It has been nearly a week since our Kate Garraway sadly announced the passing of her husband Derek. Today Ben Shephard passes on her thanks to everyone for all of their kind words following her husband's death.

Kate is the strongest person I know her force over the last 4 years proves that. She kept it real all the time, grief is something I know first hand having lost my husband 8 years ago. I am sending love to Kate and her family x

Meeting her no but I know first hand dealing with loss. The fact of what she’s done over the last 3 years shows that. Not only fighting for Derek but putting light on carers as well .

It's sad for anyone who has lost loved ones my friend lost her husband @ christmas after years of looking after him she didn't have the carers like Kate had she didn't have time to write a book & make a documentry

My deepest sympathies are with Kate and the kids. I know what you are feeling right now, I lost my 27yr old son, 2yrs later My wonderful husband.that was 11yrs and 9yrs ago,I still when I wake up, have to remember that they have gone, One thing I can say, we only remember Sunny days,and these are our memories nobody can ever take them away. Sleep peacefully Derek ❤

Derek draper suffered very badly from COVID and came out bad and never did recover. and just like Derek there was many, many other people who took the toll of COVID pain and illness and died from that dreadful mess. So to all families who have lost a love one from COVID God bless you all and much❤

I know Kate was in a great position to look after her husband but she has still had to go through a horrible period in life. Love you Kate and thinking of you during this horrible time. ❤
