Carl's Sim Guides I think it’s great that you do a mix of these videos. I doubt most people have exhausted the gameplay from the objects you featured here so for people who are bored there’s an opportunity to liven things up by trying them out.
I had a Patchy cult for awhile. Schism in the family, one brother worshiped Patchy and focused on gardening and cooking. Other brother worshiped the gnomes and focused on woodworking/crafting. Patchy came to life almost every day and even helped raise the kids.
What we need is traits giving sims unique options with objects. A genius sim should be able to create inventions no other sim can make. An athletic sim should be able to do things no other sim can when they have their fitness skill maxed out. As it is, all sims are exactly the same and lack personality, traits have so little effect that even sims 1 sims varied a lot more in personality with just those 5 sliders. It's a step back.
I agree with this so much. Traits have little to no effect. While they may make certain things somewhat more difficult (not really though), they can always be overcome pretty easily. Wonderful idea here.
Love the idea! Ive only seen this expressed 2 ways (so far) in the game. 1. Childish adult sims can still play with toys and 2. Atletic sims can choose to drink an energy drink whenever!
I've seen this expressed in two traits: jealous and loner. Jealous are the only ones whose emotions depend directly from a love relationship and can complain about sentimental life. Loner Sims won't appear in the street and you need to visit their houses to meet them.
We need people who are in love to cuddle in bed or to automatically sot closer on couches or just have the option to and sim should say hi to eatchother when they pass eachother. So more intimage detailed and nuanced realtionships
didn't know the legend behind the website with literally every sims cheat ever had a youtube channel, not all heroes wear capes. some are called carl and run a youtube channel for sims 4 guides
One thing i want is an overhaul to the inventory system, with tabs and a auto sort button, right now it get's so full up and cluttered it can be a headache to organize.
Yea I feel you here. Inventory can get cluttered fast. This isn't exactly what you're asking for, but you might want to give this new mod (Transfer Inventory) by littlemssam a try. It lets you put many items into a certain storage with just a click.
I play sims on my ps4 sadly no mod support :( So its why i'd want it in a patch, But yeah tabs i'd wanna see just for it be organized more is like skill items and items for careers like freeze gun thing or like guitars etc, consumables like potions meals or drinks, books/songs or lyrics, collectables like ore's postcards relics frogs bugs fish etc, fruit and veg or anything you can plant as its own tab, toys and then have the sort button sort it all from A-Z, by value or type so say the collectables tab all the ores are together and all the fish are together as an example making it easier to find something. Maybe a misc tab for things like wands, brooms, machetes, bug spray or upgrade parts etc.
I wish they would have made the wishing well from garden stuff more compatible with other packs such as Get Famous, so you would be able to wish for fame.
#11 voodoo dolls great way to keep those negative relationships strong. #12 voidcritters - especially with a mod to unlock it for all ages #13 TEnts from outdoor living- the fact you can take them anywhere is great for sims that spend time away from home to not have to leave site #14 ice cream maker for interation #15 Im also going to pick on the popcorn maker because it makes food that can sit on teh counter for days before going bad making a great snack option for large families
Yep. I think voidcritters really should've been in the video but I haven't yet covered them (not a big SP guy). Ice cream (which I have a video on) could've made it in as well... Oh well it was already quite long and we have the comments. Thanks for the fantastic additions.
@@CarlsSimGuides I highly recommend diving into the Voidcritter subculture. I mean come on it encourages kids to dig through the trash and is yet another reason (Parenthood)**Edit this is in kids room stuff *** is a great pick up for people on a budget to get their money's worth out of their purchases.
You can sort of do this already with Get Together clubs. Make a group that like to perform instruments and then play in public and people will come up and tip you.
Chantoi Davis This was an option in the Sims 3 that was just...exactly what your teenage sons needed to do in the garage!! Miss it soooo much in the Sims 4!
