The dream of a passionately made racing game strays farther away every year…

Man, throughout this entire video I can feel your conflict. Even as a non-PlayStation gamer, I honestly hoped that this game would be great. Not only because It’s been too long since PlayStation players have had a competent racer, but also to push the genre further and maybe encourage the main competitors to step up their game. I fear for the future of the genre; it’s up to the Forza Motorsport reboot to either give me a glimmer of hope or to seal in that fear.

As a Forza fan, i was hoping GT7 would absolutely demolish Forza. I was hoping that sales would be so good that Forza would take a look at themselves and realize they have to catch up. They have shit to change. FM7 you could get a McLaren F1 for free as your first car and they didn't think that was weird in the slightest. Racing games are fading and the only hope we have coming up is the new TDU game, the new NFS game and hopefully the new Forza Motorsport. But if a racing game Juggernaut like GT7 cant even get it together then my hope is fading

I find it genially heart breaking for specific reasons attached to my own personal life. I even worked with Polyphyony on GT:Sport with their design team and know a couple of them on a semi-personal/business relationship which I kind of explain how....I respected Polyphony as a Studio more than anything and owe them everything for what their Franchise did for my life. To a degree I dont blame them as a "whole". Sony has a massive strong arm over Polyphony that people tend to forget about. But, I started with GT2 before I was 10. That game exposed to me the world of cool cars and motorsport which put unkowingly at the time put me on a life path, journey, and passion for "everything related to cars". Obviously as a Studio, they need to make profit like any business, which to be expected and required. Back then with GT and most games, they developed them with a passion and love for their vision of the game. One thing that was apparent with older GT titles is you could plainly see the Studios hardcore passion for car and racing. That franchise just oozed all love and passion which was genuine. I think thats why so many people loved the GT Franchise. The Vision and Passion came 1st and the Sales/Popularity would reflect that in most aspects. We know the Games Industry as a whole is mostly dead in the context of Art and Passion being the spear head. Games started dying ever since other Big Business Industries saw the tremendous opportunities for Profit and began their takeover 15+ years. There's only a few big studios left with some of there integrity and Polyphony "was" one of them. GT7s release wasn't just a death of a franchise, it was a nuclear bomb that shamelessly Spit in your face with a kind fuck you on it way out. I could write novel about all this but Ill keep it short. Back to the reason why about why Polyphony's blatant turn to the darkside affected me so much (funny to most because "its a "game" haha, right?". No. As I mentioned before, as a kid GT2 exposed me to Cars and Motorsport to an extremely influential degree. I didnt just like the game, my life and interest for car/motorsport went from 0 to 100 and from those early years onward, everything I did was related to cars. I almost developed an obsession. Luckily, my dad was a motorhead and loved that I started to show interest into something he loved. My relationship with him grew massively over the years, I started turning wrenches, got into racing go-karts, dirtbikes, and anything that had a motor we could afford, I would race. All before my Teens. When I hit 13, My dad bought a clapped out 1970 Cuda as a project car (when muscle cars were actually affordable). We spent 2 years restoring almost everything on that car from metal working, the motor swap, suspension, interior, etc). I learned so many skills in life and for cars during that resoration. The Cuda turned out amazing and we started doing the whole car show thing, won some trophies, and opened more doors in that world. During all those years to the present, I my love for Japanese cars and Tuner culture was just as big. So to wrap it up, GT put me on a life path that I consider amazing and Im grateful for. I went to College to become a Automotive Engineer/Designer, I graduated, and ended working in a lot of different fields in the Automotive Industry. I did concept designs in 3D and 2D software for customers at Custom Shops, Couple years doing Paint work at body shops, and so on. My qualifications allowed me to travel the world for a lot of those jobs which I can't complain about. For the last 7'ish years ive been working for Honda in America as a Senior in Digital Design which is definitely a dream job. My responsivities constantly change depending on what product or partners we are working with. Its a great Job and would work for them until I Retire. I also work as a freelance artist for the past 10 years partnering and designing products for companies mostly in the "Performance Part" industry. Everything from Valve Cover Oil Caps, Wheels, Body Kits etc). I mostly make more money being a Freelance Artist than I do from my Salary at Honda which makes it tempting to go full time freelancer but any artist knows their is massive risks. Anyways, Im thankful for all the opportunities in life I had, the people and relationships ive made (business/personal), and I definitely do not take them for granted. I dont know where or what id be doing if I never had that spark lit in me from Gran Turismo and to see their company finally fall in the worst way possible is just sad.

