I am from the Northeast and grew up loving Sinatra and later Elvis, and of course all the Rock N' Roll, but I feel like I have reached the mountain top of the greatest music in discovering the music of Waylon Jennings

Waylon, always true and always himself. I'm sure he had many interviews with horrible interviewers, but my goodness, this has to be up there with the worst. Waylon was such a humble, kindhearted soul. And by the way- he DID quit smoking within two years of this interview. He never liked to be labeled. But he was and is a legend.

Yeah, sadly this show was not the best when it came to interviews. Definitely did not do Waylon justice!

Annalee Sellers; Waylon kept his composure with the two British "Wankers" at the time.......Jessi had smoothed some of the the rough edges by then is my guess, or Hoss would have given them a "One Of A Kind" interview. Johnny Cash once said that "if Waylon liked you, he let you know it, but if he didn't he let you know that too...Right Quick". He was fiercely loyal to his friends and adored his large family.....Jessi was his Soul Mate, and in many ways his Savior. He cherished her all his life. She was well aware of all the drugs and "Women on the road", but he always came home to her....Always. One night he came home wearing a T Shirt different from the one he'd worn when he left........."Jessi gave him a stern look and said "Waylon, don't you think that little girl would like to have her T Shirt back?".....Like the song says "Ladies Love Outlaws". When Waylon became seriously ill....Diabetes & other health issues..... Jessi put her own singing career on hold and stayed right by his side to care for him until he passed away, without a thought of doing things differently than that. Jessi is a True Class Act...Start to finish. His oldest Son Terry was a long distance, I'd like to say friend, but truthfully more of an acquaintance for several years & we had many conversations about Waylon....the good and the bad...... during that time. I treasured every one, because they gave me more insight about the amazing man that was Hoss. He wrote a book "Memories Of My Outlaw Dad a few years ago. If you haven't read it, I'd recommend that you do. It's a great read.

You could tell Waylon was getting mad, if he wasn’t on national tv he probably would have told them what was on his mind. But to his credit he kept his composure and just kinda laughed it off.

I quit smoking non-filtered Camels after 40 years: cold turkey. Sat in a chair rocking back and forth with tears streaming down my face but I never picked up again. If I don't have ONE cigarette, I am saved. One puff and it's all over again! Reading Waylon's bio right now; it's terrific.

Catherine - I have to be quit by 06/19/2022. I don't know how I'm going to do it, but I have Aortic aneurysms and I must be off the smokes for 3 months (surgery will be sometime after 09/19/2022) or they won't operate, and I'll just die they burst & I bleed out! I envy your self control.

Im appalled at the hosts badgering Waylon, on & on! Ill not watch any of these shows again. Waylon is was of the most kind, intelligent, strong willed, talented people Ive ever known. He is “real”. You rarely find people this authentic. He addressed his intention w smoking, End of Subject. It really made me mad when they mentioned second hand smoke... If they knew what a wonderful dad he was, theyd have crawled under a rock.

Waylon never really liked or enjoyed Interviews , that was the "Real & Humble Side of His Modesty". A very down to Earth man who Proved Himself through those very tough years he had. " Never Say Die" was his philosophical views & Way of Life he believed in. Jessie & him were so good together. We miss you Hoss, I know I do! 🎸🎤🐺💔🎖

Its a sad fact that sometime in the early 80s after a couple public health scares, Waylon became sort of a pathetic figure whom was always asked about his addictions in every interview. Same sorta happened to Johnny Cash around the same time, but his story to most has always been one of redemption and is viewed more positively.

@@merlehaggard2696 He originally gained that gut when he quit cocaine in 1984 - same thing happened when he quit smoking. He lost the weight off and on throughout the rest of his life. He was very trim at all of the Highwaymen concerts, many of which took place after this interview.