You kind of undersold the hamster. They can help you find postcards for a sim that's collecting, and studying them as a child completes their homework faster than doing it normally. In addition to all of the other crazy schemes a smart one can get up to. I had a rat that was in the mob and occasionally brought in money to my household. They really are a cool item, just a shame we didn't get more versions of the small pets.
I want the quirkiness of The Sims, gameplay of The Sims 2 and the graphics/build mode of The Sims 4. (I never played The Sims 3, so there may be something from there that could be good, I just don't know about it)
Better Sims 3 gameplay and grafics (Sims3 Medieval has the best ones in my opinion), all the things deleted in Sims 2 and Sims 4 moving btw worlds, emotions and multitasking. In fact, I dream with a Sims 5 like that.
@@MasterOfNinjas16 the sims 3: its open world.. no fcking loading screen.. have fully functional car etc.. even riding a horse.. Combine with sims 4 retail and university with the open world at sims 3 ll be awesome.. Edit: but you need super pc since sims 3 alone is super heavy, not mention with mod on..
Patchy does not only gardening but also various chores including helping kid's homeworks. Specially his roll is shine during the paties. Most of all, he is the safest sim(?) to give a key. ;-)
Unless you get one with traits like my last one: dislikes children, hotheaded and kleptomaniac. daily dollhouse-smashing, stealing career rewards etc. I seem to always get that sort of patchy.
@@AnaKinatka For some reason, all my Patchys only have one trait: Lazy! Maybe because even though he's in the house, I haven't officially added him to the household as a member?
@@mossyrocks3967 he comes alive so why not, it is the sims, a game, and the makers made it that you can befriend him and marry him and get children from him..
I wish there was a dock for the drones to land in when they power down or return from the neighborhood; they often land in weird places. It would be nice to control where they are stored, other than by manually moving them. Thanks Carl! It's odd that we don't have more fun objects that add dimension to the game. The Sims 4 could be so great. I wish they would hire some of the amazing modders, CC creators, and builders within the community to expand on what they already have going for them. It would be amazing to look back in ten years and find the same amount of value that the previous versions have. TS4 isn't awful, it has a lot going for it, but it could be so much more.
You're right Taco, and I'm hungry. But seriously, the last time I tried film the neighborhood I had to search for the drone and that wasn't fun. I too wish some of the good ideas out of the modding community could make it into the game.
I agree whole heartedly with your comment about the cc community being involved with the games further development as the cc community has some of the best ideas and stuff, way better then EA. As for those drones, I think they should have a homing/GPS system so that you can locate them in the neighbourhood; when their battery dies, as I think that is what happens to them they just shut down and drop to the ground when flat, also after I spent something like an hour searching the neighbourhood for one, I opened it up but it was empty, so I have to ask what was the point in the first place sending this thing out to video your neighbourhood if it does not do that, I thing it should have been tethered to something like the listing station or the video station and on the subject of the video station thing why can we not watch the video's that we make, again what is the point if you can not watch them yourself!
Here's one of the most perfectly balanced things you can do with both Jungle Adventure and Get To Work: 1. Explore the jungle and find at least one of each relic piece. That is, one of each base and one of each top. 2. Get at least one refined common, uncommon, and rare crystal. 3. Use the items from steps 1 and 2 as merchandise for a retail store. This store is like Build-A-Bear, but for relics. 4. Sell the store from step 3. 5. Refill your cup of tea and salute the picture of the queen you have positioned majestically above your computer. 6. Whenever you want a new relic, instead of having to search the jungle for relic parts, you can just visit the store and purchase the parts you need to assemble said relic. You can even fund the project with the balampalsoh-watcher relic that you can assemble. The store restocks every time you visit it provided it is not owned by a played household.
I want a fully functional plantsim. It's been in the game since the released but it's so outdated kinda buggy and also there's isn't a legal way to become one not even create one.
