Played all day on new patch, current thoughts: 1) Plate tankiness definitely is very noticeable, makes it harder to punish roams 2) Unleashed TP and home guard timers changing also impacts overall game pace, allows adaptation to faster game pace (very good change) 3) Bot lane most definitely FEELS stronger (in it's current state anyway) 4) LC being 1100 FEELS very nice
9:20 This is actually a nerf over live duskblade, as on twitter they confirmed the untargetable breaks upon casting or attacking. With a 10 second cd instead of on-takedown reset So whether dusk is going to be good is dependant on the 15% bonus damage
Now it actually works as intended Woo! As an item that allows the assassin to disengage after a successful pick, instead of being a free reposition for the next kill in teamfights
In one of the blog posts, Riot said they are experimenting with every class of items and the mythic system in general, and personally I'm really happy with what they've done with lethality items, and I'm very excited to see what they do with AP items! I'm a little worried about the possible Guinsoo's Katarina tho. Overall very happy day

Pro tips let you push 3 first wave slow push wave 4/5 crash reset --> enemy reset take prio wave 6/7 go bot double kill with creeps changes WHEN bot ahead from a side it's gg so enjoy your10 next min wait and get tour free lp

well I dont think mages are gonna be happy, 1 There are a lot of the damages added back into the game, and a lot build / press to outplay items are adding back to the game with the trade off of only prowler being removed from the game, it could be very difficult and dangerous for mages during mid game, when adc sup goes mid and you sort just catch farms on side lane. you are more likely to be picked and more adc ints on mid while you give them the best lane to farm/seige. 2. The source issue for mages is that the meta is still forcing players to play around adc, where MOST mages no longer has the ability to carry like use to except obviously a few, so mages will be forced or dragged around some bad fights a lot more, and potentially die more than before. The overall mage satisfication were majorly caused by this, back on early season and before actually, mages were played like a sup for the jungler, to play around junglers to carry the games, now adcs. the common issue is that mages CAN skirmish well with their CC and burst but they typically requires farms and does not like the high frequency almost inting like skirmishes which will increase even more around the bot laners.
edit, i might have overreacted and been a bit alarmist, so far we're still fine according to stats... But we'll see if things will change when we get deeper in the patch, I'm still nervous but I'll hold my horses a bit(original post was about fear for roa users getting the short end of the stick and not being able to play vs lost chapter future market first strike users)
Nautilus-Galio mid could go for a dmg amp build with Abyssal Mask-Evenshroud-Mandate-Zekes. But otherwise, roaming mids are probably going to be unplayable next patch.

Idk about mid but let me tell you there is no way Swain support will not be disgusting with Rylais rush into wardstone and mandate, casual 225 AP 36 ability haste (without boots) 870 HP and +1 hp on your every stack and this is a 7200 gold buy xd, pretty much sub 8k gold full build. What a disgusting patch
i like the change of minion timing, big nerf to early roaming. Mid has been such a utility braindead lane of push and roam now it forces some actual laning to happen which is nice.
I actually think ad assassins are getting a huge buff this patch but I could be wrong but here's how I see it. 1) I think yomuus ghostblade is the strongest item in the game after the changes giving a minimum of 26 lethality assuming the item is purchased level 1. Some other stuff to note is that this lethality doesn't work like crown where if you are damaged the passive drops. It goes down whenever you decide you want to go in. 2) They've also now reduced defensive options for adcs by nerfing shieldbow and getting rid of the bloodthirster shield. I think this, in conjuction with the yomuus changes is going to make ADCs way squishier overall without the assisstance of an enchanter. 3) I think also that while the lost chapter change is good the assassin player still is slightly advantaged in getting to their first item since they can go long sword 3 pots and get to their 1100 gold spike faster. Aditionally often times you want d-ring and/or dark seal as a mage simply because the health helps vs assassins. delaying the spike. I mean obviously reducing the price of lost chapter does help mages I'm more just curious to see the lost chapter vs. dirk play out. 4) additionally I think the minion aggro changes makes it harder to dive melee assassins early. Not that laning phases frequently resulted in a level 3 viktor diving a qiyana the minion damage does make a difference imo. Although I don't think it changes the trade patters that much since most melee assassins aren't autoing or using point and click abilities as part of their primary trade pattern Could totally be wrong but idk just my thoughts

