I made this video based on many viewer requests, I do love reading all your thoughts suggestions and have incorporated many into my videos

The age of Judges does not have written sources outside of the Biblical account...But there is plenty of evidence for kings such as Ahab 871-852 BC and the divided kingdom period written from Assyrian accounts etc...but it would make sense a state of Israel and Judah did not just appear in the 9th century BC...At this point, there is not a continuous record going back to the 14th-15th centuries BC but I think given the bronze age collapse, it makes perfect logical sense that the power vacuum would be filled...just as the Phoenician city-states filled the power vacuum in the north Levant. I think the narrative from Chronicles, kings, Judges makes sense until proven otherwise...(ie written accounts from that time and place)...So far Assyrian accounts etc jive with that narrative.

Modern day Christianity has basically done away with this through the belief that it stopped happening after the apostles died, but they were so wrong.

@@joshuapinkham They referred to the first five books as the Pentateuch, with the first book being called Genesis (the beginning). It wouldn't make sense to call 5 different books with differing genres the same name.

@Gary Allen When I was as child I played on the mounds in cahokia park and always felt strange as if I knew this was sacred ground. I'm glad they have closed it off and is a historical site now. My great grandmother is a Mississippi Chatah(english name Choctaw) and I was fascinated by the fact they had people on a reservation in walking distance from my grandparents home. People from that era say we were here before the ships and I believe them over the lying writers of our history. There's a direct correlation with Haran, Morocco. Bolivia and north America

Before the establishment of Israel the Canaanites already lived there. The Israelis had to get rid of them first. So they dehumanised them (Sounds familiar) and said they worshipped false Idols such as "El", which is strange as "Israel" is derived from worship for the God El "Isra El". This, plus the lack of evidence of an exodus out of Egypt and zero Egyptian influence on their pottery and homes etc leads archeologists to think the Israelis were just Canaanites. And there is quite a lot of evidence to support this, as the first Israeli settlements resemble Canaanite structures and their pottery also resembled that of the Canaanites..

Unfortunately, not real history - just the Bible account. It's been significantly corrected through archeology

It doesn’t need to be explained for those who have actually read the Bible. He did lose favor with Saul because Sauls throne was promised to David and the people loved David. So Saul was jealous and tried to kill David (Sauls son in law) multiple times. To state that plainly would make this a lot longer than 5 minutes. We should listen to this video and then fill in the gaps ourselves with research.

The Book of 1 Samuel also states that David is unwilling to fight Saul because Saul has God's anointing, and so didn't want to harm him. Saul still wanted to harm David, so David fled until Saul was killed I'm battle against the Philistines.

I.E My India and Spain videos showed people had interest so I did further videos on those regions. If this video does well I may do a video concerning just the period of Judges, Divided kingdom period or just on the Hasmonean dynasty. My China video did well so I got a more focused video on a part of that history coming up. I am just one guy making these videos with close to zero funding and limited expendable time so I don't want to spend 20+ hours making a video and no one watch it

Luis Luis, to answer your question, look no further than several archaeological finds for proof (if you don't want to accept the Torah as your answer). First, The 'Silver Scroll': dated to around 700 BCE, is a silver scroll that has the priestly blessing scrawled on it. the dating proves several things. A) that The Jews were in the Land of Israel/Canaan prior to 586 BCE (the date of when Babylonians razed Solomon's Temple to the ground, and took the Jewish elites into captivity, effectively ending the 'first' state of Judea) and B) That Paleo-Hebrew goes back to at LEAST 700 BCE, if not well before then. Second, Hezekiah's Tunnel Tablet inscription; prior to Judea being taken over by the Babylonians, the Assyrian king attempted to conquer Judea. Having knowledge of the Assyrian King's intentions, King Hezekiah, expanded the walls around Jerusalem and fortefied the water access to the Gihon Spings (the only water source in Jerusalem). In order to do this, he had to have a HUGE tunnel built from two different sides so that they would connect the spring (outside the city walls) to the inside of the old city. When this feat was accomplished, he had an inscription scrawled inside the tunnel to forever document the occassion. That inscription was found by the british archaeologist Sir Charles Warren. Lastly, there is an old Assyrian Tablet describing/pictograph where King Jehu of Israel (approx. 800 BCE) paying homage and 'submitting' to the King of Assyria SHELMANASAR, this is just prior to Assyrian conquest of the northern kingdom of Israel. There is AMPLE proof that this area is the native home of the Israelites/Jews and there is written, archaeologic and historic proof of this inside the land as well as the surrounding areas. All one has to do is search with an open mind and forget ones prejudice.

The Bible is not a historical text. The stories prior to Josiah and the Babylonian Exile are not supported by archeological records and accepted evidence-based narratives. Christian theology does not have a problem with this.

@@simonromijn3655 I am not sure what your point is. I fully understand that the Bible is a religious text. I also fully understand that religious texts, especially in this part of the world, were designed to interpret historical events and explain human leaders' actions in the most positive light. As such, I see the Bible in the same light as the religious texts from Egypt and Mesopotamia, albeit from an oral tradition. Basically I am saying that I would no more accept or dismiss everything in it than I would accept or dismiss everything said by the major political powers of the day.

