"Monday's child is fair of face; Tuesday's child is full of grace..." Perhaps you remember a nursery rhyme like this from your childhood? Why would the day, date, or hour of one's birth have anything to do with their fate?
You pass the bar exam and call your grandmother to share the good news. "Mazal tov!" She shouts. What is mazal, anyway?
You are due to argue a case in court in late February. Your rabbi says, "The Jewish month of Adar? That's a lucky time for us."
Join Rabbi Pinchas Taylor as we discover the significance of each day of the week, how the spiritual energy of every Jewish month is exemplified by its astrological constellation, and the real story behind the Friday night song, Shalom Aleichem.
This is part 2 of a three part series on astrology.

Are you saying the Torah is a metaphor and representation of the astros?
@Historian212

No way, he's a Chasidic rabbi. He's saying the reverse: that astrology represents influences that come from God, and the Torah helps us live in harmony with those influences.

I discovered the coolest thing! since every 19 years the solar and lunar birthdays are on on the same day. If you know a persons date of birth if you calculate what year it would be when they turned 19, then you can find out their moon sign by looking up what sign the moon was in on that day. Its really helpful if you don't know a persons hour because the moon changes signs every 2 (ish) days roughly, so if a persons born at night than that could be a different sign than it would if they were born during the day. Iv'e tried it on many people. Obviously Mars, Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, etc, aren't a problem to find out the sign one has their planet in because they move much slower. Do you have any lectures on the North and South Nodes? I'm about to enter my Saturn return December-17 when Saturn returns to Aquarius. I'm dreading it lol. I was also wondering if Jewish astrology like western considers Venus the lesser benefic and Saturn the greater malefic? as oppose to just mars and Jupiter being the malefic/benefic planets?

3:20 if it's a Friday night prayer to protect ourselves from the bad influences of Mars, then why not do the prayer on Tuesday? I thought Tuesday (Martes in spanish)was ruled by Mars (Martes in Spanish) and Saturday (Sabbath or Sabado in Spanish) was ruled by Saturn? 🤔

Of course, we don't have to believe that this knowledge originated with the Jewish people. Especially given that the names of the months are Babylonian, not originally Hebrew. Mesopotamian astrology was old by the time of Abraham, and it's most likely -- since that's where he came from -- that this lore originated there. How the children of Abraham adapted the lore later on is one thing; but originating it is quite another. We know that the Greeks and Egyptians had their forms of astrology, and that there was an exchange of methods and symbolism in the Hellenistic era. It's most likely that the Jews, being situated at the crossroads of these great empires -- Babylonian (later Persian), Greek (or Greco-Roman, later), and Egyptian -- absorbed and adapted these for their particular use. Planetary tables have been found at Qumran that are very similar to those being used by Greek astrologers/astronomers (they did know the difference, btw) at the time. It doesn't matter, it's just important to refrain from making claims that run contrary to what the hard evidence shows.

Hu? the names of the months in the Hebrew calendar are Hebrew not Babylonian. You could believe whatever you want? but you sound like you came here to just discredit which is sad and unfortunate. I'm glad your a historian but your also making false claims Taaleh Shor Tiumim, do those sound Babylonian? I think not. if your saying the western names for the signs are Greek then cool but that is completely irrelevant and nobody said otherwise? Western astrology and Kabbalistic astrology are two totally different schools and knowledge bases. Then their is Vedic which is Indian and sidereal. I mean ya this comment was totally not relative or even relevant because your misunderstanding the point. Nobody cares what you call the signs. Vedic astrology has different names as well. if what your trying to say is that we took the names and changed them to Hebrew then were is your evidence to back up that claim you said you had hard evidence? is it some link you found that is anti sematic that tries to discredit all Jewish knowledge? because there are many places to go for that and there is zero proof that we took it from them as Jews we have never been that way taking stuff from other cultures and making systems out of them?? we are told not to act like the people of Egypt why then if we took it would it be written in Seifer Yetzirah? Also throughout history we have been the ones having our religion copied and changed or added to or distorted not the other way around. I am not trying to be rude here but this is not a faire thing to say without evidence because your saying the Rabbi said something untrue.
