This is fascinating. I think it's possible that the Cambodians found fossils of Stegosaurids and made carvings of them. Or possibly it's a sheer coincidence that it looks like a Stegosaurus.
+Joel Connors The ancient Khmers probably found fossils of a Stegosaurus and then piece them together and carved the picture out. It's quite possible that these people can do this a thousand years ago which proves how advance they were.
If they had the ability to understand comparative anatomy and paleontology to that degree, that's a marvel in itself. Think about how much science goes into this even today, with teams of experts all putting these pieces together. Otherwise they would have had to have found a whole, very well preserved stegosaurus fossil to be able to just draw a picture like that. Not impossible circumstances but extreeeemely lucky. But then you look at the murals of extinct elephants with 4 tusks and extinct hyenas with long tails. It adds a whole other level of weirdness to this temple and this civilization.
There is also the possibility that a direct descendant of the stegosaurus lived in East Asia up until 1500 years ago.....again, this is highly improbable, but not impossible. Reminds me of the stories of the "dinosaur" living in the Congo within the last few decades. If there were really only a handful of these animals left in a thick jungle and wetlands and they were very good at avoiding people, then it could be possible they would never be found by westerners. Or even if they were "stories" passed down by the natives, then they still could be referring to real animals that were still around until quite recently. The vast, and I mean vast, majority of animal fossils that are still around today are more just extreme luck than due process. Most animal carcasses are wiped clean off the record. We only see a highly distorted blip of the history in the rocks of this planet.
Some guy recently discovered soft tissue on a triceratops horn, and he got fired for making the claim that they went extinct thousands, not millions of years ago. Same thing happened with a T-Rex Skelton as well.
Correct that’s exactly what it was. In fact when you look at all the other carvings on the temple they usually have designs behind the subject. It looks like a lotus flower behind a rhinoceros and we’re only seeing the petals from the flower
Spotted wild coincidence theorist! What a coincidence that they imagined animal that reminds something real. And why would the artist but one imaginary animal with others that are known as real. Makes more sense if artist pictured it as real observed animal, that just happened to be exctinct some time after it was pictured there. Even Dodo was believed to be imaginary animal, because only evidence of it's existence was on old drawings.
LOL Not a steg... a rhino with leaves carved on the background. Interesting how NO other dinos are on this temple AND steg fossils aren't found in this area.
@@justme.9711 Your book is nothing but fabricated stories and no facts. A 5-year old has more intelligence than you probably do if that's your only source of information.

Not very difficult. When you look at all the other carvings on this temple they typically have designs behind the central subject. It looks like a lotus flower behind a rhinoceros. We’re only seeing the petals from the flower giving the illusion it’s on the back
@@rayman11 it seems that you have eyes for decoration, explain the each details why this carving is not a dinosaur (not alone stegosaurus). Atleast our culture shows this much of detail.noe let's don't speak about flat earthers
It's because stegosaurus were still alive in the Cambodian jungle. The earth isn't millions of years old it's only 6 thousand. The earth is younger than we think.