Yes they addd a singleplayer to GT7 after the backlash from GTS. But making you require an internet connection just for the singleplayer and saving your game instantly killed this game for me and all the value and longevity it could have. Ill stick to forza for the time being. As they atleast still allow for offline play and heck, even splitscreen for the motorsport games. Atleast for now anyway.. 😕

Well done 👍 1) concealing micro transactions from reviewers 2) needing to always be online to play solo campaign 3) campaign being comprised of a somewhat dated cafe 4)nerfing race payouts weeks after game is released 5) charging an astronomical price for vehicles All this said, playing Cockpit mode, McLaren Ultimate Vision, Arcade Mode, is a blast. I think as the years go by you might decide to revisit this game and realize at its racing core it’s brilliant. The campaign not so much, the company and their phony apology definitely not, and yet the pure joy of racing Nuremberg in a futuristic McLaren is what I keep going back to…I’m not sure how but despite everything I really like this game. ( chase cam is TERRIBLE in GT7) 😂

I bought a PS4 when it came out. Realised over the years that very few games are worth my money. Decided to wait until Polyphony “eventually” make GT7. 9 years later here we are. With a game that is such a far cry from the originals. That it finally pushed me to sell my PS4

Such a great review! I think Sony was the main perp behind the MTX. I still like the game due to the visuals, sound and physics. Also they really dropped the ball for a milestone release. 25th anniversary should have had all the tracks you listed plus a celebration of the game’s history throughout the campaign (instead of menu books). This does not have any indication it is an anniversary release apart from 25 slapped on an expensive version.

im sad gt7 went this route... me not being able to play it im pretty sad to see how the player base is disappointed in the outcome, and i respect and entrust the gt comunity, especially the older players, as early gt games were so popular and mostly the definition of a racing game, that made this industry as important as now. I even thought to spend 500€ for a ps5 that i dont need to play gt7 with how i felt after some (true) gameplay, but knowing more about the game itself (as your review was very well structured and done) i wont ever think that again... well see how the next gt game will look like.

Seven months later into the game's life cycle and this review aged like fine wine. As a hardcore Gran Turismo fan, I'm awfully mad with Polyphony's management of this title seven months later and they have the nerve to call it a "live-service" while offering less than GTSport every month. Sometimes I really wanna know what they want to do with this wasted potential of a game It's single-player focused but not really cause all of their efforts is more about the online aspect apparently and even then the online is starting to get boring because nothing has really changed with Sport Mode and adding an online time trial challenge isn't gonna solve all of the issues that surrounds the online (they even marketed the game with the return of seasonal events on the back cover but where are they seven months later ?) It's a live-service game but not really cause of these sporadic updates with very little content I really want to be hopeful for the future of this game and of the franchise as a whole but considering that farce of a drip-feeding of content, I think I'm just done with this series at this point.

Simply, the best review of the game and one which enables consumers to make informed decisions. Absolute class. I've yet to purchase the game, I probably will when its price drops. Great review man! You clearly put a lot of thought into it and you expressed much of what I also feel about the game. The only major difference between my opinion and yours is that, despite all that you said, I still love playing the game.