They worship God the Eternal Father in the name of Jesus Christ. The most oft-used reasons are the following: Latter-day Saints do not accept the creeds, confessions, and formulations of post-New Testament Christianity. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not descend through the historical line of traditional Christianity. That is, Latter-day Saints are not Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, or Protestant. Latter-day Saints do not believe scripture consists of the Holy Bible alone but have an expanded canon of scripture that includes the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. Each of these is examined below. Latter-day Saints Do Not Accept the Creeds of Post-New Testament Christianity Scholars have long acknowledged that the view of God held by the earliest Christians changed dramatically over the course of centuries. Early Christian views of God were more personal, more anthropomorphic, and less abstract than those that emerged later from the creeds written over the next several hundred years. The key ideological shift that began in the second century A.D., after the loss of apostolic authority, resulted from a conceptual merger of Christian doctrine with Greek philosophy. Latter-day Saints believe the melding of early Christian theology with Greek philosophy was a grave error. Chief among the doctrines lost in this process was the nature of the Godhead. The true nature of God the Father, His Son, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost was restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith. As a consequence, Latter-day Saints hold that God the Father is an embodied being, a belief consistent with the attributes ascribed to God by many early Christians. This Latter-day Saint belief differs from the post-New Testament creeds. Whatever the doctrinal differences that exist between the Latter-day Saints and members of other Christian religions, the roles Latter-day Saints ascribe to members of the Godhead largely correspond with the views of others in the Christian world. Latter-day Saints believe that God is omnipotent, omniscient, and all-loving, and they pray to Him in the name of Jesus Christ. They acknowledge the Father as the ultimate object of their worship, the Son as Lord and Redeemer, and the Holy Spirit as the messenger and revealer of the Father and the Son. In short, Latter-day Saints do not accept the post-New Testament creeds yet rely deeply on each member of the Godhead in their daily religious devotion and worship, as did the early Christians. Latter-day Saints Believe in a Restored Christianity Another premise used in arguing that Latter-day Saints are not Christians is that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not descend from the traditional line of today’s Christian churches: Latter-day Saints are not Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, or Protestant. As many scholars have acknowledged, however, Christians have vigorously disagreed about virtually every issue of theology and practice through the centuries, leading to the creation of a multitude of Christian denominations. Although the doctrine of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints differs from that of the many creedal Christian churches, it is consistent with early Christianity. One who sincerely loves, worships, and follows Christ should be free to claim his or her understanding of the doctrine according to the dictates of his or her conscience without being branded as non-Christian. Latter-day Saints Believe in an Open Canon A third justification argued to label Latter-day Saints as non-Christian has to do with their belief in an open scriptural canon. For those making this argument, to be a Christian means to assent to the principle of sola scriptura, or the self-sufficiency of the Bible. But to claim that the Bible is the sole and final word of God-more specifically, the final written word of God-is to claim more for the Bible than it claims for itself. Nowhere does the Bible proclaim that all revelations from God would be gathered into a single volume to be forever closed and that no further scriptural revelation could be received. Moreover, not all Christian churches are certain that Christianity must be defined by commitment to a closed canon. In truth, the argument for exclusion by closed canon appears to be used selectively to exclude the Latter-day Saints from being called Christian. No branch of Christianity limits itself entirely to the biblical text in making doctrinal decisions and in applying biblical principles. Roman Catholics, for example, turn to church tradition and the magisterium (meaning teachers, including popes and councils) for answers. Protestants, particularly evangelicals, turn to linguists and scripture scholars for their answers, as well as to post-New Testament church councils and creeds. For many Christians, these councils and creeds are every bit as canonical as the Bible itself. To establish doctrine and to understand the biblical text, Latter-day Saints turn to living prophets and to additional books of scripture-the Book of Mormon, Doctrine and Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price. Together with the Old and New Testaments, the Book of Mormon supports an unequivocal testimony of Jesus Christ. One passage says that the Book of Mormon “shall establish the truth” of the Bible “and shall make known to all kindreds, tongues, and people, that the Lamb of God is the Son of the Eternal Father, and the Savior of the world; and that all men must come unto him, or they cannot be saved.” In its more than six thousand verses, the Book of Mormon refers to Jesus Christ almost four thousand times and by over one hundred different names: “Jehovah,” “Immanuel,” “Holy Messiah,” “Lamb of God,” “Redeemer of Israel,” and so on. The Book of Mormon is indeed “Another Testament of Jesus Christ,” as its title page proclaims. Conclusion Converts across the world continue to join The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in part because of its doctrinal and spiritual distinctiveness. That distinctiveness flows from the knowledge restored to this earth, together with the power of the Holy Ghost present in the Church because of restored priesthood authority, keys, ordinances, and the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. The fruits of the restored gospel are evident in the lives of its faithful members. While members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have no desire to compromise the distinctiveness of the restored Church of Jesus Christ, they wish to work together with other Christians-and people of all faiths-to recognize and remedy many of the moral and family issues faced by society. The Christian conversation is richer for what the Latter-day Saints bring to the table. There is no good reason for Christian faiths to ostracize each other when there has never been more urgent need for unity in proclaiming the divinity and teachings of Jesus Christ.
