The one thing that impresses me about the Bible is that it records everything in a brutally honest fashion. It tells you the good, the bad, the ugly, and the indifferent. I think this basic honesty speaks a lot to its credibility and resonance in the hearts of those who take the time to read it.
@Drspoe
@Drspoe 2 года назад
The Jewish bible doesn't record everything with honesty. The many authors have a clear bias, and events are often exaggerated or made up entirely. Like the Exodus story has no historical or archeological evidence. That isn't to say that the Bible cannot be a historical source. It should be interpreted as a loose description of events in Jewish history, with many embellishments and exaggerations.

Iam a bit bummed she glazes over just what constitutes good behavior in a king. I think that is seriously laking these days and would be quite instructional! She said it from a third person, unbelieving point of view, with scarcasim, I didnt appreciate that! That shouldve been the focus at that point in the story. Instead she made fun of our God! Did it in a couple other places as well! I would love to see the look on this womans face when a real miracle happens in fromt of her! But Then the coup de grasse, she cursed us all when saying thrse people forget what good has happened, and THEY go back to their old ways, as if its a GIVEN! Many Peoples lives changed that day forever iam sure, Weather this knuckle head of a woman thinks so or not! Shes awfully cavalier with our God to wanna watch her ever again. I could only imagine the horrors of her next installment! Is this woman even jewish? At yehodee? I take our GOD And his prophets At their words. She kept saying " the Israeli God!" As if it wasnt hers! It seems that If she was jewish she'd of just said GOD ! Sarcastic unbelievers giving a synopsis of our HISTORY? I wanted to like the format, but the dissrepect was too much!! In My opinion! Am i still allowed that?

Where are you getting the year numbers from? Almost everywhere I've seen dates the fall of Judah to either 587 or 586 BCE, never seen 422 BCE. Also you dated Rehoboam's reign to 796 BCE which would put him well after Omri, whose reign you dated at 884 BCE.

I watched Jodi Magness cover this same topic. I enjoyed both hers and your videos. I do have a question. Is it true that the Jews of the Northern kingdom actually participated in idolatry (Ba'al), or as some have suggested, they tolerated idolatry in the land in order to show compassion to the non-Jews already living in those lands? This question comes up here and there, so I'd like to read your take on it.

The cutting and the wailing was how they worshipped their deity...this is why in Isaiah 52:5, it says, "Now therefore, what have I here, saith the LORD, that my people is taken away for nought? they that rule over them make them to howl, saith the LORD; and my name continually every day is blasphemed." The howling is in reference to their forced worship of Ba'al.

Hebrews should be the term used for the United Kingdom of Israel. Jews are not called Jews until after the split of the Northern Kingdom of the House of Ephrayim and the House of Judah. The house of Judah are the Jews, words mean things and can confuse people. The Hebrews under the leadership of Moses and all the way to the era of the United Israeli Kingdom were Israelites not referred to as Jews. Words matter.

That "quote" is as spurious as it is asinine. "Clifford claims that Ben-Gurion wrote: "If I were an Arab leader I would never make terms with Israel. That it natural, we have taken their country." In fact, according to Nahum Goldmann, Ben-Gurion allegedly said this to him. Goldmann was an adversary of Ben-Gurion, and he came out with this alleged quote, verbatim, in his book published two decades later (The Jewish Paradox, 1978), five years after Ben-Gurion died. There was no recording of the quote, and Ben-Gurion was no longer around to dispute it." blog.camera.org/archives/2012/08/distorted_quotes_to_defend_dis.html

