Weeb's Gaming well it kinda does and doesn't it is about 30 to 40 pounds of gambeson chain mail plate mail on your body so yeah but not to the degree of being near immobile more like slowed down by a bit wmd restricted to the armor
Rokkfel Most of the weight of the entire armor is straped to your waist. That's why it doesn't lower your mobility. Weight doesn't lower your mobility unless your average lifting strength is too weak.
It's mainly just tournament armor that limits mobility. (Example: The Frogmouth helmet, which was a Greathelm used exclusively for tournament jousting, would prevent you from turning your head. It also restricted the wearer's vision to just straight forward. It was designed that way so that Lance strikes would be less fatal.)
It's interesting how knights have become so mythologized in our culture that we no longer even see them as people, just as walking suits of armor. It's also amusing, of course, it's just an interesting instance of very ingrained conflation.

Jacob Hamman full set of plate is only about eighty pounds or so. Full plate is mobile enough to run in- to sit, stand, climb the bullwarks if need be. Never worn a set of good plate, have you?
Gray Blackhelm INFANTRY plate armor weights far less than 80 pounds ( it actually weights 20 - 25 kilos MAX ), thats jousting armor that you're talking about
Am I the only one curious about where he got these armor pieces? The helmet, gauntlets and arm pieces all look like they're from the same set, but everything else looks like a mixed bag.....
If you want to find something similar, there is the Gothic Armour set on Kult of Athena or Medieval Collectibles. Both of them come from Epic Armoury in either case.
@@shockwave6213 Same. I don't belong in one set though nor any era. So I should call myself a mercenary instead of a knight. The Faires are amazing to go to all suited up though!
@@theshadowedking Man At Arms or Mercenary. Either one really. The retainers of a Knight would be just as armored as them in many cases. The only difference is the Knights themselves were land owners and the retainers were waged professional soldiers from the area who would buy their own kit. City Garrisons were the same concept and usually issued a standard of armor as best the town could (or wanted) to pay. Supplemental armor was purchased.
jocoma23 so you’re telling me that you have around $9000 just laying around solely for plate armor (not including arming doublet and such). Are you a cartel boss or something?
So you are saying if im a mexican than can afford a nice Plate armor, he need to be a cartel boss? come on i work, and not in drug shit in fact the "drug lords" area its in north mexico not south mexico

Lu-k T There are several companies. Google is the best place to start. Now, do you want that specific design, or simply just plate? That affects price and availability like you wouldn’t believe. Also, be ready to shell out at least 3,000 dollars.
