Border View Farms is a mid-sized family farm that sits on the Ohio-Michigan border. My name is Nathan. I make and edit all of the videos posted here. I farm with my dad, Mark and uncle, Phil. Our part-time employee, Brock, also helps with the filming. 1980 was our first year in Waldron where our main farm is now. Since then we have grown the operation from just a couple hundred acres to over 3,000. Watch my 500th video for a history of our farm I filmed with my dad.
I started making these videos in the fall of 2019 as a way to help show what I do on a daily basis as a farmer. Agriculture is different from any other industry and I believe the more people that are showing their small piece of agriculture, helps to build our story. We face unique challenges and stressful situations but have some of the most rewarding payoffs in the end. I get to spend everyday doing what I love, raising my kids on the farm, and trying to push our farm to be better every year. I hope that I can address questions or concerns that you might have about farms and agriculture.
I hope you enjoy my content and ask questions as you have them. I do my best to answer anything I can. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate you subscribing to my channel and liking my videos. You can also find me on Facebook borderviewfarms and on Instagram @borderviewfarms

Thank you for that trip down memory lane…. I was 10 years old and in 1991 the very first tractor I ever drove was a 1971 4020… man I spent a lot of hours on it tedding hay, raking hay, hauling badger tandem axle forage wagons. Great video.

4020 and 4440 probably the two best tractors JD ever built. Take them both to the tractor show. Your tractors in their work cloths look better than most show tractors.

Hope you bring your 4020 up to Waldron. Be nice to get the boys involved. You have a tractor for both right now. The 4440 is getting old enough. They both have great family history and hopefully next year you will have the old dog done. Then have your dad build a showroom on the front of your barn for the three. TAKE CARE NATHAN !!!

I've heard that you may have an in with a rival seed company that is more open to sponsorships?? Maybe at least trial a few P-C-Ds? Did I mention that you have the most comprehensive, timely, informative content? Your family is the frosting on the cake!

Good on Kondex. I still highly recommend working with a consultant to grow your channel. There is no difference in that than with an agronomist. Your channel has improved a LOT. It is good. There has to be a reason (I am not an expert) as to why that you don’t have the viewers of say LF or the MF. There are experts on this stuff. I really hope you work with one. I think it is safe to say all of us would love to see your channel grow.

In reference to the iron content of the water from the irrigation well. I am a 28 year, high school science teacher. Highly charged (+2 or +3) metal ions are acidic when dissolved in water (aqueous). The rust on the well casing indicates you have highly charged iron ions in the water. If you have a soil analysis completed on the irritated field, it would be interesting to compare the pH to past data from the field after you grew corn. If the iron has the effect theory states, your soil pH may be lower than in previous years.
@BorderViewFarms
@BorderViewFarms 27 дней назад
I doubt we've added enough water to significantly alter the soil pH. The Anhydrous Ammonia would have a bigger/quicker effect. Also, this field received 2 tons of chicken litter last fall that is high in calcium and gets lime applied as necessary.
@coreybrueckner4032
@coreybrueckner4032 27 дней назад
@@BorderViewFarms You are absolutely right that everything you listed would drive the pH up, and do so in a way that would neutralize the acidic nature of the iron ions by factors of multiple tens. The thesis isn’t will it make the soil acidic, it is will the pH be lower when compared to past data? Any analysis you do will be interesting to see if the new water source causes nutrient availability to be any different. Just spitballing an idea, but doing side by side comparisons of the soil in the middle of the rows that have water applied to them versus the rows that do not could prove interesting. The RAIN system offers a unique situation with a very regimented application of a new variable (well water) to 60%-70% of the soil structure, with the remaining soil seeing little to no irrigation water. I am assuming the RAIN follows the same path each time and does not offset by a row with multiple passes,

Nathan, back in the day before metric measure, we used Imperial measurement to gauge how much rain had fallen. 100 Points = 1 inch. so 1inch plus 6 10th would be 160 points.John from Australia.

Howdy Nathan, I hope ya'll are doing well, No, I don't think your asking to much from companies your clearly promoting on your channel, and the fact that people are saying they saw it on your channel, that would otherwise not know anything about, so no Nathan, your not asking to much, keep up the great work, Stay safe, God Bless and Farm on my Friends Edit: I love your 4020 JD it is in great shape !!
