It's so scary, the amount of contempt abusers/rapists/killers feel for their victims, even though the victims were kind and showed compassion towards them. This shows that no amount of love or affection can reform abusers/rapists.

The thing they said to her about having to wait 48 hours is a myth. In most of the civilised world the police have to start looking immediately and you dont have to wait any time before you report missing person. On the contrary when looking for a missing person experts will tell you that the first 24-48 hours is actually the most important. TL DR: Having to wait to report missing person is a myth. Please make sure everybory knows it.

How many "they probably ran away" theories have to be proven wrong before they figure out your average adult doesn't just run away. Not even teenagers or kids for that matter. Is it just me or should pets being left behind immediately throw up red flags & the ran away theory taken off the table. People don't leave their pets behind. Esp locked in a cage or inside a house where they could potentially starve & suffer a very cruel demise.

The results from the DNA tests done on the bed sheets, door knob and on the rugs that came back to Rick Ennis were discovered 10 years later ... not 20 ... although I totally agree that someone (or a few someones) dropped the ball. In a case where a juvenile has committed a double homicide, his/her record should not be sealed because people need to know what they're dealing with. If the murderer gets released, they should be closely monitored for the rest of their life. Rest in Peace Lori, you were and are deeply loved 💔 My deep sympathies to Lori's Mom, Arlene, for the terrible losses she has endured. I agree. I'm for treating juvenile offenders differently from adult offenders in terms of rehabilitation/sentencing etc., but sealing their records makes absolutely no sense. The most infuriating cases like this are in Britain where juvenile offenders get to just start a whole new life with a new identity, and any press outlet "outs" them, they can sue. Look up the Mary Bell case, your blood will boil.

I said no at first but it depends on why and how they killed someone. If it's a crime of passion, where they're experiencing abuse right then for the 100th time and they just can't take it anymore. Some type of legit self defense is understandable. I contemplated it with my stepdad tbh ,but I for some reason was able to think about the possible consequences. Even though I had witnesses from my family and friends of some things, I also tried reporting it. I told my dad and he took my mom to court and the judge sent me right back to that situation. Anyway, that would be the absolute only reason they should get out of prison.

I understand and agree that juvenile criminals should have different treatment by the law from adult criminals. But when the crimes involve a "profound" level of violence I think authorities need to recognize the kid could be permanently dangerous. Any kid who murders his parents at 12 years old is DEEPLY disturbed. He needs -- at a minimum -- to be continuously monitored perhaps into his senior years.

This is my worst fear that he is out in our community again when he is a clear psychopath. All it will take is someone pushing the wrong buttons. @@TWHISPERER I retired in 2019 and had not gone to trial. The only thing she said was in a post on her Facebook page, saying that an episode on 48 Hours, featuring Lori’s disappearance was going to be on such & such date and time. I was not a close personal friend of Arlene, but a a coworker and saw and spoke to her everyday. The kind of questions you mention, would not be appropriate for me to ask. What happened to Lori and Arlene is not something you expect to happen to people you know, work with and care about, especially in smaller cities. Auburn is a college town not a big metro city, like say, New York. It was a shock to all who knew Arlene and of course, Lori. So happy for Arlene that Ennis was convicted and to remain in prison for the rest of his natural life, without the chance of parole. I just wish he would tell where Lori’s remains were placed or buried, either that or wish someone would discover her remains. My personal opinion, is that Lori’s remains are somewhere in the Tuskegee National Forest; none of us know, only Ennius.

This one has me crying. The strength, tenacity, and the tenderness of Mama Arlene! The love Peanut had for his beloved human, Lori. I am just sobbing. God bless Arlene and her new dog companion, Daisey. Someday, I know in my heart, Arlene will be reunited with Lori, her son, her husband, and all the furry babies loved and cherished along the way. That cold case detective also touched my heart, and I’m glad he and his wife have become good friends to Arlene. 🌹

How many times do we have to debunk the "they probably ran away" theory before realizing that most adults, teenagers, and even kids don't just vanish willingly? The fact that people leave behind their pets, often locked in cages or confined inside houses, should be a glaring red flag. It’s highly unusual for someone to abandon their beloved animals, knowing they could suffer and starve. This should be a clear indicator that something more sinister is at play, and the runaway theory should be discarded immediately in such cases. The well-being of pets can be a crucial clue in understanding the gravity of a disappearance.

The dumbest thing is too let your teenager go off to college on their own. I swear this country normalizes stupidity

The man who is such a good friend to the mom after all of this is a precious soul. People who have experienced this level of tragedy aren't always so lucky to have understanding and helpful friends in the aftermath.

This story broke my heart. I have had to face criminals in my life and learned they can be so well mannered , charming and seemingly above the law. Sometimes in high ranking positions, undetected , manipulative, lying Demons

Because they are sociopaths. I have a family member who was a horrible child. I always wondered why they treated me so horribly and liked to see me in pain. Always hurting me, and cruel. I always knew there was something wrong with him , I just couldn't articulate it. I'm 43 he's 44. He's been in and out of prison twice, been through numerous drug habs, several kids from 3 different women, diagnosed by 2 different doctors as a SOCIOPATH. It all makes sense to me now. My parents are in denial. But I ALWAYS knew & now I stay as far away from him as possible. He is a narcissist, who deceives people with charm. He never fooled me.

@@Emerald.s Stay away from him and your parents. It's likely their egos that will not allow them to face the fact that their son is a monster.