Absolutely brilliant review! Personally, my biggest problem with GT7 is the forced online connection, this requirement instantly renders any game into digital waste. Because after they decide to shut down the servers you won't be able to play it anymore. Horizon 5 is also very disappointing in terms of preservation, because the festival playlist brings one huge disadvantage. If you haven't played it since launch, you will miss out on all the added cars and won't be able to claim them at a later time. (This problem also applies to all recycled cars from previous titles to artificially stretch the game). And after claiming a festival playlist car you can only have one, so no individual builds. They should make festival playlist reward cars available for purchase after unlocking them and lock them from the auction house instead. And at the end of the game's lifespan, they should make every festival playlist reward car purchasable from the in game marketplace. I really hope that the hateful security on the Xbox One will be cracked one day, so I can at least save and preserve my favorite racing games Horizon 1 and 2 with emulation. This game, is just heartbreaking for long-time fans of GT like me. -The physics feel AWFUL for so many road cars with the insane snap oversteer, the latest patch has tried addressing this but it still exists (i don't suck at driving lol, golded everything in-game except 50% of track experience which i'm working on finishing) -The "campaign" component somehow has less offline content than GT Sport -MTX disaster -Online-only in a game with an awful, unbalanced Sport mode component (good luck trying to finish higher than the meta cars in any other car) After playing the ever living hell out of this game, i can sum it up as "GTS with borked driving physics having an identity crisis"

Gt7 is my first gran turismo game, and I love it... but I do have to agree with a lot of your grievances. My personal biggest grievance is that the "daily races" change weekly

I think I've learned more about this game here than pretty much most other reviews of this combined! It really sucks with this way this launched though. I was thinking about getting a PS5 just for this game. I know I will... (Eventually) but I'm certainly in no rush to get it. Excellent review, man!

I really hope more people invest into the sim side of racing games now (ac, acc, rf2!) as the more 'mainstream' games just aren't delivering.

I don't share your view at the end, where you mention game devs care about the wallets, while I feel as an employee developer you have no choice but to code the game as per the requirements of the publisher and investors. My opinion is that Play Station and Polyphony leadership itself share the blame, rather than the developers themselves. Now, we're scared of Project Cars 4, GTA 6, GT8 and could the new Forza Motorsport pull it off? Idk. I doubt it

These are some reviews that i definetly like. Sometimes, i watch reviews for games for reasons like for product purposes and they are really undetailed. But THIS kind of details in 1 video is good.

Unpopular opinion, but I found Project CARS 3 to be a return to form for the casual racing game. I honestly haven't had so much fun in many years due to the dull and uninspiring games that have released in this era, further ruined by the modern trends of increasingly greedy business practices and live services. Playing it for what it is, not the simulation title it could have been, which is essentially found in the form of Automobilista 2, Project CARS 3 is a breath of fresh air. I find the driving and gameplay very satisfying, with a campaign that is balanced decently well. Not overly grindy like Gran Turismo, while also not handing you everything like in Forza. Add to that is a very good and rounded selection of content in the base game, with no substantial unlock barriers, and is also all easily accessible in Free Play and the Showroom. If only more people could realise this and not be blinded by fandom for a particular franchise, or just follow the general sentiment of the game, which in the case of Project CARS 3 was overwhelming negativity. I regretfully was dismissive of Project CARS 3 until I actually tried it out for myself, and it was a eye-opening experience that really highlighted how important is it to form your own opinions and not cave into too much of the background noise. I'd argue that what Sony and Polyphony have done regarding microtranactions is a more heinous act than Slightly Mad shifting the direction of its franchise. People need to explore alternatives to the usual Forza and Gran Turismo for there are many good games out there, take GRID Legends for example which not many people are discussing. If we don't keep the competition alive, there will be more stagnation in the genre, and new releases are going to be continually bland. The sad thing I see with Forza and Gran Turismo is that the seasoned playbase continues to hope in vain for the game and series to come good, and all they are receiving for years now is mediocrity in return. I know I used to be part of this group, but after leaving my comfort zone more and introducing myself to more diverse selection of racing games through 2020/2021 I have found many hidden gems that are deserving of a larger playerbase.

