Outstanding !!! A completely new way of making your lure blanks and molds !! I agree that you should try and make the blanks in halves, negating the use of support fabrication. Enjoyed this video greatly !! Thanks
You made me want to get a 3D printer and learn how. This video removed my fear and you have given me some confidence that I can successfully learn 3D printing. Thank you!
Thanks for all your comments Glenn. Really great you find my content usefull - And yes. A 3D printer really is a great toy for luremakers. Just go for it
Nice work...lots of good information. I do so much on CAD at work that I'm hard pressed to want to sit in front of a computer to draft lures. BUT, I just can't stop myself. Thanks for the info...cheers.
At least it will make it so much easier to get the design to look like you want to. I still have to adjust my design to what I can figure out to make in the program.
sorry to be offtopic but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost the password. I would appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Maximilian Santiago Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm in the hacking process atm. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I just started delving into lure making and also own a 3D printer. What a great tool to have to lure making. if you decide to get one I would recommend watching some of CHEP videos ( just search for CHEP ender 3); he has a lot of great videos on the ender3 specifically.
Very interesting video. I personally would never use this for lure making cos im little bit too much of a purist haha. however i would love to have one for making specialized tools for lure making.
I completely understand your opinion, and I have been split between the joy of carving and handling wood and the ease of making lures this way. The outcome of this will never match the work you make, and I fully respect your skills. But making lures this way would enable people with let carving skills than you, to get into luremaking. And that includes something like 99% of luremakers. Just keep up your work for everybody to have some high goals to aim for.
@@SplishSplashFishing well to be fair i dont think fish really care about fancy details, those are for us fishermen. Hows the design process on the computer, i hope its easier than autocad lol i used to hate that program when i was in school lol.
@@SolarfallBaits I havn't tried autocad, so I can't tell you if its easier, but it won't take long before I make a movie on how to get to something like the designs of this video, and then you can see. Once I figured out how, it was quite easy I think.
Why aren't LURE COMPANIES making similar lures that can be made? AIRFIX Lures!!! The buyer can choose what sort of lure, size, weights, glide baits, paint templates.... Etc etc.
Thinking abt buying this... I wonder if the pla is strong enough to use as a lure instead of a mold and if it floats or if u need to create some air chamber inside to allow for it... Great if u could share any experience with that... I'm trying to create a improved version of a bomber 15a
It all depends on how you print it. You generally print with a outer thickness and a infill percentage, and the strength of your lure will depend on that. But I would say that you can easily make an very strong lure in PLA. A normal infill rate of 20% will make the lure very boyant, and you will have to make room for weights rather than room for air. Good luck with your project
@@SplishSplashFishing thanks for the recommendation by the way... I got the ender 3 neo for a week now and although the learning curve is quite steep, got my own design and much needed lure in prototyping phases already!
I mainly use the printer to make masters, but I would expect, that if you set the wall thickness in Cura to maybe 2 mm, your lure would be quite durable
Hi Jørgen nice vid as always, what do you think about printing directly the mold instead of master lure? I was thinking to design a mold in fusion 360, then print it with ABS or PLA, then pour polyurethane resin inside mold. Do you think 3D prined molds will last longer than silicone molds?
I haven't tried, but would expect the surface of the lure would end up very uneven. Also you might end op with the resin cast stuck in the mould due to the uneven surface. But in the end you would have to try I guess
i think i must give this a try otherwise i will never know 🙂, i guess pla or petg may just not work so i ordered a roll of abs filament... we'll see how it goes
No doubt that it will be worth experimenting with other filament types, to make the post processing easier. Will take a look at the wood filament - Thanks
Hmm... Not really... Woodfill is based on PLA almost 70 % + real cork / bamboo /real wood dust 30 %... So the printed part will be almost like PLA from post processing point of view...
Its a local brand (or Scandinavian at least) called Biltema, so I am not sure if its generally available. Try searching for "Filler spray" and see what you can find locally.
Hi Jim. Generally I don't sell blanks. First of all because I try to inspire people to make their own designs, but also because I couldn't sell them at reasonable price. At the same time I know how easy it would be to use the blank as a master, and for some of my designs, I like to keep the as a personal thing
Fusion 360 has always expired after a year. You just go to their website and renew your subscription. However they have made a limit of having only 5 editable designs at a time. However you can switch between read only and editable as you wish
The project in the movie isn't really "production ready", so i has not been uploaded. But there will be a "3d printed shad master" movie shortly, that will go through how to make the drawing, and I plan to include links to project files with that
For coating the softbaits I just use uncolored softplastic. With regards to paint, I now use paint that is meant for softplastic. I know of 2 brands of such: CAB Coating in Finland and Brightbaits in Belgium. good luck

I didn't record the making of that mold, but you can watch this video on how to make a 2 part mold: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D0e0fOW973g.html I am about to start recording a video on making making a shad from a 3D printed master, so that will come within too long.
@@SplishSplashFishing there is a way, but you better have a good computer because mine always freezes while doing it. There is a channel called CATCH-fishing with a few tutorials.
@@1joaonobre I I have bought it in a danish shop that doesn't have a webshop. However a search for "spray filler" should give you some local options to pick from. Maybe this: www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-249279-Automotive-11-Ounce-Filler/dp/B003CT4AM0
