As a therapist, I am so impressed by your strength and insight. It's wonderful to hear such a strong young woman being brave enough to share about, and legitimize, depression and mental health. Your voice and words change lives. Take good care of your incredible self...One day at a time hon. Sending a big hug. God bless and you and your wonderful family 💜

Makayla I worked in a spinal cord injury hospital and I’m here to tell you, minus social media, having a SCI is a lot to deal with, then throw in social media and it’s SO SO much more. You are going to have moments for many more years as you navigate this new you. I’d recommend that you join groups, maybe online, so you can connect with people your age that are going through the same thing. It helps to know you aren’t alone with your thoughts. ♥️

Very good advice! I would add for Makayla to read two great books "Still me" and "Nothing is impossible" by Christopher Reeve, there is an audio version of each book here on YT. 🦋🌺

@@mayfloweryasmin well...its delusional to think ''nothing is impossible''....its ok to be positive, but losing reality is worse.....
@mayfloweryasmin
@mayfloweryasmin Год назад
@@222JohnRambo I agree with you on this, to be positive but to remain real. Christopher Reeve had SCI as well and he wrote books to empower other people. Science is making a lot of progress, medicine expecially, stem cells, etc. So we really do not know what else will be possible in 10-20-30 years. 💫

Knowing what you have gone through "physically", anyone would expect you to have a great need for mental health days. When I see you on here all smiley I think ....wow, would I be that happy and accepting of my new disability if I were in your shoes. You are inspiring and make it look very possible to be content in whatever situation you are in. Those of us who "don't" have physical issues and still need mental health days can totally see that you, sweet girl, need them even more. What you have been through and are going through is a real challenge, a real growth in your spiritual life, and I don't blame you one bit for needing LOTS of days to just get things to a good place in your head and forget the daily stuff like school, etc. Saying a prayer for you tonight for peace in your mind, rest at when you go to bed at night, and a positive outlook continually as your live your life day by day. Keep on smiling, beautiful! You don't know who it is out there you might be helping by sharing these struggles. Thank you for being "transparent".

Hey, I understand the depression from being injured. I have been dealing with that after my life changing event. It’s a daily struggle but keep your head up and don’t be hard on yourself. I don’t care how people look at me anymore except for my close family. God Bless

As someone who also went through a life changing injury (40 feet fall) I broke and crushed so many bones, and also have a mild spinal cord injury. I’m glad to see you thinking this way. For me, I was mostly in the high of surviving the first year or so after my injuries, and with some time the true reality of what my life now is and will be started to hit me. Now is the hardest part in some ways, learning to reconcile your situation in real, serious ways. God bless you. Thank you for sharing yourself.

This young lady has more wisdom than most people twice her age. It proves a point that maturity isn't always based on age. I am 48 years old and the most mature bravest thing I have ever seen was done by a 15 year old girl. In all my years no man or woman has ever topped it.

woke up in the middle of a snowstorm at like 6 AM, listening to this. It was a beautiful way to start my morning listening to your wise and intelligent words. Thank you so much Makayla, you touch so many of our lives in ways you could not even fathom ❤ you are really one of a kind...not because of your physical disability but because of the way each challenge you face reveals another layer of tenacity and resilience most people do not have, or perhaps they are never challenged in a way that pulls it out of them. The struggles you face are difficult and its okay to be upset and sad. But they are also helping you realize your potential because had you not faced them, you would not know how strong you are. Just some thoughts. Love you so much.

Dearest Makayla, I am so grateful you shared your struggles! I could see myself in almost all of them. And it feels so good to see others are experiencing the same! Of course I would wish you the very best at all times. But I know well that that’s not our experience. Three years ago I underwent emergency back surgery where the spinal cord was injured. From being a physically active and fit successful nurse to needing a wheelchair and assistance myself. And I am still on my way back to life! And oh boy had there been ups and downs. And I just realized I have been in surviving mode for three years - financially, physically, emotionally and mentally. And I have decided for myself it’s enough. Things have to change. Three years is more than enough! And if anyone experiences the same - you are not alone!

I am super grateful I ran into your video. I am glad to see that I'm not the only one who is feeling and going through such vulnerability. It has been extremely tough for me to express anything or even get myself together. So hard to reach out and when I think about videos that I absolutely love doing I feel so embarrassed and that I shouldn't be making them. So seeing your video has helped me a lot tonight. Tremendously. I'm struggling and I really appreciate how you pull yourself out of this place. You are always in my thoughts for all positive, strength, and breakthroughs for a happier healthier life.

It's 100% to not be okay. I had a stroke with complications with nerve pain CPS. My left hand is live electric, burning, fire pain and works like your hand. The road I am on is so lonely and isolated. I had a big circle friends in the beginning but them not understanding my pain and the disability world they are gone. Dealing with brain injury and losing old me and trying to learn this new disability world is crazy. It's a world that I wish on no one. When you popped up on my feed I prayed for you. Thank you for making and posting this video. Dealing with our complications and having to learn differently is exhausting. Our families lives change to as caregiver too. How did you learn the questions to ask in disability world, who to call. I live in a condo two level, 3rd and 4th floor isolated can't do stairs, no elevator. My doctor said to move, how did you find your home so quickly?