I remember gran turismo on the psp being my first ever gt game and my last at the time due to how long it took me to complete as well as collecting every car in game. A couple years later I decided to pick up sports to get back into GT and was shocked to see how reduced and dismantled it was compared to the predecessors but I did find some enjoyment after the updates and post launch contents. With this game I was heavily considering to purchase it but seeing this review convinced me how subpar it is similar to sports especially online wise so thank you.

What a beautiful game. With TDU2 it's up there with love for cars and lifestyle around them. Even the menu music is so mood setting and makes for a perfect relaxing playlist. It's night and day to FM.

Although I’m new to the Gran Turismo world and your points are understandable. I think GT7 is pretty good on most parts. I see it more as a driving simulator with a wikipedia more then a game due the fact they tried so hard to give us history about the car brands and their origins. I found that pretty helpful due to the fact I don’t know nothing bout cars in general and the game is gorgeous. The only flaws I have is not only the greed of the developers, but also the fact it has some cars that doesn’t yet exist, but doesn’t have one of my favorite cars of all time from NFS: Hot pursuit which is a 2010 Lamborghini Reventon. Other then that. The game makes me feel like a Racer I never dreamt to be, and love cars even more and thanks to your review, I’ll hope the future will bring what we except.

It’s honestly sad. It really is just gt sport with some tweaks. I feel I enjoyed gt sport just as much actually. All I saw was a small graphical upgrade and finally a small amount of customization. If I could return the game I would. I don’t hate it but not worth it if you have gt sport.

Thank you for this. Finally a honest review. I was also pissed of with the ending of the game, just some text messages from the most annoying characters ever and credits. No end movie, no special reward no nothing. This tells me this game is just a rebranded gt sport with some things pasted on top, no real development no nothing. A real shame its a scam to get money from you.

Music while racing just makes it harder to shift at the right time. I too have yet to receive any "wheel spin" prize other than the smallest cash prize on the wheel and, when I find a race I can easily beat to make a decent amount of in game money, the opponent cars suddenly get both more aggressive and faster after I beat it a few times. None of this was the case in Gran Turismo 4, the last Gran Turismo I ever played that was worthy of the name (or any of it's predecessors for that matter). I never played the full version of GT5 and only played the prologue briefly at a friend's place and I never played GT6 either but, given that they were part of the first generation of consoles that were just expected to be connected to the internet, I would expect similar problems so I'll say with confidence that Gran Turismo 4 was the last true simulation track racer for a console. The physics of the player's car in GT7 seems quite realistic to me but when I dominate a performance points restricted race by so much I can barely see the opponents when I look back on the straights they always come back and suddenly catch up, quite often passing me in the last three turns, often in repeated tries that all go the same way. That's not a simulation, it's rubber banding to make the game take longer to complete.

This invitation feature is next level realistic since you need an invitation to buy them irl as well

I loved Gran Turismo from 1 to 6,it really was fun get home from work and chill knowing there was loads of cars in the game and tracks,the series was always well thought out,sure some cars were rare and you knew you could eventually get them,then I tried Forza Motorsport 4 and jumped ship as car choice,upgrades felt better and I will carry on with Forza though noticed on Horizon some cars are near impossible to get and yes dont mind buying add one's ie expansion packs,car packs within reason as budget it over a year and work out cost of console and games divided by years you use it and eventually it works out to a cost of coffee per week. I dont know if GT is how gaming is heading,add on's were bad enough but I can see it being you eventually pay for each time you play,each track you use and so on not forgetting epic scale micro transactions,car fans enjoy gaming as it's fun and challenging it doesn't need to mirror life to the point that you cant have your dream car also some casual gamers dont want to grind relentlessly as have real world commitments. Thanks for a great and honest review,I cant get hold of a ps4 or ps5 otherwise would get this game for old time sake and still hope to but will be content without micro transactions and mainly stick with Forza Motorsport and Horizon series,wishing everyone many happy years of gaming.

