Actually, I did know about the Google hum to find a song feature but NOT about the now playing feature on Google Pixels since I've seen so many ads on RU-vid for the Google song humming feature thing.
Another Google tip is that if you use the Google Clock app for your alarm, you can set a routine to go off when you dismiss your alarm. I have mine set to turn on the lights, adjust the thermostat, tell me the weather, what's on my calendar, and more. No more having to talk to Google in the morning!
Thats actually a really helpful tip for somebody whos obsessed with tech and smarthome stuff, but refuses to put a wire tap in my home lmao Im definitely gunna use that. Ive never been able to use routines to its fullest extent I feel like
@@GlorifiedGremlinOk this is 5 months old but I gotta know. You have a "wire tap" on you *everywhere* and *all the time*. It's your phone. How is that different? lol
Also since android 12 there is a setting and quick toggle to completely disable microphone access to the entire OS and apps, it overrides the per-app microphone permission
Same here, but I think it's less that he didn't know about it and moreso, that he believes that other people didn't know. Plus he is trying to be more like MrWhosetheBoss featuring hidden facts lol 😅
He def knew 💀 Just wanted to make a video informing people... I remember him talking about and using it with the boys in his podcast about 2 months back
I love SoundHound, so many times I'd hum a song and it picks it up so quick. Last one it got for me was Alors Dance (or however it's spelled) even when my humming was atrocious
Googles music thing is def better for non English songs tho. I tried a few songs in different languages and sound hound struggled with those and got them right less than 30 percent of the time while google got them or at least a suggestion of it every time
Thank you so much for this Marques! I was able to find a German song that I used to hear all the time in 2014 when I was in Germany. But I don't know the language so never could tell which song it was. Until now. Google's awesome
There are million and billions of music out there from listening to recognize and matching them in real time and show the results in a second is juat amazing
There's one big pain point I have with this. If I have a google assistant playing a radio station on TuneIn or something similar, and I ask it to identify what's playing, it sees that it's my other device playing and just tells me the metadata from it, which is usually just the radio station name and nothing about the song!
What device do you have? Because I am able to see the song when I hit search on my pixel 6. Also I never experienced Google not being able to tell me the name of the song if it's the one playing it, but it might be different for radio stations I guess.
@@micahjohnson9184 its an issue on Google smart speakers, they can't identify songs from streaming radio directly. Yes you could pull out your phone and have it listen but why can't it do it on the speaker
@@EoRdE6 ohh thank you! I don't listen to the radio on my nest hub 2, but they should definitely fix that. That's really annoying that the assistant can't do that on the device. Sorry lol re-read your comment 😅 How long has this issue been around?
I think I remember this feature way back when Google made Home Max. I remember the ad, Diplo was singing "Know No Better" and the Assistant recognised it.
Same....! I have been using it for so long now, the thing is they didn't do proper advertisement of the feature causing lot of people to be unaware of it
Using this google feature for over 2 years now. Thanks for sharing with the rest of the world. More music accessibility makes the world a happier place. 😊
The late Sony Ericsson (Sony Mobile now) used to do this in an app called TrackID for it's phones since 2005, even before the "Smartphone era". The app was discontinued in 2017 as Shazam became the main app for Music ID at the time.
No haha it's actually cus apple wouldn't approve of a badly designed app on their app store so they gotta meet apple's standard if they want chrome to be on the app store
Google maps historically is way better and more advanced on iOS than on Android… perhaps they spread their app development on Android too thin on multiple problems but keep a more consistent pace on iOS, where they only need to focus on a handful of apps.
I remember jokingly trying to do this years ago and it just.. working. Like "Hey google what song sounds like do do do doo doo do do do" and having it actually recognize the notes and make the correct suggestion. Wild.
Dude this has been out for quite some time ,it's been the most consistent for me I always use it like ,"Google whats this song "and then I sing it works 98%of the time
If I recall correctly. About 2 years ago, Kid Cudi made an ad with Google on this feature. He hummed one of his songs, I can't remember if it's Day n Night or Memories
new? It's been there for years. I mean, every time I click on the microphone for asking something by voice on the bottom of the screen there's a button asking «Search a song» Edit: I've got a 24% mumbling Eleanor Rigby.
I really dont understand why google should put a better animation on ios than for their selves. They pay money to apple to provide their services on the concurrent it makes litterally no sense to me
I have known this for a while now. Was casually humming a song and saw my phone lit up & it was google assistant showing me a possible match for the song I was singing. A very cool feature they have there
I used to love this one song that just has ethereal vibes. And I grew out of it but I recently hummed it after years and have been desperately trying to find it by typing various version of the name of the song and the artist used shazam and every other song finders but nothing worked so I just accepted it but your video just popped up randomly and google found it for me. It was truly a spiritual ascending experience. Thank you.
This is actually pretty old, but glad you're aware of it. You can also say Lumos and Knox to turn your phone's flashlight on and off. You're also able to wipe your hand across the screen to take a screenshot.
Well see some of the stuff you named are phone features. Not google assistant features. Google assistant works on iPhones. That hand wipe for screen shots doesn’t
Or you can use Samsung Registar to turn on flashlight by tapping your phone or navstar or again registar to take screenshot by navigation button or tapping the back of the phone
@@toptiertech7291 nope but Registar or Navstar in gooflock takes a screenshot button tapping the back of the phone or hitting the screenshot button!!! CRAPPLE sucks
The most important thing is the melody. You can try humming, playing a flute, or even just sing with a completely wrong lyrics. As long as the melody is correct then Google will detect it.
Another cool feature is with the alarms. When the alarm goes instead of fumbling to find your phone you can just say snooze or stop and the alarm will respond accordingly, which I've found myself using quite frequently
I used this feature to learn about half the songs I like by name. Sometimes I don't have time or the ability to Shazam songs so being able to go back and check that song I heard is great.
The search a song feature on the iPhone apparently has been removed. Unsure if it’s the same for android but it seems like they ( google ) never updated it to the new IOS app. You can do a regular voice search for info, but the “search a song” has been gone for a long time now ( on IOS so far )
Thanks for sharing this! I've had the tune from "Vertigo" by U2 knocking around in my head for months, but I didn't know the name, or it turns out any of the words. Google figured it out after I whistled it on the second try. 😂
It's in the startup instructions if you don't skip everything after buying a new phone. Everyone skips everything to rush into social media and RU-vid.
How could you possibly not know?? Google sent out a MASSIVE ad campaign all about this damn feature lmao i remember being inundated with it for months. Though, I get all the google ads. Im not sure if they send those ads out to everybody or not
It’s not exclusive to Google Assistant too, if you go to the Google app (not chrome), and click on the voice input icon, you have a button at the bottom “search song” and it’s the same, you can hum, sing and etc
Google has had this for so long lol I’m really surprised he did not know about this one. I could not even count how often I use this feature just being able to identify a song from humming it lol. And that is just another reason why I don’t use my iPhone outside of the office just because Google makes everything easier.
This along with most cool features on assistant are broken half the time. Most of the time on assistant for iOS. Failed outright. Not using siri… can’t wait to get back over to android!!
As soon as you click the Google Assistant button and you see the mic pop up there's a single option below it saying to search for music. Super easy and convenient
I have been using this for the last year and it's absolutely mind-blowingly accurate. It's literally the only function of Google assistant that I regularly use
The "now playing" feature is one of my favorite features in Pixels. Ignoring the whole phone always listening privacy thing, which is a problem - it's unobtrusive in terms of usability. Any time something is playing around me I only need to have a look at the phone to know what it is. Only issue is sometimes it just doesn't come up, since it probably struggles to identify a song.