Im being dead serious, I watched your day in the life video and that changed my perspective. It floored me, how dare me think I have it bad. I thought to myself, this little girl is so strong, this little girl is such a light, she smiles through all of this and is taking everything that is so sudden like a champ. You are a true inspiration. TRULY an inspiration. I thought about you all day the next day. At work I had an unusually good day because you smiling and making it made me feel like I could smile and make it. If that makes sense. You and your family are so strong you guys are such a powerful unit. I love you so much you're a true child of God and I just know where you're going after this life!!!

Thank you for speaking up! I grew up thinking taking antidepressants was taboo so I struggled with major depression for well over a decade. Finally, I decided to try them although I was ashamed. A few weeks later it felt like the world had gone from black and white to color. Life changing. I have been stable ever since. I wish I had known earlier that the stigma is absolute BS. We need to recognize that mental illness is nothing to be ashamed of and neither are the medicines that help people live a fuller life (not saying they work for everybody, but they are worth a try).

You are so very beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing about this. It made me think of how "God isn't done with you yet". In fact not at all. You are such a beautiful young woman and you're sobriety is helping the world, heal. You have such an important role Makayla!!! I was so surprised and impressed with the level of insight and clarity and articulateness of your perspective on mental health. It made me realize that there's a beautiful person not just on the outside but you're just as beautiful on the inside and I wonder if this is often the case, that our outward appearance reflects our inner beauty. In all of my 41 years I've never heard anyone give such a spot on talk about the topic, of life. You are really incredible. I wish I was younger because I think I have a crush!!! Whoever gets to be your significant other is going to be so blessed. Keep sharing your light with the world. I'm here if you ever want a friend to talk to. I've been through a lot myself and we continue to go through things, but I've always believed that struggle is what makes us beautiful, and we don't have to hide from it, we can embrace it because it's what makes us who we are and you are right we are all human. This was so very beautiful and even though you were having a bad day you always look so beautiful. Glad you're feeling better though. Thank you for sharing this. Would love a hug but it'll have to be virtual. Keep being your beautiful self, the happy and the sad, it's all beautiful and your vulnerability and optimistic outlook it's all very spot on and beautiful. have a great night. ❤

Hello sweetheart. You're alright when you say "you feel alone even if you are surrounded by family" I know this feeling too. We are alone in our brain, that is why we much live our life like we want. We must to think about us before the others because we are more important for ourselves. We much paid attention about our feelings, and it's not a shame to be struggle, sad, ... I'm in depression too, and a PTSD...and diabetes...so I know the loneliness. So yes it's ok to be struggle. Take care of you 💞 much love from France ❤️

Mind Over Matter is so true Sometimes I take it an hour at a time! But personally, I do love a schedule. It allows me to mentally prepare for whatever activity or arrangement it is. I don't take care of myself at all when I am depressed. It literally doesn't matter what it is, if it requires energy it's often hard to do things. All I have the energy to do is sleep. Wake up and fall asleep. Support is everything. Everything! Lord I pray for Makayla as she battles this horrible illness. Father I just ask that your drape your arms around her and give her the encouraging words and love that she needs. Thank you Father. I love you.

Thank you for this video Mak, you made me feel seen and understood. You described the struggle with mental health perfectly. Like you said no one really and fully understands what goes on in other people's lives. I struggle with my mind so much and I feel the people around me just don't get it. Thank you for sharing this with us and remind us we are not alone in this. Sending much love to you ❤️

Thank you so much for this video, it was exactly what I needed to hear today. I usually keep everything that I'm struggling with just for myself, when I try to share with someone I just keep crying, not knowing how to explain what I'm feeling and why I'm feeling this way. Sometimes I can't even explain to myself, I just feel so lonely and sad.

Thank you so much for your vulnerability!! I know personally how hard that can be. I know you're not looking for pity or people to tell you how amazing you are (even though we both know that's true!) But it's so important for people to see this side of all of us. I have been in intensive treatment for cPTSD for the past year and asking for help is something we all need to do at some point in our lives. And that is ok!!! So much love to you beautiful xoxo

I learned that independence is not as special or important as love/support after losing my Mom. I would have not survived without my family and friends to hold me up. I will need that support until I die because I will forever struggle with the loss of my Mom.

Thank you for making this video Mak. I’m so proud of you for post this. Everyday time I get mad at my myself for getting upset I just remember how you always say to let yourself feel what you need to feel. That advice has helped me tremendously. Thank you for being you. You are wise beyond your years. For such a young, beautiful woman, your message rang loud and clear. I know the people watching it felt the same way as me. Shut down the pitty party, Carol, and get out there and live joyfully. I would love to see you date someone so you can experience even more fun in your young life. God bless you and your family.

Thank you so much for making this video. 💜 I also struggle to do simple things sometimes because they feel mentally overwhelming - washing my face, responding to a text. I really admire your candor and ability to be so human through the good times and the bad. Wherever life takes you, you’re going to have such a meaningful impact on people. You already do. Wishing you lots of sunny days ahead. 💕

You're adorable. Don't worry you're young it's never over, never too late, everyone finds there way, everyone has their own wild story, if you have a negative observe it and find a way turn it into a positive ✌️