I think they focus to much on car culture than focusing on both car culture and motorsport. GTSport had the motorsport aspect down I believe, but the other was missing. Now it's flipped because the racing isn't as good as GTSport's career mode which is disappointing when all Poly needed to do in GT7's career was port the events from Sport and add upon that. I think Polyphony also develops their games with only casuals in mind when they can focus on both casuals and sim racers. GT1-GT4 is there to take example of and build upon that, they obviously look back at those games themselves when they literally keep using the GT4 intro orchestra music in the GTSport and GT7 trailers. Aside from Scapes,the Mutiplayer aspect,and the customization really, what are GT fans missing? If GT5 and GT6 had vinyl editor like it should have, people would have kept playing those titles instead and they know it.

That's my thoughts about this game and in fact that's how I feel with every Sony exclusive racing game since the PS4 existed. There's to like about the game and at same time there's things to hate about it. My main issue with GT7 is the car list, while not bad it feels outdated. Like the Audi R8 in this game is V8 version while every other racing game has the V10 version and don't get me started with the amount of McLarens that the game has. Despite them "resolving" the economy issues it's not enough to convince me that the game is good. I feel like being a racing game fan while just only owning a Playstation isn't good thing because you're pretty much limited on what you can play since there's no backwards compatibility to play older racing games from it's previous generation. For that reason, the racing games I'll be playing if I had Playstation besides GT it would be The Crew 2, Grid Legends, Project Cars 3, and Hot Wheels Unleashed but because of the ordeal in GT7 I would play those that I mention more over GT7. Despite what we say about FH5 at least PG and Microsoft still care about player base and the problems with the game even if we don't like how they resolve it. Ok this has been a mouth full and I hope you enjoyed reading this comment. Edit: added what I mean being limited when owning a Playstation and fixed errors with the wording.

And after all this time GT7 remained the only game I play on a regular level while other major racing games all failed in a spectacular fashion. GT7 while lacking in a lot of aspects, nailed its core which is “driving”.

Great review, I agree with your points. I feel like the final hope for the genre is Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown, I really hope they make a GREAT game that finally puts pressure onto Forza Horizon and Need for Speed and other studios, Need For Speed could go either way with how EA is the publisher, Heat was good but scummy trash could return or maybe we’ll have something good. You know the sad part? I have higher hopes for Forza Motorsport 8 than Gran Turismo, PD has literally given Turn 10 the keys to wipe Gran Turismo out with how GT7 is just awful in so many ways, say what you want about Microsoft but at least Forza has never required 300USD from you for a single car, that’s outright free mobile game pricing. TDUSC and Forza Motorsport 8 are what could make or kill the genre, one representing open world racers and the other representing track racing.

I only just got a ps5 (switching from an Xbox one lmao) and this was the first game I bought. It hasn’t even downloaded yet lol. This video really helped, I remember seeing the micro transactions in the store when I was buying it, and I thought since when was it normal for a racing game as big as gran turismo to have a system so money hungry it is only used by companies like roblox and epic games? This will be my first gran turismo, when it downloads I will edit this comment and say what I think.

I miss my childhood, I miss playing the old GT and Forza games because they were so good and so authentic. They proved what this genre was truly capable of and the type of potential it had. The future was so optimistic, it’s a shame that we have to face the reality that today in age, this genre can literally cease to exist, because it’s already struggling not to.

I still Love G.T. Sport. & Has a much Better Layout. Now it looks like pokemon, SPORT was Perfect. & you hit the Nail on the head in this video. 👍 Ps: For me is the Replays, as play not seeing the car, hood view or bumper view, have a really good race sit back & watch the replays. Just found your channel and I gotta say, your reviews are excellent, very well written and insightful. Great job. But, just one question: what is this garage that appears at 01:08 and in many other instances of your video? I've been playing GT7 since launch and never seen it before...