I've gotten a plant sim as recently as a month ago with just the seeds and growing the tree. I don't have the kitchen pack spoken of. I do have seasons but I think plant sim is base game. I had to buy lots of rare seed packs to find all the moodlets seeds for the tree.
@@tabytastick plantsims were introduced in an event so yes they were base game, which means there still their codes in the base game! And yes you don't need cool kitchen stuff to have them, it's just easier😂😂!
@@alexdelaloire8739 plant sims are base game I don't have KC and I've had plant sims I think it has something to do with the magic beans and tree stump idk it's been a minute you can find them in bb with cheats
Not sure about how the event initiated it, but you can get them now but entering buydebug and buying the Forbidden Fruit. Plant one and you can keep getting more fruit to retain the Plantsim form or turn someone else. So, you don't really need mods to get Plantsims, but you do need to cheat at least once.
The money tree reward is possibly the most broken thing I've ever seen. It only takes one sim in your world to get one, then take a cutting, and graft it onto another plant, if you harvest the fruit of that plant it gives you a money tree seed every day so you can plant another. People say spells are broken, I say that seasons is lol.
You can also put the ready-to-harvest money tree in the family inventory to get the fruit. I try to restrain myself because really just 1 money tree is more than enough. However, it’s a nice way of distributing money for a family when a kid is ready to move out, so they can start off life with more than the default 20K. I like awarding each kid with a money fruit for having good grades. Conversely, the money tree is buggy when you graft another type of plant onto it. You don’t get a chance to harvest that extra fruit, you can only sell everything. I made the mistake of grafting glow orbs onto my money tree and had to use the family inventory to get its fruit.
I was in a sims forum and mentioned that in my *personal* opinion, we don’t need bonehilda because there is a nod to it in Jungle Adventure ie the skeletons that clean your home. There were soooo many comments from people either saying 1 they didn’t know about this feature or 2 telling me they don’t clean your home & that they’re only for appearance in the temple, which triggered my response correcting them explaining about the relic.
I know about the JA skellies, but in my (also personal) opinion Bonehilda is a loved character and nostalgia is nice, especially as TS4's one shortcoming is that it doesn't include the lore of the previous games much. The cleaning aspect really isn't the main thing, even Patchy cleans.
Bonehilda did more than cleaning, though, she was more like a butler. Also, the plane jane skellies from JA just don't have the same charm as her. No one can replace Bonehilda.
Those fishing traps crack me up first one i ever caught anything had a freaking digital camera.... AND IT STILL WORKED no digital camera is going to work after being in the water that long LOL.
I knew about the pumpkin carving station but didn't know you could get better at doing it or they sell for money. I just never paid attention. I learned something from this video. Love your stuff. Keep posting.
I didn’t know the honey protected Sims from heat/cold. Not used the relics either. Not used the celestial crown either, boy I really need to try these now 😁
It's funny how little things will impact enjoyment of a game. Every time I saw the paper girl, the Sims 2 music for her ran through my head. I don't have many packs and I don't use mods... and I always enjoy seeing what might be useful from which pack. It helps me to decide which one I should spend very my limited game budget on, if any. I've used your blog info for many years to check on things or fix a problem and I really appreciate that you've come to RU-vid with your vast amount of knowledge.
Commenting before I watch the video so this might be in it already. I love the yoga mat and bath soaks from Spa Day, both are amazing for the 6-8 hour emotions they provide, and they were soooo useful when we needed specific emotions for work.
Im sure you saw I just took it into a direction where i wanted it away from skills (re: yoga mat), but really should've gave bath soaks a mention in the incense segment. :)
this channel keeps sinking further and further into "carl tells us this game sucks for ten minutes and he's right" i like it a lot, please keep at these videos, i vastly prefer them to all the simmer videos ignoring how terrible the game is
Ash Ketchum' it reminds me of when I was talking about how horrible labour is, and my physiotherapist pointed out that I was pregnant for the fourth time and talking about what I was going to do differently next time - sometimes we complain about something, but keep doing it anyway.
