In 1987 Hank Williams Jr was featured on ABC's 20-20. The package is titled "His Father's Son". Bob Brown is the reporter, and Barbra Walters is the host.
The fact that it looks as though someone recorded 20/20 in 1987 on vhs then converted and uploaded it to here is AMAZING! Hardcore Bocephus Fan right there!
Considering he has every right to not be humble in his own right alone not just from his daddy. He has such a brilliant God given talent. I will tell you he is very humble and such an amazing man extremely nice!
Seen Bocephus twice back in the 80's as a young child and it had a major effect on me and my musical journey. One serious entertainer that few could match. Great memories and I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to see him in his prime.
I was out deer hunting a few years back & ran into hank in the woods.it was an akward shocking great moment.he signed the stock of my rifle we talked hunting for a few minutes & parted ways.i willl cherish that moment & the rifle forever.
rubbersole79 never in a thousand years would ABC ever do this again, because he's a racist a racist homophobic bigot? They do need to grow the hell up man.
I just got to see hank a couple hours ago at his concert at the harrinton fair in delaware and the man has still got it he played his ass off and i couldnt believe how many young fans were there going crazy and knew all of his music hank is a legend and after what i seen tonight his music will live on forever!!
@@NormalRabbit12 your first concert? You chose the right man to fo see wait until you see how great hank is on electric guitar hes 73 but acts like hes 20 and its gonna be loud but perfect he hits every note and his band was a ten check out the guy with the beard and he wears a cowboy hat and plays a les paul he was one of the best ive ever heard
One of my favorite Country singers ever. And one of my most memorable concerts. He crosses all genre of music and a true icon. He seemed so natural on stage and in his element. His father may have been a Icon in his time, but Hank Jr. is his own self made man. His singing Voice is unmistakable and unique ! Thank god he didn’t die on that mountain! I grew up listening to mostly Rock, but their was always some Hank Jr. in there as well.
My gma went to see him in 87 she was wheelchair bound by this point and sometime during the show someone approached her and said come with us before she knew it she was stage side watching the legend belt out tunes for the rest of the night...
The ironic thing about me finding this video today is, my wife and I saw Hank Jr for the first time live last week. (July 2022). We talked about it latter and both thought, we liked it, but kinda wish he would have sang the songs the way we were use to hearing them. HA HA. Obviously hasn't changed a bit and I can appreciate that. Still bangs on the keyboard with his boots too. 🤣
Grew up listening to classic country and classic rock. I love Hank Jr, Johnny Cash, David Allan Coe, but also love Led Zeppelin, the Doors, the Beatles, Pink Floyd etc....my folks made sure I had a solid foundation of good music...my generations music mostly sucks in comparison, but this new generation makes mine sound good, it's that terrible....this world is going right down the shitter alright...
HANK JR!! IS AMAZING!!🔥🔥🔥~After reading an interview he had I surely understand what he went thru!! He came out by me & was Soo excited to see him!! He came on stage sang 1 hlf song with words we couldn't understand 😞 walked off stage n never came back on 😞Buuut Hank God Has His Hand On You ~Use That Gift For Good!💜🙏
I was working for the Dupont company on the midnight shift January 1, 1953 when a man came up to me and said, "Hank Williams just died!" I'll never forget how I felt that moment.
Speaking of the accident that nearly took his life, it is truly a miracle that he survived. I am not an overly spiritual individual but I believe someone was watching over him on that mountain.
That is one of the songs that showcases his vocal range the absolute least.... You want to hear him sing? Listen to the song "everything comes down to money & love, in my life" Very good voice!! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ivAJS8kXxR0.html
@@JackG79 Out of left field is me one his best albums few other songs on that Albums Hanks vocals shine, Both sides of Google, Blue lady in red Mercedes, one you mentioned one my personal favorite Hanks vocals is second to none Out of left field he belts one out on thar Gem!
Man i love Hank Jr. ever since i was a young kid, i can still remember listening to my first and absolute favorite song on the NEW SOUTH cassette tape called 'Montgomery In The Rain' for the first time in my dads car back when i was about 3 or 4 years old and i was hooked, ive listened to that tape probably more times then anyone on this planet, i still love it to this day and always will cause its one of my earliest memories..
My very first favorite song, my mom bought on a 45 record in 1968, was Hank's "Cajun Baby". I near wore out that record on her console stereo record player.
Chase, you have that perfect country-music voice! I could listen to you sing all day long. I actually see your energy within your songs! I bet you are fun!
