Hi, love your videos, and my students find them really useful. Just wanted to point out however that many of the pages you refer to in this video are not the pages selected by Eduqas for The Big Issue: The following extracts must be studied: Front cover of magazine Contents Page (p.3) Editor's Letter (p.6) Feature: 'Letter to My Younger Self: Grayson Perry' (p.14-15) Feature: 'Vendor Success Stories: Moving On' (p.32-33, 35) Feature: 'Rise of the Homeless Bakers: No Soggy Bottoms Here!' (p.41) Adverts: At least 3 key adverts of the centre's choosing Feature: 'My Pitch' (p.58)
Thank you so much🙏 love all of your videos there so helpful! Me and my class mates were saying it would be amazing if you were on tik tok as a media teacher I think you would be great 😄
can you make a video on the other core areas for vogue and the big issue. ive only seen this video and a industry video for vogue but can you make videos on industry, audience, representation and media language for both?
Hi, I also have an industry video for The Big Issue on my channel. I’m currently in the process of editing a Representation video about Vogue so that should be up soon. The others are on my list!
Hey Mrs Fisher, I have a question soon on how Vogue and The Big Issue target their audiences, could I use representation within that question, because I'm not really sure what to say about the audience apart from them being left-wing and mainly male. It's a 30 mark question too and I feel like I don't have much to write about it.
You can mention representation and media language in that question in terms of how / why those things might appeal to their audience. Big Issue readers are mostly male, left wing, middle class, people who want social reform and are sympathetic to those in need. Vogue readers are mostly women, age 25+, interested in fashion and beauty, middle to upper class, and teasingly well off, or aspiring to live a more glam lifestyle. Think about how the set pages are designed to draw in those people.
Is there an updated version to this please? I’m studying the big issue but only one page was the same from this video the other set pages are different
I’ve checked the spec and the front cover, contents page, Grayson Perry article, the editors letter page, are all still on the spec. Schools can choose their own 3 adverts to study from the magazine so I picked 3 random ones to look at. I don’t currently have anything about the Vendor Success Stories, Rise Of The Homeless Bakers or the My Pitch pages but I’ll add that to my To Do list.
Hi miss, thank you for the video. Will we have to look into a specific magazine article for the exam or will questions on 'The Big Issue' be an in general type of question.