Thanks for explaining these items, I never knew most of what they do. One thing I like is the bowling lanes. I modify city parks. I place a small building or modify existing pavilions to add an enclosed staircase down below the park. It is a lot of land and not used. I have 5 and 4 lanes in the bowling alley section with a bar, washrooms, cash register and counter with a eating bar, sitting bar stools. Still lots of unused space, added separate sitting rooms and activity rooms, don't wake the lama, card tables, dart boards dance floor and dj booth, small bedrooms for tired sims, usually always in use by sims for woohoo. Park traits can be made convivial, hot spot, teen hang out. Place a kitchen and it gets a lot of use for celebs charity spot. Every time I go to parks the sims are using it and lots of sims hanging out.
I knew this video could come in handy for at least a few people. I actually had a bit I cut about holiday shopping since the sales are coming up and this might inform people of side attractions they could be unaware of.
I’ve heard when placing a bug from the listening device from strangerville on say, the flower bunny or (Santa claus?) you can get funny results but I’ve never tried it...
i know it’s not an object but i LOVE butlers! they single handedly make vintage glamor one of my favorite packs. they make it actually feasible to play as a single parent with more than one kid (they are SO helpful for twins/ triplets) and they take care of little maintenance stuff i tend to forget about. plus, it’s always fun to have an affair with the butler. they change the whole game but i never see anyone talking about them, they’re seriously underrated
liliespetals19 Mine have never helped with bees, just the the plants and sometimes help around the house. I’ve never had one rake either, which would be super helpful lol
Something I’d love to see would for Create a sim to have a sub category of traits that don’t have to impact the actual personality of the sim but give background to the sims (eg have a sub category with things like ‘divorced’ or ‘widowed’ or ‘vegetarian’ ‘insomniac’ ‘hay fever sufferer’ - you know things that people just are vs actual personality traits. I would also love to make an overall lineage in sims. So like say you have a total of 30 sims; but are only playing with a household with 4 of them- you can select the sims from your created sims to say ‘grandma’ or ‘mum’ or ‘sister’ etc. So that you can have family living in different houses rather than have an entire family all under one roof
It's not fool proof, but for lineage, I just make the whole family in one house, then make a separate household with a throw away character, move the family members I want out to that household, then delete the throw away. That's how I made a kid live with his bio mother and his bio father live somewhere else.
Ok, I know this is an old video, but I gotta comment something about the hamster cages that never gets mentioned. If you have your child Sims "study rodent" it counts as doing their homework. The kids seem to like doing this better than the regular homework and I think it's a little bit faster.
Great video, I forgot completely about Patchy the strawman until you brought it up. I'd like to point out that the incense burners seem to have a little bit more depth to them. The strength of the moodlets you get depend on a sim's traits. For example, with most sims, Saffron scent grants +1 focus. But for my snob sims, it always seems to grant +2. The incense also seems to boost the duration of other spa day moodelts like bath soaks and so on, so long as you use the scent that " pairs " with the type of soak. You probably knew most of this, but I wanted to bring it up just incase.
I really like that you talk about stuff you like about the Sims 4 and I'm so pumped about the Selvadorada relic. I've sent my Sim family there for a little vacation and they were raiding some tombs. Back home I had the once relics head up for display as decoration and got constant buffs from my Sims, that they want to use it, but I haven't found the foundation yet. So I'll pass it on to my firstborn, so she can find the foundation and try it out. I think it's nice that you have something unique in your game that gets passed on different generations. The Wishing Well once brought a lonely Sim of mine a lot of luck and a charming husband ad I need to try out Patchy. I always wanted to create Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz marry Patchy, will try this soon. But thanks to your video, I'm quite hyped up again to play the Sims and try out different stuff and explore a little.
