We are grandparents in America and we have fallen in love with you and your family. You bring a fresh innocence and genuine joy to your videos. Please just keep being your honest self and don't try to be a "professional videographer" in your approach. You have wonderful creative ideas in your shots and editing. You have a strong sense of yourself, your skills at building and ability to bring your joy to all the hard work of creating a homestead. I loved the chicken coop segment. I lived on a 10 acre homestead for nearly 20 years so I can relate to your struggles and triumphs as well as your disappointments. I especially appreciate your family's "good enough" attitude, how something doesn't need to meet some other person's measure of perfection, it just needs to be good enough to function. The segment of your father and brother dancing made us smile at how beautiful it is when a family is free enough in love to do goofy things that the world will see. Your brother so resembles our first grandson, now in his 20s, when he was that age that it brings him back to us in a very real way. And then you sitting in front of the fire reading brought back such fond memories of watching my daughter at the same age sitting in front of our woodstove with her feet up on the hearth reading, lost in the world of her book but anchored in the warmth of our home. Adore your comment and while reading I am thinking about life, my parents that are already gone, my dreams, our struggles and mistakes, my best moments when I wanted and used to help a lot at a very young aged ( but I was not allowed or supposed to, if you understand...) because that type of works were not for a girl... Absurd mentality in an education of no-nos and things that were left only for men to do. Even though I am a very handy and creative woman today, I struggle thinking of all those things that I did not achieved because my family ( specially my mother) refrained me of doing just for being a woman, like playing to be a carpenter, a great cook, or the best mechanic ... Thanks for reminding me all those things as I write these words. I am Colombian and play to be an artist, an interior decorator and garden lover while things get better in the world !

So you have nearly 10 thousand subscribers with just 3 videos. That has to tell you something. You don't need to get better just carry on the same as you are doing now, as what ever your doing works. Your family is working really hard to fix things up and your doing a great job as well. A word of caution, when cleaning out the chicken house please wear a dust mask. A lot of nasty things are contained in the chicken droppings and you don't want to inhale them in. You have an infectious smile that is really nice to see in these sad and dark days. I said to her hun when you have your own home one day you can do as you please, these people have been blessed with a beautiful home they are placing their own mark on it, and that is what makes a home, Home... when you place your mark on it and create it how you want it to be. Loads of artists, but the most simple folk often have higher education, you would just never know it from their homespun clothes. I have never seen a new channel grow so quickly. The videos are interesting and I can see the potential of what your home will become with all the hard work your family is putting in. Your Mom is superwoman. My best advice is to be yourself and enjoy this amazing adventure you and your family have started. I would like to mention that you think about wearing a mask when you are cleaning out areas that put a lot of dust or feces from animals. Your little brother keeps me smiling.

@@handcraftedhomestead255 fences are good as well but we’re talking about protection of yourselves and your health by wearing a mouth and nose mask when working in dusty environment, especially when the dust may contain animal poo and especially chicken poop. She did confuse faces with fences but we should read between the lines and still understand her. At least she's trying and doing well so far.

I think the reason I am drawn to this channel is that these videos have an organic feel to them despite the mistakes because imperfections is what make us human and gives us the ability to connect in a deeper way. So keep it up and keep it simple
Don’t worry too much about the filming process or you will drive yourself crazy. Just film and the rest will work itself out as you grow. Tell everyone just to treat the camera like another family member. My wife and I think you are doing remarkably well.
I also helped my parents fix up homes we lived in.I 'm a grown woman now and have bought a 120 yr old house.Everything has to be repaired.I am thankful I learned so many things about repairs when I was younger.I wish you and your family all the best .It would be nice to know where the house is,age of the house( a bit of history.)
