Very nice boards. Great tip on using plywood for guide for juice groove. No need for fancy jigs or attachments on router. Thank you!

Hi everyone, after using the round over bit in the router I used the orbital sander with 150 grit paper to sand the boards before finishing. Thanks for watching, Jon

No planing, straight to sanding! That's impressive. Love the colours in cutting boards, Jon!

I’ve always wanted to make a cutting board and didn’t know I could do it without a planar! Thank you.

I’m new to your channel and have to say this is probably the best video I’ve seen on making boards. Very well explained. 🇮🇪

The patterns looked SO GOOD! I’ve seen a lot of boards made from scraps that don’t seem to have much symmetry and not particularly easy on the eyes. Great builds, as always, Jon! I wish you were able to put out a new video every single day! They’re entertaining, informative, and downright fun to watch! 👍👍

Thank you so much for this. I had no idea about the cauls. I’ve made a lot of cutting boards now, but never thought of that. Would not have to rely on the surface planer as much then. Always great coming to see your videos.

A second, light pass with the router would remove most of the burn marks. I dreaded sanding juice grooves until I found that those 3M finishing (black) scouring pads do a pretty good job of smoothing across the grain without leaving any scratch marks. A soft wire brush for the drill or Dremel works too.

Very, very, cool Jon. I'm sure the boys will cherish those boards for a long time. The square jig for the router was pretty neat. Hoping all is well Bud, Dirty Jersey out!!

Did you spray lightly with water to pop the grain before final sand?

Great video, that board looks awesome. Not sure why its called a juice groove, as the across the grain section would technically speaking be a dado. Semantics i know, i guess its just simplifying it.

How far in from the edge of the cutting board do you do the juice groove and how wide & deep is the juice groove? Also curious as to what you could sell these for 🤔

You only showed sanding with the 80 grit on the belt sander. Did you go to a finer grit with a different sander or was the 80 grit enough?

yes I used the orbital sander with 150 grit paper to sand the boards before finishing.

A home made router jig would work a lot better in these cases, closer to the edge and wont' leave a weird gap in the corners.

Cutting boards look great! If you are a beginning woodworker I would not recommend using the double-sided tape routing method and instead use exterior perimeter boards to route the juice groove out with.