Thanks for the new-to-me info in the video and the added bonus of learning new things in the comments. I discovered that bees will bring you things but didn’t know that bees help your garden or that honey gives you weather immunity! Heading to add bees and Patchy to my garden plots now. 👍🏻
I wish there was an update to the Outdoor living world.. for canoes, and Fishing. it could have a Nice rehaul so I could have American-Indian sims in my forests. I use a mod, to make the outdoor living world a regular world.(THANKS SAM!
Okay I just had an awesome idea lol. If someone else has already thought of this, my bad. I like making spellcaster sims. I make their clothing choices kind of witchy, their houses cluttered with herbs and crystals and whatever else. I never knew the scarecrow came to life, this just gave me more ideas
As someone who's been playing the franchise since it's release in 2000, the current sims team is probably the laziest we've had - as long as they collect their checks and can just release a patch, they don't care. That's why there's so few of these types of objects.
Finaly someone who talks about the wishing well! I like that one so much!! Skills, promotion, a baby, luck in love or simdolars, it gives a lot! But there is alsow a side effect.. the wishingwell can get pissed and then he can take money, kill the sim, block skill upgrading, messes with fertility and have your sim fired! I like it a lot! 😊
Thankful for your guides...used them for many years for multiple games. If I ever need help or w/ e with a game i look for a guide from you first. So thank you very much. Enjoy.
Hey Carl, been watching and reading your content for awhile. Beforehand your videos were good, but I felt that it was your veteran status in the Sims Community and the goodwill you build that kept me engaged. Now, this is actually a legitimately well made video editing and script flow wise. You’ve been improving a ton, and this is your best one by far. Keep putting more time into your guides, it pays off.
Washing machines and hampers etc. Search pockets before moving clothes to the washing machine and you can easily get 20-60 bucks per hamper for doing so.
I believe playing classical music can help keep them soothed. And I think there might be a flower arrangement you can make that calms them down, not completely sure I’m remembering that correctly though. I am positive Carl’s site has a section on the bees that would tell you the best ways to keep them calm. :)
Hmm, I tried reading some different posts and sites on it. What can calm them from what I found: - Crocus-scented floral arrangements (need lvl 7 flower arranging skill) - Classical music, or maybe Summer music if they don’t like classical - bring them Indoors into a Climate-Controlled greenhouse or room - Place an Outside Heater next to the box (or just nearby maybe?) - having the season be Summer - Sunny Weather - Bond with them frequently, supposed to work better the higher your relationship bar is with them If all else fails, Sell that box and Buy a new one and start getting your relationship up with your new bed, right away. From what I read our Sims can sneak around and Play with the bees without our noticing, especially if playing a home with multiple Sims. Playing with the bees gives the Sims a good playful moodlet but makes the bees angrier. Other things that seem to anger the bees: - Rain and Snow- being outside in this weather makes them angrier - Thunderstorms increase their anger, even indoors, but I assume moreso when outdoors. Bee boxes can be struck by lightning and die from it, I read. - Winter, Spring, Fall seasons- they get more unhappier more quickly during any season that is not summer. - being too Cold or too Hot seems to make them grumpier, someone suggested having a shady spot for them during summer might help - having music playing nearby that is not Classical (or Summer maybe) can make bees angrier it seems, but as I saw a couple people suggest that Summer music worked for their bees where no other music did... maybe that means different boxes can like different types of music? But that seems like a level of detail that would be unusual in Sims 4 so I have my doubts, - Sims Playing with bees make then angrier even though the sim enjoys it. And Sims like to do this interaction autonomously, when we aren’t directing/controlling them I feel like I am forgetting a couple things but yeah, if you’ve tried this stuff already, the best option seems to be to sell that box, but a new one, and start over with them, making sure to bond with them frequently. Good Luck! Hopefully something will help! (I included stuff you said you already tried/explored in the lists in case someone else comes along later with a similar issue.)
mariesalias That’s too much stress for me, lol, I never get kids in sims either because I get stressed if I can’t take care of them properly. I think I’m one of few who appreciates the stressfree (for others - lacking) gameplay of sims 4, I love sims 2 and I want to get 3 as well, but I can’t play them for too long because there’s too much going on. I actually admire people who can keep a big garden, tons of bees and kids as well, without getting too stressed about it
Honey is great because it's an entire meal's worth of hunger that can be consumed quickly and doesn't go bad. Sometimes I like to keep some on hand for if I'm out and about and too busy to bother with actual food
Great video as always, and I also hope they add more stuff like this. Very disappointing Realms of Magic didn't add a bunch, would have made so much sense to have more magical items and the like.