The cars, payout, tracks, story just everything is nothing compared to GT5 and GT6 talk alone bout GT4. Racing is gone. And it hurts me a lot to know that masterpieces like the older GT games aren't coming anymore

The Sony of today is very reminiscent of the Sony that fell from Grace during the PS3 era. When we feed companies too much power and success, they tend to let it get to their heads and become complacent. Complacency is dangerous and is what churns our products akin to Gran Turismo 7, a rushed and incomplete game skewered by pay to win micro transactions. On top of this, the requirement to be always online means that those in charge of these decisions have not learned anything from the PR disaster that was Microsoft’s initially “always online” requirement for the Xbox One.

The Gaming industry is slowly gaining momentum into another market crash, if they continue to whore their games out for microtransaction... There will be a limit to how much the consumer can take before we start boycotting publishers, and in some instances developers.

For me, it's a Love / Love relationship. I don't play online. I play the game the way it started, the way it was designed. Single player.

It feels like accountants have been the end problem with a lot of it. The rest of the issues I feel could have been shaken out in a Beta. -But yeah, the roulette is silly. It should be based on login + marathon so you get better roulette the more consistanly you do a marathon. You should also be able to earn them in the multi-race championships (imo) if they are going to be so RNG heavy. Once you complete the menus, you can only get one a day.... no bueno. -The physics are a bit odd, from the wheelspeed/ground speed traction % is funky... once you get too much or too little rotation it's insta-snap. And the weight transfer snap is funky too. The base layouts for suspensions are pretty much unusable competitively. -And the Lobbies are goofy (often ruined by trolls and noobs too), from instablilty or lack of certain features that make lobbies manageable. I miss Chat audio from GT6, but I felt it needed a Host feature for muting individuals. And also needs a couple more selections for Open lobbies, like "Show" and "Championship"

There's always been a running theme with these GT games, for example- Every new console led to a new GT game, a "innovator" followed up later by a "revised" version Etc, GT1/GT2, GT3/GT4, GT5/GT6 GT2 vs GT3, 3 had less cars than 2, but was followed up by 4 which added significantly more content. Who's to say it won't be the same for GT7 and maybe GT8 down the line? GT Sport was kinda like GT7 beta, so it really wasn't fair to compare GT6 to GT7 considering how much more work goes into making cars/tracks for the PS3 vs PS4, plus a majority of GT6's car list were outright PS2 ports which would be absolutely unacceptable to the public in 2022. My hopes are that in the future a GT8 would further refine the game and bring a definitive end to this console generation, and we'll get the grand experirence we've been waiting for many years since GT6.

GT7 should have been a Summer 2022 release, not an early 2022. They really needed more time for this Game. Oh and they shouldn't have activated the Legendary Dealer until about 6-12 Weeks after release of the Game.

This is a great example of what motorsport should be doing with customization. Completely revamp it. Add more baseline custom parts, and common modifications like debadging and bulb changing. But I think everyone knows they will never do that.

Love/Hate Relationship Gran Turismo 7 still did not fix the online offline issue were you need online to play offline so the still more H then there is L. Polyphony went for the road of pure unadulterated evil

I wish there was a way to move around items on the hud when driving. Its a minor issue but I wish you could move the race timer to the side of the screen like some of the old games, I just find it distracting

I bought this on sale a few days ago for 35 and i kind of regret it even though its not here yet.

Knowing this vidéo is old , It is hilarious and sadening at the same Time that you made me buy GT4 again instead of GT7 By the way , i still have that little book that was sold with the game at the Time ( it had the nissan group c R92 CP on the cover) and i am sometimes taken reading it again after re fiding it after some time Just going through how polyphony shared their passions about what made gran turismo a great licence and the visions they had for the future is depressing , you can see that they were like childs thinking what great games they could do with the next technology in the futures , for the purpose of making a great game itself , '' a Real driving simulator '' Instead we finaly had '' xx modern video game with modern problems '' I gennuinely thinks it is not especially racing genre that are under this trend of live services , micro transactions and unfinished game Can someone name a famous AAA game released recently that had no major technical issue , a sense of growth and progress that feel rewarding and natural for the player coupled to a well crafted gameplay, and a sustainable content ? Not even a groundbreaking innovation , no , just the wonderful Basics. Be it racing , FPS , multiplayer , TPS , horror game , nothing is spare from what this rotten industry is becoming ( An analysis from your part would be welcome as well on the global industry )

