This is a such an enjoyable video. His delivery as a true enthusiast without pretentiousness drew me in and I appreciated the specific aspects that he admired about each watch. Good stuff.
This gentleman really knows watches. Listening to him talk about them it was clear he isn't just someone who collects but someone who really knows his stuff. I mean, its a bit Rolex heavy for my taste, but even so, each piece is a homerun and every piece seems to have a purpose.
It’s nice to see a collector that is obviously passionate about the watches he has, despite them being “statement” pieces (and he seems like a very nice guy). Also loving the vlog format that shows behind the scenes - more of that please!
Ahhh, I LOOOOVE that octa lune! I have such a thing for Journes. Fantastic video guys! This is my favourite watch video I've seen in a long time! Thank you for this. X
Don't hate this guy, sounds like a genuine watch enthusiast. But yawn... do you really need 2 sub and 2 daytona? Seems like a collection build around value rentention which is nothing wrong but just... Boring
Enjoy this series a lot guys. Additionally, you two work well really together. Its fun to watch. Helpful hint to Michael of the future; When you say Longines, this s at the end isn't pronounced.
@@Mister_Phafanapolis no its not. And even though its Swiss made, the name is French, not Swiss. Because its based in the French speaking region of Switzerland, Saint Imier.
Great collection. Several grail pieces! If you skip through the rolex content, totally worthwhile watching. Also, for a fellow New Yorker, it's great to see a guy with resources riding our subway.
This channel is the reason I don’t start a Watch RU-vid channel. So much work goes into these well produced vids and still such relatively low subs. Depending on the goal, hardly seems worth it from a business standpoint.
IMO you’re 100p right. Unless you’re monetizing heavily through a retail shop or using your platform to produce highly creative content in partnership with brands, it’s a bust business model. We do both so it’s all worth it. Of course how we all weigh ROI is very subjective - working in a space you love is great, the freedom is too. Very little stress (comparably) and strong community ties. I see why people would rather make ‘eh’ money on RU-vid than the same money in the corporate world.
I didn't listen or watch this video yet, I've just skimmed thru. But I've gotta say; after watching many many watch review/unboxing/appreciation/explanation videos, it's a wonder to me that people don't seem to appreciate brands like F.P. Journe more. Their watches are so unique and striking, it is shocking to me that there's just not more fawning over them. To be fair, I am not apart of any elite watch collecting circles (or any circles at all, for that matter) but I do a whole lot of browsing message boards, youtube vids, and various seller sites looking for and learning about watches and there are a few that stand out more than others. But I'm always so impressed when I start seeing just how gorgeous lesser known brands seem to be, and they're often high quality in their movements and materials/construction as well. I'm not sure what I'm sayin here, other than F.P. Journe watches look damn good and I wanna see them more. Everywhere. Lol.
Very nice collection add the literal risk of coming forward and revealing one’s collection and identity….be careful out there! Great collection and video.
Hi great video as usual... I'm wondering what do you think about the new Frederique Constant Classics Index Automatic? The desing, quality and value for the price... Would you consider perhaps making a review about it?
Actually been eyeing a Panerai chronograph a fellow New Yorker here Bronx Ny. It be awesome if Rolex did a Recreation of Paul Newman s Daytona maual wind movement and no screw down pushers like the first Daytona
Fazal, thanks for sharing your collection. It is a quite personal exhibition and so much appreciated. Adored that AP, FPJ (nicely done with the 40mm choice), and your first Sub. Superb! Christian, love these shows. Keep the collector collections coming. Thanks. BTW, you may need a hybrid car now. ; )
0:36 Long Jeans, I’m not aware of that company 🤣 You guys are killing me with your pronunciation of French brands. But I guess we do the same with Nike :) But it’s really strange that Nike workers also say it the wrong way here 🤣 Nice episode guys!
I wonder if Christian gets permission beforehand or just tries on people's watches and they're too intimidated by mister four-inch wrists to say anything.
ONe of the best collections I have seen on your show and will rival many from Hodinkee. Cartier was killer! Great work Guys. Just to add something very important: In life, we all need a balance, Ying and Yang; Men should have watches with slight femininity, we need too feel that elegance and softness that art can bring. The Fp Journe and Cartier do exactly that. We cannot always have rolex subs and brash tool watches or brash watches as a whole. This is classy and this guys collection will feed his soul.
I would completely follow that guy if he had a watch channel. Knows his stuff. Has an INSANE collection but did not come off as a flexer in the least bit. Seems like a genuine, good dude who loves watches. Well done all around.
This channel makes me hella happy. I wish I was still currently in Manhattan. Christian would totes be my BFF. Horological studies got me jetzt verklempt. #swissmade. It’s like reading a book. The mathematics of it all.
To the Gentleman with the collection, please do not pick up this habit of pairing down, only if it is necessary. I do not think you should confine yourself to numbers but as Curtis Mcdowald on hodinkee stated; Fencing and watch collecting are both similar in the sense that they need patience. As far as you take your time and pick appropriately, a number should not dictate your collection
Wow! Ok this collection is ridiculously good. I love that while yes it’s hectic expensive you can tell so much thought went into choosing each piece he is authentically passionate and it’s not just a $ flex. Awesome video. 👍🏼
Great video!! Such a beautiful collection!! Bit surprised there were no old school pams and other watches that he had bought on the way - but if he has sold and traded to keep the collection small enough and as awesome as possible... which it is!! Then FairPlay !!! Cheers all!!!
Ngl, my Starbucks order makes me look like a lil b*tch too… Grande Vanilla latte with 1 sugar and a sprinkle of cinnamon powder… my local Starbucks barista already has my order memorised and tends to have it ready for me before I’m even through the line at the cashier