at lot of mid matchups currently are actually based around 1100 sorc spikes too (ie skill shot based matchups or allowing mages to roam to early skirmishes near their lane), do you think that lost chapter at 1100 negates buying sorcs first?
Some good changes but I’m surprised there’s nothing other than DeathCap for battle mages like Gwen, Rumble, Vlad, etc. Feels bad coming back to lane with a codex and enemy mid either has lost chapter already or dirk. What are your thoughts on Vlad? Love his playstyle but feel like he’s too weak early for solo Q
Curtis, i have a question. As a mid laner I feel overwhelmed by tanks or some fighters coming to mid lane, the price reduction on lost chapter will definitely help with what I will ask you: when playing against tanks I feel I get out pushed and out traded even if I hit both minions and the champion. I feel like tanks take little damaged and don't spend as much mana, which makes it so that they can take 1 or 2 plates early until I can get lost chapter, unless my jungler chooses to pressure them. How do I deal with this situation?
Don't bother trying to kill them --> Stack and clear waves, create the conditions for roams. As a midlaner, you have a faster pushing power and very likely a stronger roam power.
would statikk shiv be good on Akali as a secondary item to build since it has 50% AP scaling on its passive? (tho that would mean sacrificing hourglass)
@Jay W Yeah, for sure, her first item is always going to be Botrk. I'm wondering if it's always going to be something like Jak'Sho 2nd or 3rd now or does she invest into Rageblade crit convert route and attempt to play similar to her shieldbow build?
@yugi yoyo gore/divine both been nerfed quite a bit since when they were prime builds in the past and triforce is meh item. I wonder if you're right about her just picking the best of the worst now, though.
She typically does very well into most mages, so it wouldnt suprise me if she is solid still since they didn't nerf botrk. Even though SB got altered, she wasn't building it until later AND it wasn't a super important item for her

Cassio will struggle in my eyes IF the meta does indeed become very ADC centric with enchanters. The reason being is that cassio can't deal with high range, Kog with W active/Jinx/Aphelios etc is really hard for Cassio. Cassio also struggles into a lot of lane dominant mages like Viktor/Syndra. So imo, she will likely be a bit more niche. As for Liss, she will also be a bit harder to play due to lanes likely being a bit slower/more elongated.
Maybe I missed a part, but I absolutely love annie rn, and have been abusing her in low elo games. I feel like most of these changes are great for her, esp the lost chapter buff and the mr nerfs, but how does she really stand atm? Is she still the ezpz champ to climb with or is she going to struggle more this patch. I know personally I have a hard time against assassins and a lot of these changes sound like they're eating good for sure.
Don't you think Kayle mid would benefit a lot from the changes? She gets a bunch of power from the on-hit item changes and definitely benefits from early roaming being nerfed etc
KIND of, similar to Ahri. She benefits from item changes but if the lanes are very long and isolated, she will struggle into lane bullies like Viktor/Syndra etc. Bit of a double edged sword. Also due to her low range she can struggle into ADC centric meta's
@@CoachCurtis does she not have longer range than most adcs at lvl 16? But yeah, she has barely any mr, so laning vs mages is nearly impossible. She does like longer laning phase and the new items tho, but i still think it's better to let her cook in the toplane instead.
As a TF main, Im both happy and sad. AP TF getting hit HARD by the minion wave change, teleport buffs, and rapid fire being 500g more expensive. But I LOVE AD TF and always have, and im gonna be having a lot of fun with it.
Hey coach, I think you are missreading the ADC changes. This in general is a crit ADC nerf, the items and build paths are just worse. Ofc rageblade is a big buff to those that use it however the kraken pd ie meta is giga nerfed with all 3 items nerfed. Mage bot lane may be insane since lost chapter and enchanter items are giga buffed
You have to remember a few other important pieces of info though: 1) It is objectively harder to influence bot in the early stages (Due to minion change/blast cone changes etc.) 2) Support itemization is buffed which benefits ADC's indirectly as well 3) Imo the build paths aren't really that much worse, SURE ADC's are a bit weaker at 1-2 items, but at 3+ items they are likely stronger
Coach Curtis, I need an advice, I want become a Varus mi otp. I know, I'm insane, but I love it. I hate the ADC role, not my role. I want make it work, what can I build? With the new rageblade is a must, so something like "nashor into rageblade" is ok? After that a rabadon? Or is actually ok lethal? Maybe in the support role with lethality. What do you think? I know, I'm insane.

