I was there in Sumter SC and 7 y/o when Hugo came. It was terrifying and I still remember it vividly. Our home was the only one destroyed on our street.
Nah. Katrina was a Cat 5. And it also was more devastating because of where it hit-a city under sea level. Hugo was a little weaker than Katrina (Cat 4), and it was a fast moving storm, so it didn’t linger over where it hit like a lot of other hurricanes do-which would have made it even more devastating than it was.
@isaiah2810 and so was hugo, and katrina was weaker then Hugo at its landfall respectively (category 3) not saying katrina wasn't devastating just needed to point it out.
@@kaysammy6730 It could have been worse when it hit the Virgin Islands. I experienced Hugo when it hit coastal SC as a Cat 4. It was devastating, but not as bad as what Katrina did due to New Orleans being below sea level.