The impact of his father's death, his mother's pushiness and all those drinks and drugs really messed him up. He was never allowed to escape Hank Sr's shadow. He had to do that himself.
Thank you for sharing. Hank has had a very painful life…both Physically and Mentally. My thoughts have been with him and his family as the past couple of years has been horrific for him… with the passing of his daughter Katie and most recently his wife of 32 years, Mary Jane. Honestly, my heart aches for him.
Love Hank Jr. What a story better yet what a life of ups and downs heartaches and good times and I feel for him losing a child was his biggest challenge and a person never gets over something that devastating but he's still going strong and that's what I love about Hank Jr.
I paid to see him in Augusta me around the time of this interview. 86-87 somewhere in there. He was out if it he couldn't sing. He finally found peace shortly after that. He's a heck of a singer.
I think every "section" of these Great United States has its own accent in speech. I am from the same general section as Bocephus, his accent has never changed. The South Alabama twang sounds like home to me. Ol Bocephus has made this guy very proud.. Please forgive my bad grammar.
I'm from California I understood it just fine but remember there are a few of us out here in California that love good country music and believe in the right to bare arms! Not many but some!!
If Hank was alive and found out his son was in the hospital several times at a young age, his rage would be unbelievable. He had a lot of pride for Hank jr. You could only imagine what he would say to Audrey.
@John Williams he had a lot of pride in Jr and cared so much about him. He was know to get angry and it’s not unbelievable that he would be extremely mad that his sons friends and family let him go so far.
Lord man how would you know ? Every young man has his struggles, Hank Sr. had his and didn't survive past 29. His son had his struggles and DID survive, still alive today at 72 and doing well. Built a legendary career of his very own with his own legacy and artists he's influenced. If you can't be proud of that then I don't think you could be proud of any damn thing.
If his mother had succeeded in having him to continue to do his daddy's songs just look at what we would've missed. I'm glad he insisted on doing his "own thing" because both him and his music have made my life better. I have been a fan since my late teens (I'm no longer a spring chicken) and as a fan I have enjoyed both looking at him(his IS easy on the eyes) and listening to his music. I very much appreciate the fact that his mother did not succed in having him walk in his father's shoes.
I watched the Volunteer Jam in 2015 and wished so much Hank Jr. would have been there, Nice Video back in 2005 with Gretchen Wilson, you four should go on tour together cause you all ROCK!!!
This was all in the year I was born. I love hank sr and jr. You have quenched my soul's thirst and I wanted to thank you for the upload. Thank you very very much. I needed to see this in the exact moment I did.
Hank jr. You give inspiration to men which listens to you with that they do better, in the military, in life . You make us feel strong .... So yes you were spared for that very reason. So Yes you are a Hero. Nuff said
Thank you for the endless support and your nice comments. I sincerely appreciate you. It is an honor to have you as a fan. Thank you for the support and love ♥️
I just saw BOCEPHUS on October 9th 2021 and I took my 20 year old son and Hank rock that show and it blew my son's mind that Hank at the age of 72 could boogie woogie and was not drinking love you BOCEPHUS
What a gem of a documentary of one of the standard bearers of Americana. Never knew his backstory until watching this. Hank Jr. is indeed an immortal legend whose legend may even outlive that of his foundational father (blasphemy right ?). Anyhow, what a walking miracle that man is and tough as nails. So many legends of yesteryear that are relatable to the plight and pain of the common man. Something seemingly far removed from the celebrities/popular musical performers of today.
We Love You Bocephus! Your Daddy would be proud cause you did it your way! I am proud that i got to see you in concert when i was just a young boy of 9 or 10... I still have Pictures and a T-Shirt from it and Remember It (You) like it was yesterday... ...& Im Also Thankfull that God Blessed us all with a Talent like yours! Im Forever Grateful to you for putting yourself, your life, in your songs to share with us all! Keep Rockn' Hank! Your the Greatest Country Rockn' Singer/Songwriter/Musician there has ever been! A True Living Legend! ...Sincerely... ~Benjamin D. Collard~ [04/30/18] #Bocephus #HankWilliamsJr #RockOn #DrJones #OneOfAKind #ACountryBoyWillSurvive
I first saw hank jr in 88 and I saw him 10 more times. In my experience he was sober enough about 6 of those concerts. I guess I didn't care because I was drunk too! Last time I saw him was for the beginning the football season in I believe 99 or 00 at river front in Nashville. It was one of the best concerts I have ever been too..I no longer live in Nashville so I have not seen him since.