I’m a GT superfan. Played it as a kid, now playing GT7. Hated 7 at first, but after learning to tune suspension and aero in the game (and them updating their handling model) it is very predictable and much nicer. Peak GT7 moments are gapping everything in the hypercar parade with an R34 GTR. 😂

Im a relatively new fan, and from my observation of playing PD's games, especially the PS2 era, i thought they were a studio that made to cross their t's and dot their i's when it came to development. It's really sad for fans and out of character for PD to give in to milking their loyal fanbase for money

Gran turismo for me, in all honesty, died after GT4. The first 4 games pushed console racers to new levels in terms of graphics, handling, & in 2 & 4s case especially, the numbers of cars & tracks. 5 & 6 always disappointed me as they didnt move things on, in some areas being a backwards step

Yo! Moses I've been enjoying you racing game reviews recently, I just what to say thanks for the awesome content keep it up. This review really reflects my opinion on GT7 aswell. Its a big disappointment, if it didn't have an amazing gameplay I'd probably sold this and stick to sport. Everything is a step down apart from the core gameplay itself and graphics. Sad time for a GT Fan. I'm also a big Forza Horizon fan so I was a little bit confused about you saying FH5 is a disappointment aswell. I watched your FH5 review and you really liked it and same to me aswell I truly love the game and it might be my favorite Horizon game honestly. Its not perfect though like the bugs (they have improved since launch in my experience), still locking content on playlist which introduces FOMO and recent playlist cars which are from older titles. But overall the game itself is amazing. I just want to know why you suddenly don't like FH5?

In all honesty I've been so focused on getting gold on the licences that I never actually played the rest of the game. I'll have to rectify that at some point, but man does the rest of the game you describe kinda sadden me greatly

I was a hardcore GT4 fan and didn’t even consider Xbox when GT5 came out and I did love that game for all its flaws. Towards the end of its life I grabbed a 360 and Forza 4 which was a mind blowing change and shortly after Horizon came out which changed everything. I still held out hope for GT6 though hoping it would take back the throne and I (ashamedly) bought into every bit of marketing and hype for that game. It promised the moon and barely delivered the Utah desert. I have stayed (happily) on the Forza side of the fence watching the decline of polyphony so happy I made the switch. I am truly sad to see my once beloved series turned into a glorified mobile game, and can clearly see how Forza is suffering from its own success largely due to lack of competition. That strive to be #1 is the reason we got Forza motorsport 4 and Forza Horizon, arguably among the best racing games *ever*. I don’t see that hunger retuning anytime soon.

Well, Im thinking about get a console. Ps or Xbox. To be honest PS exclusive games looks great to me. Like Lost of Us, Uncharted, GT, etc but I tried PS5 and the contoller is so strange to me. I have an x360, and I prefer the asymmetric layout. And PS5 controller feels slippery for me. However I dont really care about Halo and Sea of Thieves or indie games, and Xbox doesnt really have so exclusive games. After this review I dont really know what to think about GT7. For me Forza Motorsport 4 was and still is a masterpiece. I hope FM8 will be something like that. Yeah, I know buy both consoles. Well, it could be an option. But... I just play few games. I dont wanna spend more and more time on gaming. And most of them are crossplatforms. So Im waiting for FM8 and fingers crossed. :) Thanks for the review. Always a pleasure to watch it.

I've played gran turismo from the start, every new edition was waited for with baited breath 😍. I'm totally with you, polyphony have sold their legacy to a new age of people that don't care about any of the intracavitary that made it great. I find GT7 to be cold with no real sense of achievement, GT sport at least had that. When I first started playing I found myself frustrated and not because it was new but because it lacked anything!! It's such a shame to see something so fundamentaly ground breaking end up this way 😣😣.

