A Jewel of Romanesque Art in Savoie, French Alps!

🇬🇧 Bonjour! Join us for a glimpse of the St Martin Basilica, a jewel of Romanesque architecture, in Aime-la-Plagne market in Tarentaise.
The sanctuary was built in the 11th century in Lombard Romanesque style.
It features a massive bell tower.
Inside the church are Byzantine-style frescoes from the 12th century.
In the 19th century, excavations were led in the crypt.
They revealed the remains of a Roman basilica from the second century AD and a primitive church from the 7th century.
The Aime Basilica was a priory church belonging to the Saint-Michel-de-la-Cluse in the Susa Valley in present-day Italy.