Yeah, very good point. Magical relics would've fit right in. Crystal ball that helps you learn the traits of Sims, and lots of little things that could double as decorations. A magic mirror would've been really neat.
What, no comment on the masterpiece pumpkin feature that turns them into inspired/focused/whatever you happen to be in at the time mood items (okay, not sure about ANY mood, haven't tried angry, sad, etc)? Sure they're random to make, but having an interesting-looking mood-buff giving item is great!
Double-checked and you can make them for all of the positive emotions except energized. Flirty, focused, inspired, confident, and playful, all at +2 for one item!
Thanks for the info. Patchy and bees are 2 more reasons why I might have to get Seasons. I might have to try out those Relics from Jungle Adventure, as I already have that pack.
1: The video is beyond outdated, so here is a more up to date, but might be incomplete. (My track record of noticing the items with "special" functionality is baad.) Doctor Playset; An item that result in the sim remembering playing with it if they become a doctor. Umbrella Stand, Private Journal (This item deserves it's OWN video alone...), Family Bulletin Board, NanoCan Touchless Trash Can, Smart Vault, Incense Holders, The Pile of Presents, X-Mas Tree, The Attic Stack Decoration Box, most if not all of those things is hidden inside random 100+ item categories. Men and Women Shoe Rack it has an sim click on setup for wearing slippers, barefoot or shoes indoor, it is in the decoration section under clutter and it's description doesn't even mention it.
Great video! I feel like there are so many things I miss in Sims 4. I only started playing late last year and have been gradually buying the packs, but because of this I feel like I have rushed through content and skipped over a lot of features. Thank you!
started watching, bet at least 8 of the objects are from stuff packs and not gameplay packs. ok i retract my statement. :P wish we got more objects like the well or bees in terms of impact, they might be small but they come with risks and rewards which tbh sims 4 needs more of
Yeah, it's from a mixture of expansions, game and stuff packs. I'm kind of bummed we have 28 packs but I only found 12. They're good and all, it's just one of those things I like about Sims. Finding some random item in the buy mode that I'd never noticed that has its own functions. Agree with you about risk - that also kind of comes up in the hamster part, because it's easily fixable as soon as you have it. You have to be utterly negligent on another level to die. I'd even say you have to deliberately want to die but it happens here and there to people.
This is so fun to watch I've played the sims and know every game, expansion, stuff pack etc etc etc from the very beginning (I Know them all inside out and back again) (sim city 2000) until the end of the sims 3. Life got crazy and now I'm chomping at the bit for sims 5 to pick up the sims again. I'm totally skipping sims 4! I even created the neighborhood from sim city until the Sims 2 and I also pre created my sims in CAS before Sims 2 realise) I have been obsessed!!!!!!!!
I for one love Spa day and Laundry pack, what can i say i love Watching my own sim get a massage its very relaxing irl, also i love washing clothes and such in Sims also Seasons should of added Plantsims as a new occult Lifestate for keeps
I finally realize you have a youtube channel! I look at your guide for everything! Thank you so much! I've been playing sims since "The Sims" on gamecube :) and now on xbox one!!!
Not sure if it counts but the inventions your sim can create with the scientist career that came with get to work. Your sim can create a cloning machine (clones collectables & food, when upgraded can clone other sims) and my favourite: the simray (a ray gun that can do a whole bunch of stuff, but I like using it on gnomes to transform into a new item)
