Just ordered a Leaf. Have used various razors over the years - Headblade, Defender and a multitude of other cartridge razors. Looking forward to upping my game and giving the Leaf a go. Thanks for the videos!
Long reply.... Firstly, it looks like your spirits are back up from the other day. Good to see. I know that there are a bunch of people who are curious about this razor and a written explanation doesn't always come across clearly. I'll be using this to share for sure. Very well put together! Also, I'm one of the many that have bought one because of your videos and it was a great choice. I shaved off well over a weeks growth the other day and I have ridiculously tough, wirey hair. Granted it took a good 4 passes plus touch ups, which would probably make most traditional shavers cringe. But the fact that you can do multiple ATG passes and STILL finish with absolutely ZERO irritation, is where this razor TRULY shines. 1 pass with a DE, even WTG would always give me irritation. Especially around the nape of the head. I'm really enjoying a combo of a Feather blade in the first slot, followed by DERBY premiums or Perma-Sharp in the other 2. Extra sharp for the initial cut, followed by something much smoother. Cheers man. Keep 'em coming.
Thank you so much Cris.....I’ve been on the fence about getting this razor for my head shaves for quite some time. Great tutorial! I hope you get a cut (no pun intended) of the sales because you deserve it!
Good review Cris!!! My first Leaf razor was the Mercury one, and my wife uses her Silver one. I just recently purchased the Gold one just to change it up. Wife normally just uses her Astra blades, and she's happy. Only issue I had was some plating coating coming off on the head on the Mercury one, and they replaced it, no charge. It really is a phenomenal razor, and terrific company. Thanks for highlighting them!!!! Cheers!!!
Man its customer service of the highest level! I dont know how they make any money lol! I too have some coating coming off the razor, its not bothering me becuase i know if it gets too bad they will look after me. It's not affecting the shave though!
@@AnotherCutAbove mine was right at where the blades were, and was afraid rust would form right in that area, but it didn't affect the shave, but they had a new razor in and out within 8-10 days I believe it was. Their customer service is easily top notch!
I've just received the chrome one and has the same issue with it not lining up and was an awful shave !!!! I've messaged the guys at leaf so I hope they sort something out .
I’ve had my Leaf now for about 6 months and I love it. Right now I’m using Derby blades and find them a bit rough. Thanks for the suggestion to slide the blades down to get perfect alignment, I’ll do that.
Not all blades require this as some fit snug, nut i have noticed a few times that i have had squint blades. Not sure it affects the shave much but worth noting i think!
@@AnotherCutAbove Did you ever try the Big Ben Saloon Half Blades produced by Lord Co. in Egypt? Cheap (100 half blades less than 5$), effective and already half blades 👍👍. Let me know your thoughts!
The best razor I’ve ever used! I have the gold version and it’s amazing, soo beautiful and well made. I have other de razors but don’t use them anymore after using this Leaf razor. This razor gives me the closest, most comfortable shave I’ve ever had. I just can’t say enough great things about this wonderful razor!
Thanks for the demo. I'm wondering how the razor would perform using two blades on the first and last slot for head shaving. If I do get one, I'll play around with it.
After being inspired by your feather head shave, i went the same way myself yesterday with a shavette and might have done better blindfolded. i usually use a 34C on my head, but i have seen a few guys that us the leaf and they all recommend it. It's difficult to tie a turban. T
I have had my Leaf Shave razor (in Rose Gold) now for little over 1 year. It's a great dome shaver. I don't like so much as a face shaver. The only razor blades that always makes my head bleed is the Feather blades. Derby Usta, Derby Premium & Perma-Sharp works like a charm for me. I have ordered a new Leaf, in Black :-)
Sweet, youre the second person thats said they have ordered a different colour! Its a great head shaver for sure and i am in contact with them with regards to maybe pursuing this headshaving thing alonf with a more face friendly shaver!
By the way, here is a little shaving soap tip Dead Sea Shave, from UK (London) www.etsy.com/shop/DeadSeaShave They are very slick soaps, with a very good post shave feel.
Love the idea. I think it's one we've all had at one time or another. But the design needs improvement, or at least handle options. The handle is awful. And I think they designed it long and skinny to offset the very broad head, which is another obvious problem. I appreciate what they're doing but I'll wait for version 2.
Here some additional feedback... Did you ever try the Big Ben Saloon Half Blades produced by Lord Co. in Egypt? Cheap (100 half blades less than 5$), effective and already half blades 👍👍. Let me know your thoughts!
none buddy, i leave the blades in between blade changes. I just rinse with warm water, give it a little flick and the polish the outside of the razor head and handle with a microfibre, then pop back in stand. Zero rust so far.
If I were to use this I’d use like a Wilkinson sword for the first blade. A Gillette nacet for the 2nd Blade And a silver blue for the 3rd blade lol. Wonder if anyone tried something like that?
I did it with 3 different vintage blades. I think i works well is you get them in the right order as i have only recently found out that blades can differ very slightly in dimensions.
Bullshit loading mechanism. Real pain in the ass. IMO its so unsafe and complicated. This razor will not work just for this one reason no matter how well it shaves.
Most likely looks like that when I'm loading it with the mechanism facing the camera so I can't see what I'm doing but I've never had an issue doing it for myself. Loads super easy and not a problem to be fair. But I only know that because I've used it. I too probably thought similarly to yourself prior to trying it. Loading aside its a brilliant razor that gives superb results, especially for my head shaves which I don't enjoy quite as much as a good face shave 😂
@@AnotherCutAbove As an engineer I can tell you this thing is not going to work. Simple 2 or 3 piece razors lose alignment after few years due to wear and tear. All these joints and levers are never going to make it. Buy it as a novelty and to say you owned one. It has too many flaws from design and engineering to be a successful product. Imagine someone has to break 2 blades in half. Then try and load them in the contraception with cutting your fingers before you cut a single hair....
Well I've loaded a lot of blades into mine and haven't cut my fingers yet thankfully. But you could say the same for loading a safety razor which I have cut my finger doing. They are currently working on new models which I can only assume will offer a smarter system. But at the end of the day I'd rather pay for the safety razor blades and get great shaves than spend fortunes on cartridges like Gillette which are full of plastic and other nasties. It's a no brainer for me. Time will tell how it goes in the long run. Thank you for you comments bud. Cheers Cris.