God I want to play this game, I hope forza motorsport learns and gives us what we want.

yeah to say GT7 is a disappointment is very much a understatement. GT6 was my first GT game and even thought it did release under questionable circumstances and graphics, the game had loads of content for its time. GT7 kind of does the opposite of 6, while it has less cars and has probably the best graphics of any game to come out this year, it severely lacks content that you can tell from even the beginning. Replacing the general GT campaign with the GT cafe menu books was in its self just a mind numbing choice. If they had GT cafe on the side with the expected GT campaign it would’ve been fine but ripping the whole thing out was probably the biggest most questionable choice in the game. In the irony of lack of content, if the game had previous GT sport levels of content on a solo play level, I doubt anyone would’ve complained about car prices, nor micro transactions as we would’ve been too busy completing the game and seeing what was really out there. Still no classic super car, modern super car races same as high end tuned car races and GT2& 1 races LOL! Edit: even though the current state of the game is beyond terrible I hope the updates left for this month and in the coming months stress the severe lack of of content post cafe (that anymore can finish in about less than 10 hours). Considering that they added 8 hours worth of missions last update, they can do it but it all leads back to will they and why wasn’t it here on launch?

Yes they fixed some things. More credit for better races but they should have upped the rest of races also. 5,000. Credits just to win doesn't cut it. Waiting 2 to 3 weeks for a car, to collect and complete a menu book ...its killing me. Losing or already have lost interest....

I still cant belive they axxed DriveClub and never used its great features to make GranTourismo better. And I cant believe how much they hurt the game with the massive changes after release. I still play GT4 and some GT5 on emulators. One day if a PS4 emulator comes I rather play DriveClub than another GT title.

Honestly lowkey coming from Xbox this game as my first modern gt game is leagues above fm 6 7 and the new one imo

Damn i wanted to buy GT7 but because of the microtransactions they added I may buy Grid Legends instead since i heard it’s decent game not only that this situation reminded me when Turn 10 added microtransactions in Forza Motorsport 7

I hated GT Sport, because I am not a multi-player gamer. And I hated that the Single Player mode kept giving me cars. I want to earn them and choose what I want to acquire. Along comes GT 7 and they are giving me more cars with the main game play mode. I just want to race, earn cash and build my own collection. Now I have 100 cars that i really had no choice in what I got and no compelling reason to drive them. My game play now is tuning the gift cars and trying to sort the keepers while earning bank for future purchases. The only cars I am buying are Used cars before they disappear. I will go to the dealerships after I have raced all the gift cars. I really should have skipped the Cafe and just worked my way up from the bottom.

It's upsetting that even after a year of launch with the amount of content updates, the game still doesn't feel complete and doesn't live up to its old titles. I'm still extremely dissatisfied on how the game turned out, especially with the campaign being bare bones.

I honestly have no desire to play this game any more. Yes, they have added more content, but it's really not that much overall even though it is still early in the game"s life. I've tried on multiple occasions to try to get back into the game, but it's just not happening. I'm normally one of the weirdos that has to collect every car and this game was no different at the beginning. The cafe menu is the laziest, lamest attempt at a "campaign" I think I've ever seen. But after slashing rewards and the pretentiousness of the invites and Hagerty it's killed any desire for me to play this game. Just a bunch of lip service by Polyphony that comes up so ridiculously short it's honestly embarrassing. You're review was spot on. Great content.

I think the ending of the video is overly dramatic, your points are fair tho, you didn't mentioned missions which adds a lot of content and take many hours to complete. For me what find most awful is no offline modes for all the content that IS OFFLINE, that's simple unacceptable, just wish we all could agree on this and put pressure on them to change it. The economy now is ok, with the tomahawk I'll never have to pay a single dollar for a car at least for now (but I don't plan to do at all, already 70 plus taxes it's enough) overall I think it's a great game, lots of content but I get why people are disappointed in the cafe mode an all the things mentioned