*Headed for Exile?* It has been more than two months since the general election in Israel took place. Although the results showed a clear winner, and no one disputes the integrity of the election process, the tensions in Israeli society seem to be growing all the time. There is talk of civil disobedience, apprehension of politicians who incite against the government, and repetitive mentioning of the words “civil war.” A well-known journalist even said that nothing will change until a lot of metaphoric, and even real blood is spilt. As has happened many times before, the people of Israel’s worst, if not only enemy is internal division, internal hatred. No ruler has ever vanquished us unless we first annihilated one another. We are at a crossroads once again, and once again, we seem to be choosing the path of pain. The fact that we all know our history and what has been our bane throughout the ages, makes no difference. No argument or reasoning will convince us to make concessions, or even negotiate with our dissenters. Our attitude has always been totalitarian: Either our rivals accept that we are right and relinquish all their claims, or we fight them to the death. Politicians who expressed one opinion only a few years ago, now express the complete opposite opinion only because their position has changed from being in the government to being in the opposition, or the other way around. Every issue-from Israel’s judicial system through its economy to its security and defense-is subject to political position. Considerations of the best interest of the country simply do not exist anymore. Even if the country falls to pieces, “leaders” will not give up until they are king of the hill, even if the hill is a heap of smoldering ashes. When the only considerations are what serves my ego, of course it is impossible to let anyone rule but me. If I am not the prime minister, I will interrupt and interfere in any way I can. This is the prevailing mindset. I remember that years ago, I was slightly involved in the Israeli political system, but for years now I have refrained from any involvement. The only result of political meddling is that it puts the country at risk, and I want no part in it. Our enemies rejoice at the sight of our internal hatred. Like the Romans did two thousand years ago, they will use our inner fragmentation and drive us out of here. As has happened so many times before, we will, God forbid, be exiled. Throughout our history, our people have been exiled, slaughtered, burned, and tortured to death. All these torments came to us for our inner hatred. Nevertheless, we have refused to accept that our only road to happiness and peace is the road of loving one another. Even though our nation conceived the ideas of love of others, charity, and mutual responsibility, we have always shunned these notions. Instead, we agreed to love only those who thought like we did and lived like we did. We have set an example of both mercy and cruelty, but in our annals, the latter has always ultimately won. King Solomon said, “Hate stirs up strife, and love will cover all crimes” (Prov. 10:12). We are great at carrying out the first part of the verse, but we are awful at following its latter part. We cannot hope to agree with one another; this will never happen. Our only hope is to learn that despite our disagreements, we are one nation. Unless we understand that just as brothers do not murder one another simply because they disagree, neither must we. Otherwise, we are headed for death and exile.

It's the Catholism that falls on the idolatory side as they legit worship some statues. Pray to mary and saints etc which should not be done.... They confess their sins to their church preist and he forgives them in the name of Jesus... Like who is he to forgive sins.... Only God can forgive sins! It is the strong presence of God that u feel when you come into the truth of Jesus and never want to deviate from it. We don't pray to the statues or the cross but pray in the spirit. Jesus isn't dead, he rose again and that's why 1st century christians and disciples spread the word of God knowing that they would be persecuted. Why would they go to such great lengths to spread the gospel if it was false?

It was only after the KingdomS of Israel and Judea were divided that they was eventually conquered. The people who conquered them also conquered Palestine-Philistia. Palentine has not been a united, independent COUNTRY since then.

@@shainazion4073 There were lots of countries that never were until they were created. Like our country and Canada. There are also many countries that used to be but aren't now like Judea. I agree that Pphillista is not Palestine. And Judea is not Israel. And the United States is not the American Colonies, and Italy is not Rome and that Germany is not Prussia.

It was the Hebrews that became Israel not the Jewish people the Jewish people did not exist until later in time and they were composed mostly only of the tribe of Judah after the separation of Israel into the ten tribes and the two tribes which occurred after King Solomon's reign

Although the information presented aligns with the standard narrative, the exaggerated acting on this channel detracts from the content and is cringe. Perhaps the intention is to make it more engaging, but in my opinion, it's not effective.

Good job with this video, the history was on point! However, I gotta say this.......ma'am, YOU'VE GOT TO WORK ON THOSE PRONOUCIATIONS! i hate to be that guy, but you butchered almost every name from the bible. Overall, good job! thanks

We for the most part are using the original Hebrew pronunciations, which is how Jews say the names.

I figured she was probably using the original pronunciations as a scholar would know. It was a little off putting though having gotten my Bible from sitting under Christian pastors for years.

0:58 Yeah this is what the problem is. The map is misleading. 1.Naphtali (Uzbekistan,Turkmenistan) 2.Asher (Turkey,Georgia Azerbaijan) 3.Zebulun ( Syria,Iraq) 4. Issachar (Iran,Pakistan) 5.Gad (Half of Saudi Arabia North) 6.Simeon (Afghanistan ) 7.Benjamin (Qatar to Oman,and Yemen) 8.Dan The lands near the water to the north Where their old stomping grounds where to The Persian Gulf. 9.Judah Israel half of the south west of Saudi Arabia which includes Mecca.Down into half of Ethiopia around and above South Sudan. an Strait West.Until you touch the waters of Cameroon An all of above. That is Judah`s territory.) However 10.Levi (In between Libya and Algeria is the land of Levi hard to to give a proper description) 11.Joseph (where the waters touch Persian Gulf Down in to Saudi Arabia) Hard to describe. An 12.Ruben (half Sudan,Chad)
@michaelweiske702
@michaelweiske702 3 года назад
Do you mean to say that the map shows the incorrect sizes of the territories? As in, you're saying the tribe of, say, Gad should be in modern Afghanistan and not in the levant?

"Elijah" watching countless infant boys have their genitals forcibly mutilated, often leading to severe infection death as is the case today, is "not a bad gig" according to the host. Perhaps, she will submit to having her own genitals mutilated in a similar fashion so as to prove that it really is not "a bad gig".....for the one watching, at least.
