Thanking the Lord for congregational church polity and government. Essentially what she's saying, "Make sure you've sent us all your money and if the super majority vote is there, we might be nice and let you out of the liberal UMC. I suppose that would depend upon if your church property was worth anything. A little old falling down country church, we will let you out, if you have prime realestate, that might make a difference. You can't fight it even though the people of that community and congregation totally built and paid for that building, it is the property of the conference. Also, this whole notion of requiring a super majority instead of a simple majority isn't saving the UMC any churches. I've known churches where they didnt get 66 percent but had sixty or fifty-five percent. The minority will end up with the building as the majority will leave and find a Bible believing Bible teaching church. Keep it up UMC! We Baptists have appreciated the numerous people that are defecting from your ranks and coming over to us because we believe the Bible and don't follow what is "popular with culture and changing society." You well know that the Wesley Brothers would not stay with the UMC..
The reason for disaffection is the conference’s across the country didn’t in force the book of discipline. The UMC globally has in good faith voted in conference to keep the book of discipline as original, only the US UMC wanted to change the discipline and failed thusly they didn’t in force it. If you wanted something other then the ‘ current book of discipline’ then you should disaffiliate. Thank you for your time and consider the church’s that are leaving are still in compliance with the current book of discipline .
I just watched a video on RU-vid with Methodist ministers on a panel saying they think the pews will fill now that they changed the rules but if that were true would not the Episcopalian church be full , then I see traditional churches filled, I not understanding
Our Conference Trustees discerned on their own to have the same policies in both Conferences. Oh yeah, and Pen-Del Leaders decided this without announcing it prior to implementing it. How Christ Like to work in the shadows. Why would you want to keep churches that don't want to under the UMC banner?
You and you fellow conference commissars will have to answer for what you are doing to God's churches. Have you considered seeking His will, instead of imposing your own on the churches in your care, in defiance of the church polity?
What she is saying sounds a lot like a threat. Hopefully the true believers of Jesus Christ will leave the church and take their money with them and leave this woman and other like her to follow Satan as they are doing.
Trust clause what about the book of discipline- some stay but don’t have the money or can’t leave their church building. This is horrible. Praying hard. The conference has changed the rules and yes I’ve not been privy to this from my church until a couple of months ago. Not everyone has computer search researches and pastors are silent as it’s their income, retirement etc. 50 percent? The UMC has changed the he rules and now they want money.
I understand why certain congregations want to disaffiliate, but here’s the problem. Remember, if you disaffiliate you are responsible for paying all of your bills on your own, paying your clergy, your secretary, your sextant whoever else, your grounds, keepers, your property taxes everything you are responsible for paying yourself if you don’t have the people that are in church or come to church to keep up donations to make this possible for you to pay all of this ,then I hate to use this term, but you’re screwed, you’re on your own because you have disaffiliated. They need to wait until a final decision is made on this process and then make a decision on what they’re going to do but remember if you do disaffiliate you are on your own and responsible for your own bills so if something ever happens and you need funds for mold, or whatever else might come up, you are on your Own .
Yes,, but if you split the congregation,, you have less money to work with,,, and if you ever need a large amount of money for repairs or whatever,,, you can’t request it from higher ups!! Put it this way ,, no matter what they do ,, split or not ,,, it’s a bad situation for everyone,,, because people will leave no matter what!!!
Using scare tactics of the financial decision of the Conference trustees, to hold churches hostage so it sways the vote into non-disaffiliation is sinful. Jesus overturned the tables in the Temple for this reason. May the UMC rest in peace, because you have lost a large base of members who have faithfully paid apportionments, who will no longer pay squat.
@wayne trout 100% of one of my congregations and 95% of the of the other want to leave. We had major repairs done and not one cent came from the conference so don't give me that
