods.
I hope you find this video useful!
Cesar

Pre-sewing and then overlay sewing is just beautiful here...coloured threads and all! Master workmanship shows in the details and pride in doing each step perfect! Well done sir!!!

Of course! you can do yours. It seems difficult, but it isn't, if we follow a method and a bit of common sense.

I might suggest using spray on foaming window cleaner to slip it on with. It's super slick but dries out clean and won't stay slick inside. Nice work too BTW! 👍

I have to admit, I can watch the videos' from Cesar Cechaflo and quickly become hypnotized so bad, I forget to hit the "LIKE" button. Folks, guys, gals, everyone in between or whatever...hit the "Like" thumbs up! I am truly into every detail, every movement of each finger, the thought process becomes as apparent as a smack upside the head. Like, Like, Like... I respect anyone who has mastered his or her art and craftsmanship. I have been an ASE Master Tech as an automobile service tech with all parts from a differential to valve resurfacing, electrical, etc. Yes, I felt good at the end of the day, earned decent living, but this is hypnotizing! Amazing and this is number 46 Cechaflo videos' engraved into my mind. Even so, something draws me back to re-watch again a video I've seen 7 times already. This is off the hook great work as one can create the man's personality into their mind, in a peaceful proper place. Blessings...

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 лет назад
+andrew verreault I'm glad the videos are useful! ...I think, you could start with the headliner, lateral trims, door panels, and rear horizontal panel; next front dashboard if so; next turn is for the floor (carpet), and when this interior is ready the seats should be done.
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 лет назад
+Burger Van Dreamz Hello, I've no related video. The first step would be to unsew the 'panel with the fabric' from the lateral bolsters...if it is in good shape, you could sew the new fabric on top...if not, use the old panel as a mold, trace and cut the new layers (fabric, foam and backing) to be sewn together. Thanks for watching my videos!

Awesome! Two questions: 1. What kind of glue did you use Sir? 2. Why you didn't take measure of whole lever, but just a half while doing a pattern in vinyl? Isn't there a possibility to make an error while taking measures doing like that?
@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 лет назад
+BiscuitsForBreakfast Thanks for watching our videos! ...interesting questions... 1.I use a yellow glue which comes in cans or bottles(products in Mexico, where I am)...If you are in USA, check: www.homedepot.com/p/DAP-32-fl-oz-Weldwood-Original-Contact-Cement-00272/100125525 www.tandyleather.com/en-usd/home/department/leather-cement-glue/2525-360.aspx www.ebay.es/itm/Petronios-Master-All-Purpose-Cement-Glue-Shoe-Repair-Adhesive-Glue-4-oz-/291064753112 Do a test beforehand. 2. Half side of the handle have the same size of the other side...In fact, the important thing I should consider is the edge where the stitches would go...as we can see, the handle is thicker in the central part and narrow in the ends. The 'vinyl pattern' is just a guide to get the contour of upper edge (we should take in mind that vinyl is thinner than leather material) the real width of leather piece was determined by the strip of leather (same material) min17:45 to 18:00 Hope it helps.

Watch min three:05 of attached video to have a better idea. What you have to do is pull remove the cover of backrest. I mean pull the 'backrest in vinyl or leather cover' upwards to let one of your hands in to touch and press the 'plastic guide points' to let it free while pushing upwards.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9_LbjyLa9Lo.html

Thank you very much ! I will try to remove that without removing the leather , i just want to paint it.Now i know what is inside :)
@Cechaflo

It is possible to remove it if you insert a thin metallic conical tube into the plastic guide until touching its ends trying to join them while pulling it upwards

What kind of sewing machine did you use there? It looks very good. On the contrary, I would suggest you to think into your abablility to make up a drawing-like figure of what you are doing. There is a lot of unnessery handling doing your work (I could help you with that, probably). Very good to see handcraft thoo. Keep up working!

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 7 лет назад
Check if the 'burlap' is still in good condition. I'd recommend to put on a new one...those 'burlap sacks' are good and it should be hog ringed to the frame and springs over. Then it comes the 'padding' and to get a smoother and more even surface you could cover it with a layer of 1/2" of an inch foam.

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 лет назад

is that white pencil a normal cloth marker please?
@Cechaflo

I used a 'black pen' to mark on the wrong side of leather material. To mark on the right surface of leather I used an 'erasable waxed black pencil'. The arrows on top were marked with a white waxed pencil.

What size of thread do you use on your stitches?
@vickikgibson9470
@vickikgibson9470 7 лет назад
you can get good upholstery threads at any good sewing location, or at a local repair shop. It is heavier like some crochet threads so you have an idea of weight. Usually 3 ply bonded Nylon is the common thread size, which seems to be what he is using here. Here is a link for you! www.superiorthreads.com/product/application/upholstery-thread/

Sorry Chris for delay in answering...I didn't see the comment.Thanks, Vicki for your reply and sharing of the link. For the Euro stitches as the one of the video I use a polyester thread number zero...I think it corresponds to number 207 in USA...this thread size is also useful as decorative on 'double stitches/french seams'. Check this other link:www.thethreadexchange.com/miva/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=TTE&Category_Code=polyester-thread

@Cechaflo
@Cechaflo 8 лет назад