As a Samira main this patch has hit me pretty hard. Samira feel AWFUL without the extra durability from shield bow and Bloodthirster. I have started to move to assert early dominance with collector rush. Mainly I have gone back to playing more Zeri and Kaisa as they are doing well with the changes.
Ngl , ghost blade feels busted as shit on blue kayn, talon, played about 10 games of each and on kayn your move speed is insane and it has a similar timeframe as your passive which allows for amazing burst. On talon the move speed and early 28 lethality means you can secure kills easily on roams
You are talking about LC beeing the same price as the lethality component (1100). That is not totally true. assassins start with a long blae which cuts the price of their component. But mages must start with a starting item. Unless mages start with a mana cristal ?

I don't understand how they removed double resists from items like Frostfire and Chemtank and then prepare to release a patch where all ADs are going to do mixed damage, everybody becomes Vayne and Irelia, Vayne and Irelia become turbo juiced, Vayne and Irelia now have Botrk AP proc and Rageblade AP damage, itemizing against this will be hell.
Im Pretty sure the Minion speed and tp changes will make adcs take teleport. Otherwise the lane is over so its harder for them to just opt for exhauste or smth. What do you think?
I otp TF , is this patch gonna change a lot for me ? 1) still walks like he's in no hurry . 2) still throws cards on the face of other champs . 3) still has "Hello motherfucker!" as an ultimate . nope.
I don't think the duskblade change makes it like Gwen W at all, that would be too strong. It probably just affects point and click abilities/attacks. Gwen w makes her completely immune to outside abilities
It affects everything, 1.5s of untargetability more akin to Fizz E. But it has a 10s cooldown so you can't chain the effect off of multikills like you could before. Should mean Pyke is less frustrating to deal with as well.
You are not that happy if you are an adc player like all people talk. They nerfed overheal, removed BT shield and you cant buy early shieldbow now. Adc will could be better on higher ranks because of better positioning and peeling, but on a lower ranks they will die a lot easier especially with an assasins changes.
I'm on the fence about that because: 1) AD items are weaker first 2 items, but 3+ items seem stronger 2) Supports are stronger which aid AD's lane phase 3) Bot is more isolated due to map and minion changes It's a tricky one
TLDR, no gragas, Olaf, malphite, xayah, asol nerfs. No jg nerfs, no adc nerfs. Non prowlers reliant ad assassins buffed, roaming ad assassins and ad assassin jg buffed. Adc buffed, supports buffed, top lane is left irrelevant
you mentioned a few times that ADCs are gonna be happy, but these changes are supposed to be nerf to the adc power level, just improvement to the builds and gameplay.
I assume the reason for not including Rabadons changes is because you dont think much of the actual changes and that the idea of the item sort of stays the same and dosent really means much?
Hi Curtis, I am a really big fan of you, and you are the reason why I enjoy league so much, I play better at the game, and I have a healthier relationship with it. It saddens me that you should have more views, you surely deserve more. How about making shorter videos, where maybe you do a series of 10 minutes videos on a single concept to make it more appealing to more people? These days viewers have a very low attention span (myself included), but your content is of such a high quality that reducing the length would be a waste, but surely it will benefit the channel.
